Pokemon's Event Preservation is Pathetic

- The State of Pokemon tends to have some problem no matter how well things may be going financially or in regards to its reputation. But what about a smaller issue people tend to not think about anymore? Such as Event Pokemon or Events that happen in game that are locked due to said Pokemon or an item you had one week in your entire life to get. That will be discussed here.

Oh yeah.
As someone who has been playing since the days of RBY. One of the most heartbreaking things has been looking on Bulbapedia and Serebii at the events I never even knew were happening. The Pokemon I missed because I never realized going out to Toys R Us or Gamestop and picking up this Pokemon or that was even possible.
Then of course now I have Pokemon like Ash Greninja. And I can't transfer that forwards because while it keeps the ability, it apparently does not continue to transform.
That's why I feel no remorse when using the alternatives currently enabled to obtain Pokemon events via WiFi.
To me, it's not so much about obtaining the Pokémon but experiencing the event to go through everything the game could possibly offer.
Great video, i could rage and rant forever with you about this. As someone who will never experience 90% of pokemon.
My dude, they are gonna gut gen 3-7 from history after pokebank closes. They dont give a damm about presevation, only to buy the new stuff

This is barely scraping the tip. 2 games, 3rd game was always better. Stoped making 3rd games, never should be 2 just one, cant catchem all etc etc etc etc its absurd...how to say.... you cant really fully play pokemon. Ever. Even if it wasnt for the events
You're right. That subject is best saved for another time. I miss the era of a third edition that completed everything. But you can never catch them all. Game freak makes sure of it so you can "keep playing".
Just putting it out there, “gotta catch them all” hasn’t been officially used since the Gen2 days.
@ZakanaHachihaCBC yes but that directive is still a core motivator for a lot of fans, people still want to catch em all even if it means doing things they normally wouldn't (like willingly playing SV or buying the DLC)

Sword and Shield were re-released as bundled editions with the DLC on the cartridge, so there will be a way to play the DLC after the eShop closes. But it wouldn't surprise me if the bundled editions became really expensive in the future. Scarlet and Violet also recently got a re-release with the DLC included, but they only have The Teal Mask on the cartridge and The Indigo Disk has to be downloaded. So half of Scarlet and Violet's DLC will eventually become inaccessible, which really sucks.
Another thing that drives me crazy is how Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl were released with incomplete versions of the game on the cartridge. They have since been reprinted with the day one patch included on the cartridge, but it still means that many copies of the game in the future will lack the finished music and even features like Ramanas Park.
Honestly, it’s even worse than you describe. Most of those events were never made available outside of Japan and the US.

Fan made dns servers distrubt a lot of old Pokemon events for gen 4 and 5.
Man I didn't know the mew event existed in scarlet and violet and now I'm sad.

@@piptalkk9368 the event has long been over but dont worry !! you can spend 60$ on brilliant diamond/shining pearl and then ANOTHER 60$ on let's go pikachu/eevee and then you can get a free mew from some npc in floraroma town ! (and/or jirachi with sword/shield)

In the Pokémon Rescue Team series, there is a Feature called WonderMail. This allowed the player to access new missions in certain generations. What if Pokémon used a similar system? After 5 years of the games release, Nintendo releases the event code that the player can input to access an event.
That's too good of an idea for Game Freak to actually use. But that's a great suggestion all the same.
Thank goodness for the fans that have gone above and beyond to keep these events available and reusable with emulators/rom tools.
Or a fan server constantly distributing every event ever available.

My hot take is that TPC should not have the rights to the Pokemon IP. And I don't mean, give it to someone else, I mean Pokemon should be public domain. It's the largest IP on the Earth, Pokemon's cultural impact is immense and will be studied by people of the future. It shouldn't be controlled by a corporation that not only won't work to preserve its work, it will (and has!) actively work against community efforts at preservation. But that will never happen, because lmao why would it.
Technically you can get two of the sinnon legendaries as both the event acrceus and a the arecues from spear pilliar will trigger the event (just got get a azure flute some how)
mythical pokemon suck so much ass, and it sucks that even **if** they re-run the events (like darkrai/shaymin events in bdsp) they're still limited run. and this isnt even mentioning mythicals that you need to have OTHER GAMES to get !! (jirachi and mew in bdsp with sw/sh and lgpe respectively, and arceus in bdsp with pla)
at least, i think both darkrai and shaymin are permanantly available in pla, but i think they're shinylocked? which probably doesnt matter much to most people but as someone who occasionally likes to torture themself with shiny hunting... yea. and keldeo is perm available in the sw/sh dlc once you've caught all swords of justice.
so at least some of them are available!! if you have the money to spend!! but there is also SO MANY pokemon that simply arent available anymore outside of their original games :/

Yeah the special events for gen 4 was easily the worst aspect of that generation.
Like why the hell are you locking away special events from the player. And sinnoh is so fucking guilty of that.

Like, that shit was ridiculous.
Cresselia is part of the main game. I always loved the exclusive events that appeared in these games, and love them today too. Though of course I was able to participate on them in gen 4 and 5 onwards, so I do understand the frustration if you didn’t manage to get the pokemon.
But even then, I was never able to participate to the Gen 3 events and while kid me was suoer upset that they would never come to my country, something about that exclusivity and rarity made them feel super mysterious and awesome, to the point even kid me was fine knowing they existed but I wasn’t among the few to experience them. Probably why I loved the gen 4 events so much because I was finally able to participate in something similar.
And amazingly, I got access to the recreated gen3 events this year amd after 20 years of them having this mystique feeling on them, I finally was able to experience them, distribute the tickets through mystery gift and go catch Mew and Deoxys etc.
I don’t know, to me those special events resonate so much and have added big portion of the magic of the series for me since the beginning, to the point I got goosebumps just writing this lol.

Use the DNS exploit. Bam, no problem in restarting your gen 4 and gen 5 games. Don't complain when there is a solution.
