    I drove a 718 Cayman GTS and it had the turbo 4 cylinder and it was no joke! I didn't mind the difference between the 6 cylinder Caymans previous to the 718 generation. It was pretty effing fast.

      They make a six now under the GTS trim. It starts a $90k.

    Superior handling and driving dynamics. You said it yourself.
    Excellent interior build quality. Solid controls with excellent feedback. You said it yourself.
    It’s worth the $100,000.

    At last a good review of the 718 Cayman S, I went with the extended leather trim it’s a far better option for the interior, I hope to see the updated model at some point and I hope they keep it ICE.

      Thanks man! :) Yep, once the interior gets updated with the new 10.9” screen from the Macan, it’ll be really awesome!

    Great review style, new sub. Look forward to more reviews … and the next Cayman model. Used to have a Macan, this interior is definitely inferior to it.

    I’m currently specing a Base Cayman and really appreciate that Porsche does not have the electronic bonanza of a dashboard (ie Mercedes). And yes, the options can make the price tag go northward very easily. I’m still on the fence between manual and PDK. I may not actually receive the Cayman for a year, but I’m willing to wait. Nice video!

    • @StevensCarReviews
      @StevensCarReviews  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Jonathan! Yep, Porsche knows how to get your money with their options, but it’s so much fun building your own car! :)

      oh dear... good luck with being patient
      I ordered a base Boxster in July and the initially confirmed shipping date of March was switched to June pretty fast after order placement (not really a big surprise, but with spring coming up I am starting to become quite anxious)
      So with current situation, you might not be far off with a year.

    • @jonathanl2748
      @jonathanl2748 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Malakai8888 Thank for your feedback. We shall see how it goes. I’m still deciding on a few options before I pull the trigger and pay the deposit.

    • @Malakai8888
      @Malakai8888 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jonathanl2748 I guess the ordering process is a little different here in Germany. We are not paying a deposit with placement of the order. So no charge before actual taking ownership.
      But do they know how to get your bucks with all of those options...
      And whatever you are still in decision about - you will keep on wondering afterwards. At least my build is fixed now and the window for additional changes is long gone... otherwise a couple of more or less small things would have lightened my budget even more.

      Go manual.

  • @blueberrycobbler
    @blueberrycobbler 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The comment below me from “Joel” states there are not many options with this car in manual. Not sure what he means as the manual and PDK are both available with tons of options...as are all Porsche vehicles. You can have as much leather as you want and also have the availability of some race tex and carbon fiber.
    As to the car in the video being over 100k...No. I have owned a 2019 base Cayman, a 2021 GTS ($105,000) and have just submitted a build for a Cayman S with full leather, carbon fiber replacing all of the aluminum surround trim, sport chrono, PASM sport suspension, torque vectoring, the most expensive wheels, LED lighting, BOSE, power steering plus, lane assist, colored gauges, leather steering column, heated multifunction steering wheel, and many more options beyond that and it doesn’t reach 100k.

    More like 3.8 0-60 tbh... Porsche underrates their cars.. I also thought the mpg was 21/28... but I could be wrong.

    I've been doing a ton of research on the 718's and reportedly 50% are sold with the upgraded leather. On the S it's a $2500 option and leather goes everywhere (i.e. door panels, upper/lower dash & center console) along with some pretty nifty stitching. Probably one of the better deals as far as Porsche options go. Great job btw, we got to get you more subs!

    • @StevensCarReviews
      @StevensCarReviews  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks John, that means a lot to me! :) The leather option would’ve definitely been appreciated on this one.

    300-500 lbs less than its primary competition, engine in the right spot, 3 pedals available. Porsche pricing is silly but they do important bits right

  • @rembo183
    @rembo183 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Excellent review but you should do a review of a base model to show what the base entry model,has and why all these extras aren’t necessary for,the experience. This at over $100k is an overpriced example for sure. The looks for,the sad car are essentially the same. The $100 price is because of all the options. Base is best for value. For $70 K.you get a lot. 300 hp and 0-60 in about 5.0 seconds for base. Not that much difference with this for $100k. Options give you cool stuff but you’re paying way too much.here.

    • @StevensCarReviews

      I totally agree! The options on this model are a bit ridiculous. Thanks for watching!

  • @rembo183
    @rembo183 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Excellent review. Sadly there aren’t many options in this type of car with a manual. The Supra is automatic. The new Nissan Z will be a great option and much less money yet a manual with about 400 hp.with a turbo 6. This car is a turbo 4. Over $100k is in the same pricing as a flat six GTS so I’d skip this S and get the six. A BRZ coupe is another option as is the Toyota version. Personally I think I get the Base Cayman which starts at $60k.

  • @rembo183
    @rembo183 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    The benefit of a Porsche Cayman or Boxster is handling and the driving dynamics. You can get essentially the same feel in the base car. Just avoid all the very expensive options and keep the price as low as you can, which is still not cheap at $60,000 for the base with a manual.(all you need for fun driving pleasure.
