Love it man. You are the first person I've seen using your monkey for what it's good at. 100 percent reliability and FUN. Using this bike for transportation to the camp site, fun at the camp site. Totally awesome. Only one recommendation, get your self a car starter. Battery pack. I have the " HALO", and it is awesome. I've had it a year, jump started 5 vehicles and still have never even had to charge it. It's a power source, jump start lightweight lithium battery pack with all the cables. I would also recommend a flexible solar panel for back up. That way you can actually charge the battery pack also. !!!!!!!!!!!!! Nothing like running out of juice or having a dead battery or an emergency situation with a dead cell phone. To ruin your otherwise perfect camping weekend. Enjoy, looks like fun.
Thanks for the video. New monkey owner. Looks like you needed to drill into the T-Rex deck to secure the Rotopax mount? (I have an unused can lying about but not sure I want to drill into the T-Rex deck.) Thanks!
I talked with the folks at T-REX about the rack and the carrying capacity: 10 pounds. When you are loaded I suspect you are well over the 10 pounds. In actual use, do you have any concerns? Thanks, Mark
Thanks for watching. The perform well off road, but a bit sketchy on road in tight turns or heavy lean. Seems tires are made to focus on one or the other.
Hey Uncle Fjester. Thanks for watching! The stock seat isn't really that bad. The only issue I found is it doesn't breath very well and after an hour or so ya get a bit of swamp ass.
Hey brother I enjoy your videos vary informative! I was curious if you could post or comment a link as to where you bought the wolf man trex luggage base because I’ve been searching the web and nothing is popping up for me. Thanks!
Thanks for watching! I picked them up from Amazon. Here's the link : www.amazon.com/gp/product/B084SNV9LX/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Did the engine mods give you more top end speed or help you maintain 55-60 with a head wind? I have the Yoshi slip on exhaust. Kind of wish I had done the full race version, but wanted to stay street legal. No other mods. I’m 6’ and 160 pounds and the bike can get to 60 eventually, if there’s any wind at all or I come upon a hill, I’m right down to 45-50 mph. I’m not looking to go 70. I just want to maintain 60 if possible with a head wind or hills. I’ve been considering an air intake, cam and ecu? Are you happy with the intake and ecu or are you considering a cam as well?
Thanks for watching. The intake, exhaust and ECU gave me more top end power which helped with power up the hills. I did't want to do the cam as the changes I made were enough. I'm 5'7 195 and 60-65 no problem.
My wife just bought a monkey and is looking forward to setting it up similar to yours do you have a brand name or link for the wind deflector? Thank you.
Nice video, can't wait to see your gear, I have a monkey ,My Luggage carrier came in the mail just today, just wish I had seen your T-Rex before I ordered a "H2C for cub house" ? Instructions in Thai Language,
Hope everyone is a wear that all after market exhaust are being outlawed in the USA because they do not meat EPA noise or emission laws. It is illegal to sell these for on road use. You will at some point get a ticket and a fine and the stock exhaust must be installed. Sorry, that is the way it is. EPA has gone after the manufactures of these products in a big way.
Thanks for the question. I believe they all can carry more than the listed amount. I think they put those numbers to cover the liability. Just remember they use the same mounts as the shocks, so the are not designed to have the extra weight.

Just spotted your link to this on the Facebook group mate, great video and really informative, thanks for taking the time to post it up.
Much appreciated!
Great set up. I’ve had a 10ft inflatable kayak and an accordion 🪗 on mine. Keep doing what you are doing. Cheers Dean (Manchester England 🏴)
Rock on!
That's just impressive. Thanks for sharing, I might take my monkey someday for a long road trip 😁
Thanks for watching! I'd say 2-3 night would be my maximum on a camping trip. But if you are hotel hopping there would be no limit.
Thanks for sharing, have a nice & safe journey
Thanks, and thanks for watching!
Thanks for sharing your setup!
I had to add mirror extenders. They really help seeing around your shoulders.
Agreed. I did add Double Take adventure mirrors after this video. Thanks for the comment!
That would be such a riot!!!!
Thanks for watching! I just picked up a 2006 TDUB! I watch your channel for great videos and upgrade ideas!
Very impressive video, thanks for all the tips 👍
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching!
Nice job!
Thanks for watching!
Great little bike. I am considering one in Thailand.
You should!
@@OldManMotoAdventures I tried one out. I couldn't believe how flat it is compared to my 155 cc Yamaha scooter.
Thanks for the video. New monkey owner. Looks like you needed to drill into the T-Rex deck to secure the Rotopax mount? (I have an unused can lying about but not sure I want to drill into the T-Rex deck.) Thanks!
Thanks for watching! I did have to drill some holes to mount the rotopax in the rack.
With the new exhaust, air filter and ECU, doesn't the engine get hot? Do you need to install an oil cooler as well?
Thanks for the question Zino. I live in California where it can get very hot in the summer and the engine never had a problem.
@@OldManMotoAdventures oh great, thanks for the reply!
Helpful - thanks
Glad it was helpful!
Great video! Subscribed
so nice brother
Thank you so much 😀
Monkey needs a 181cc big bore kit , if your gonna do it ya do it right 😊
Agreed! That extra power woul dhave been useful on the hills with the camping gear. Thanks for watching!
Curious if you’ve added any new mods since the video? What is your top speed on this bike, on a flat?
Hey Teylor, Nothing new on the bike beyond this video. It's working out great in it's current state.
I talked with the folks at T-REX about the rack and the carrying capacity: 10 pounds. When you are loaded I suspect you are well over the 10 pounds. In actual use, do you have any concerns? Thanks, Mark
Thanks for watching! I'd guess my max was 15lbs of gear on the back. Never seemed like it was too heavy and felt solid off road.
Hello are you happy with Monkey ? No problems mechanical ? Thank you 😉🇧🇪🇧🇪
Great bike, never had an issue with it. Smiles for miles!
@@OldManMotoAdventures Thank you …now i have à Monkey Red 2024 😍 i love the Monkey
beats the hell out of a milk crate with zip ties
Yes....yes it does! Thanks for the comment
That Honda red is pretty nice, how do you like those tires compared to the vee rubbers?
Thanks for watching. The perform well off road, but a bit sketchy on road in tight turns or heavy lean. Seems tires are made to focus on one or the other.
Looks like fun. I am a about to get a Monkey, just curious if the CJR ECU has been reliable after a year?
Hey Ricky, thanks for watching. The CJR ECU has been flawless since the day I installed it. Highly recommend it.
@@OldManMotoAdventures Does ECU have any benefit, if I change only little bit louder exhaust? Like Talegawa exhaust.
What is the name of and where did you get the windscreen?
It's a Dart Piranha Flyscreen. Worked well. Thanks for watching!
Dude, you gotta put links in the description! join Amazon affiliates and you make bank on purchases.
How's the seat? I hear they suck
Hey Uncle Fjester. Thanks for watching! The stock seat isn't really that bad. The only issue I found is it doesn't breath very well and after an hour or so ya get a bit of swamp ass.
nice mods on the monkey. very pretty!
Thanks for watching! It's been a fun bike!

Did you say the rack capacity is 15 or 50 pounds? 15 seems low for what you have on it.
Thanks for watching....15lbs would be the most I would load on the rack. Not due to the rack quality but overall weight on the rear of the bike.
@@OldManMotoAdventures oh gotcha. I didn't even think about that. Thanks
@@jasonsuggs111 No problem!
Are the shocks on upside down 🤔
Shocks are mouted same as factory. Thanks for watching!
Did I hear the weight limit on the rear rack correctly as 15 lbs?
Yes, but you could lift the back of the bike with it. This it's just for legal reasons. Thanks for watching.

where did you buy the exhaust, the fuel chip and the air box mod?
Thanks for the comment. The exhaust and and intake came from MNNTHBX.com . The chip came from CJR Performance.
I suspect the rack will crack away from the attachment point under the seat. Its very weak there
Thanks for watching. I agree it's a weaker point on the frame. JUst try and keep the weight down to a minimum. Thanks for watching!
Good review video brother 👍 I am new friend 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Welcome!
My wife just bought a monkey and is looking forward to setting it up similar to yours do you have a brand name or link for the wind deflector? Thank you.
Thanks for watching! the screen is a Dart Piranha flyscreen for Honda Money 125 - Midnight Tint. Enjoy the Monkey!
Nice video, can't wait to see your gear, I have a monkey ,My Luggage carrier came in the mail just today, just wish I had seen your T-Rex before I ordered a "H2C for cub house" ? Instructions in Thai Language,
Thanks for watching. Yeah..the T-Rex is definitely a well built rack, some might even say overbuilt. I'll be posting a video of my gear soon.
Hope everyone is a wear that all after market exhaust are being outlawed in the USA because they do not meat EPA noise or emission laws. It is illegal to sell these for on road use. Yup, It's near impossible to get items shipped into California these days. Thanks for watching!
Fell asleep 6 times, get with the program
I only fell asleep 3 times...
Is there any rack that can carry more than 3 kg?
Thanks for the question. I believe they all can carry more than the listed amount. I think they put those numbers to cover the liability. Just remember they use the same mounts as the shocks, so the are not designed to have the extra weight.
Also, Akrapovic makes a better pipe.
Thanks for watching. I really like the sound of both, was just a matter of availability.
You really shouldn't record the audio for the vids when your wife is sleeping right next to you.
Ha! I think it was a sleeping baby!
Why can't anyone post a video without the crap music...👎
Great Question. I think all the free music in my video editing software is crap. I just get to pick the least crappiest.
Overloading your monkey is not recommended! This is overloaded.
I made a video of what I carried. Maybe I shoudl post that. Mostly all my backpacking ultra-light gear, so not that heavy.
