Cracking video, I’ve never owned a motorcycle before but I’ve been thinking of getting this Honda monkey to use on camping trips and I was wondering how to carry my kit on it, questions answered 😂 I wonder what people in the comments here think about this motorcycle as a first bike for someone with no previous experience with motorcycles?
This is the perfect first motorcycle my friend! Have you checked out my other videos. I highly recommend my most recent “planet of the monkeys 3: chapter 2” we’ve got a fantastic community and we have some right adventures on these bikes. I’ve a ducati too and this monkey gets more miles and gives more smiles. If you’re in the UK book yourself a CBT, it’s approx £90 and it’s basically a day out learning to ride bikes. If you don’t like it then fair enough but motorcycle are the ultimate experience. Especially these monkeys! I love it
@@Topboy_Jonny thanks for getting back to me Jonny it’s much appreciated, I will book up for a CBT. I’ve subscribed to your channel and I will watch from here on in.
@@bugsymalone1660 make sure you book the CBT with a good school. Worst case scenario is you don’t like it but you’ve had a good day out! I hope you catch the big though, I go camping on this all the time. Check out my dragon talk video for a proper camping trip in Early Feb!
I ride a 2023 Honda Monkey with a T-Rex rear rack that is much higher than the one shown and a top box. The T-Rex is super strong with a flat surface and a lockable compartment under it that adds about 2 inches to the height and it gives a feeling of being top heavy with the box and will only use it on rare occasions especially when loaded say with the weight of 2, 12 packs of beverages. Adds a lot of weight behind the rear tire, so guess just have to get used to that. The rack you are using is only rated for eight pounds. It appears the T-Rex would not work with the stop light mount on your Monkey, maybe only the Us model?
Yeah, finding a good rack is quite hard in the UK we’ve slim pickings. The rack itself is not strong at all, check out my other video where I add some serious strength to the rack for less than £6. Basically using metal pipe clips and threaded rod. You definitely have to get used to the additional weight on the bike.
Tell me about it haha! To be fair I’ve used the set up a couple of times now and I put all the heavy stuff in the saddle bags which are directly under me and light stuff in the 40l bag up high. It’s quite sturdy
Yes very much a problem, but not with this set up. In another video I pushed the rack to its limits after sticking a full 40l bag on top of the full top box and it sheared off whilst riding 🤣. Even after I modded it to increase its strength… the new OEM rack from Honda is the strongest but it’s so small
It depends on your exhaust setup. You’re going to struggle with this kind of saddle bag set up unless you’ve got a low exhaust like mine. But to be fair it’s worth trying as the exhaust has a shield on it, just make sure the hot fumes don’t hit the bags. Just remember to secure the straps so there’s no way they’ll dangle as if they caught in a wheel who knows what’ll happen.
Yeah, these racks are universal. This one came off a 2023 monkey I believe. The chassis design is the same on all of them so I wouldn’t worry. Just be mindful of what you need, this rack I’ve installed will be getting swapped back to the chrome one and I’ll strengthen that. Not nearly heavy duty enough
I got these off Facebook marketplace but Google ‘xingqixia top box’. I’m certain you can get it on Temu. The rack was alright don’t get me wrong but I wanted something stronger, check out my newer video about adding strength to the rack
They’re quite hard to measure from the outside so might be a tiny discrepancy but I’m quite certain it was 20L after going ‘L x W x H / 1000 = 19.89. I’ll remeasure it tomorrow, I could have forgotten to include the tiny space in the lid.
I’ve remeasured it today. So I’m measuring inside the box and I’m getting 20L of space inside. However if you measure the outside of the box then it’s 30L. I’m not sure how they sell them whether it’s on outside dimensions or inside dimensions.
I do like the lining in the box 👍 hope the rack holds up to the task buddy 👍😎🙊
My old rack felt much tougher believe it or not haha. I might swap them back yet, the new rack is good for anyone really but my needs are specific.
This is a bit funny looking, reminds me of revzilla's honda trail alaska trip. Safe riding!
It’s only going to get funnier, I’ve not finished with my plans yet haha

Check Facebook market place, there’s always something that comes up.

That is a lot of potential weight to mount so high and to the rear.

Sch-ing-qi-sh-is 😂 love this
🤣
Where did you buy this luggage rack?
I got this rack from Facebook marketplace but it’s rubbish. Treat yourself and get the new Honda OEM one as that’s the strongest I’ve found
The luggage capacity is 5 kilos, is this not a problem?

Could the saddle bag straps fit under the seat? Are the bags in the way of the muffler/tailpipe?

Do you have a link to the box/rack? looks great!

Are you sure its 20L? Googling 20l boxes and they look way smaller than your box.

Looks brilliant fully laden. Proper euro tourer 👍🏼👍
