    [UNIHERTZ TITAN POCKET REVIEW]
These days, if I’m showing you a phone with a physical keyboard on the MrMobile channel, odds are it’s in an episode of my "When Phones Were Fun" throwback series.
Well, not today. Whether you’re a BlackBerry holdout, a nostalgic rubbernecker, or something in between ... there’s a new QWERTY keyboard communicator in town - the Titan Pocket, from Unihertz. Just like the last Titan, this one is a BlackBerry copy-paste in almost everything but the name ... but this one got hit with a shrink ray to make carrying it much less cumbersome. Find out if that, plus the affordable price, is enough to make it worth your $299 ... in MrMobile's Titan Pocket Review!

I now mostly only watch more special reviewers like Mr Mobile here and some Taiwanese reviewers who are Awesome in reviewing almost everything of the phone in a 25min video instead of stating the obvious in a 10min video

I have been using this for a little over a month (currently typing this comment on it) and I love it. Simple, annoys me enough to where I don't wannabe be on it too often and the sound quality is way better than any of my old iPhones. I'm on T-Mobile and all I did was take my sim card out of my iPhone and put it in this one and it worked instantly, no need to even go to the store.

As a lawyer (albeit not one specialised in intellectual property), I frankly don’t think BlackBerry could patent the Alt and Caps keys placement, since it’s part of a standard qwerty keyboard design: there would be no merit, legally speaking, in a patent that simply aims to protect that same design on a smaller scale. It’s as if I tried to copyright a miniaturised guitar fretboard! Besides, every qwerty phone ever produced had the same standard keys placement, from Nokia to Palm devices.
Therefore, I believe Unihertz made this choice for other reasons. Specifically, they probably wanted to differentiate themselves and exploit the non-screen real estate as best as they could (they didn’t want a semi-empty belt around the fingerprint sensor). Think of the BB Passport, it did not have any modifier keys but nobody complained since the software took care everything. Basically, Unihertz created a hybrid Passport-Q10 keyboard in order to optimise space and appeal to both audiences, at the cost, of course, of a more comfortable typing experience. That said, I’m not sure I’ll use the alt and caps keys often, since I didn’t on the Priv either.

Looking forward to rollable screens because of this. Someone will surely make a device that has a physical keyboard with most of the actual hardware under it and a small always visible bit of screen that folds out all the way to a normal size one. Ideally you'd be able to do that with a flick of the wrist, but I'd settle for something less violent.

    • @Flamdring

Really happy to be using Android instead of iOS since iPhones are not popular here. Android is just much more versatile and customisable making it ultimately easier for you as a user to switch brands and/or even operating system if you wish so. You are not locked in unlike Apple users. In reality, I wish there would be more interoperability between the different OS, kind of what Microsoft and Google are doing with their operating systems. Then the user could easily switch their devices without losing access to their preferred apps/programs.
