TH-cam algorithm brought me here 6y late. Very interesting topic, very well conducted. The Mr & Ms Smith example about the roles positions shifting is epic. Love it. Cheers.
Well explained. Thank you for looking into the camera instead of looking at, say your own image in a monitor. A private student thanks you, Colin Brett.
You just blew the lid off of every single negative drama cycle I ever had. I was suffering from it for so long and did my best to do the do not get involved thing without being detatched. ..... And then you just took the "don't jinx it" attitude out of every positive relationship I have ever had in my life. Thank you, now I can let go of so much! Wonderfully explained!
Excellent explanation and thank God there is a way to address having to be in the destructive triangle. This has opened my eyes up a lot about my relationships with others.
As i noticed people are at the same time victim, persecutor and rescuer but in diffrent relatishons, so you have agressive type of person who is patheticly depending on some other person and in that relashion presents victim but in other cases is persecutor.
Hi great video easy to follow. Just having some fun here. The responder was mind reading believing he new there was a problem, and yes as you have said thought he could help. To break the chain, one may just not respond. And when one answers on the positive level one may change the problem state to a resource state. And can move the issue, not problem into the past. So, what is the issue you had? And how have you corrected it? This may bring in his resources, and problem-solving skill to the present issue, with the sense and emotion of success? One could watch to see where he focused to see where he anchors this response in relation to his body also. Just having fun, thanks for the video.
Rescuer and victim are the same if you really think about it. They both are seeking external validation. Victim feels validation when people put effort into helping them and rescuers feel validation when the victim shows dependency/appreciation.
when the victim does not turn into vulnerable r can respond to the victim, but let her be let her find out what to do, acknowledge feelings and let go to see what the victim finds out.
That's right. Rescuer should encourage the victim to stand up for themselves against persecutor, and tell victim to be assertive. Instead of rescuer confronting persecutor.

Love this mans presenting style. A tad camp but good.
I found this explanation very helpful . Many thanks!
Excellent, very transcendent thank you

Rescuers may need to be 'needed' in order to feel useful. They may need to see others as victims to make themself feel better.
Thank you! I really enjoyed watching your wonderful explanation!
clearly explained .. i like this and have learnt this on a course i did today

Plus R cannot confront V too, and give advice creates more confusion, and V cannot move on
i understand being vocal and responsive instead of getting involved in the drama triangle but how would you be assertive without being agressive
Thank you!!!!
Watching this I'm so glad I'm Autistic... it seems being neurotypical is such a complicated affair.

Not always true some rescuers hook up with each other and some victims also hook up with each other what is this called.

Not pretending... Not aware of their assets...I learned to stop using all these roles so much. Feels healthier
