Tremendous presentation...This rack is almost perfect.... But, who's gonna lift it up and mount it on my trailer hitch???? If your able-bodied enough to lift a 60lb rack into the receiver, you might as well just lift your ebike up onto a regular bike rack... I do love this setup though! Thanks for posting!
Great review. Just clicked the link to Saris for the price: $1300.. Yikes!!! For that amount of money, it should come with a person that loads and unloads your bikes from the rack!!!
Great instructional video. I knew it was just a matter of time before these hydraulic e bike racks come onto the market. I have issues loading my heavy bikes. So I bought a super light weight hybrid e-bike under 38 pounds. Does the trick.
I would like to know how far from the back of the vehicle does the rack extend. I need to know if I will be able to close my garage with the rack mounted.
For my vehicle, it's about 35", Jimmy. That's from the rear edge of the 2" receiver. It does fold up but you have to take out the pin to swing it up. -Tom
I really like this, considering I spent almost 1K for the Thule E bike rack which works great. However this has not only integrated lights, but the lift also. Well worth the price for a solid ebike rack, wish they made it when I bought mine 2 years ago oh well. Thanks for the video and great explanation.
Bike racks here in the EU have taillights as a mandatory equipment. I think the tow bars we use over here (with the ball design) is much quicker to handle. But the lift function is really great.
So KOOL, never have seen anything like this. Happy this works for you. Wish this rack had larger wt rating. Have one bike at 83lbs. Worth the price if it carried more.
Hi Tom, great bike rack with those built in lights for safety, there will always be that police officer who might give you a ticked for obstructed view of license plate
Hey Tom! Nice unit, especially that lift/lower feature. Thanks for the demonstration. Try not to melt down there. It's almost as bad up here in Connecticut. Throttle-only weather! 🚲Take care.
Hey C.P. I'm adjusting this summer better than I did last summer. Throttle only weather....LOL! I'm going to steal that one from you if you don't mind.
Great video Tom! Does this replace your Thule easyfold rack? I am in between this Saris rack and the Hollywood destination e-bike rack with the collapsible ramp. I have a Juiced RCS XL just like you.
Thanks Tyler. With the lights and the ease of loading, I'm going to answer YES to your question. I'm not familar with the destination rack. I'll have to Google that and get up to speed. I hope you like your RCS XL as much as I love mine. It just took me to lunch on the island today!
@@evolutionaryTom overall I like my RCS but I've had an issue with a loud noise in the rear end since I got it an Juiced thinks it is the controller. I've been waiting on a replacement for over a month. Hope that fixes it when I eventually do get it!
Hi, great video. Can you confirm your bike has 4 inch tire size cause the rack accepts only up to 3 inch. seems your tire floated on top of the tire rail. can you comment on this, cheers
Great question, Michel. I asked Saris about that before I got the rack. The 4" tire fits just fine. The channel on the rack is more of a guide as opposed to something that holds the bike in place. Of course it helps, but the straps are the real anchor points. As long as the tire has enough of a channel to lock into with the straps, it's fine. I'm paraphrasing what I was told but again, I asked the same question of them. I'm sure their lawyers would say something different so don't take my opinion as the gospel. Again, great question. -Tom
Thanks for the nice comment, loopedrevo. No, I did not sell my Thule. The channels are narrow on both racks. The straps though make it really solid. The channel ends up being more like a shelf and a guide one they are strapped in. BUT, you can never be too careful. When I use to carry my motorcycle on a hitch rack, it took 6 months before I finally believed that it wouldn't fall off on the first bump. LOL
Thanks, Tom! Regarding wiring, did you have a 7-pin system already set up on your car, or did you have to adapt/convert from a 4-flat to the 7 system? Is a conversion even possible given the Saris seems to require more than a 4-flat can provide. If you did convert from the 4 to the 7, how did you manage it? Thanks! Sam
@@susanbergeron929 I am guessing you have already had something done by now. A 7 pin must be wired into the vehicle separately as it has a constant voltage. Its not cheap and best to have the dealer do it as it can be tricky where the wires are.
Ron, My 4" tires on my Juiced Bike RCS fit just fine. My opinion is that it sits in the tire rail as well as it does on the Thule EasyFold, maybe a bit better. The straps are very secure.
You think one can hook up the 7 pin then activate the lift THEN slide it into the hitch? Idea being getting it to raise itself… Trying to figure out a system for dear mother in law to not have to lift the 60 lbs to slide it into hitch… Purpose was to not have to lift anything😂 Was hoping to find a system that would maybe have a bracket bit that more permanently stayed in the hitch then the lift more easily attached and detached as needed.
Whoever makes the easiest system is going to do very well. The E-Bike manufacturers need to understand who their customers are and many of them are older and not looking to be a weightlifter. I completely agree! -Tom
That rack seems severely undersized for your bike. The rails too thin and the straps too short. Saris could have done a lot better on this. As for your video, great review and production.
Yes, that 70 pound rating seems to throw off a lot of bike rack manufacturers. I just reviewed the Hollywood Destination E and it has a heavier rating for the bikes and it very easy to load. It's my new favorite. -Tom
Really nice explanation thank you. That rack is just too much for me. Electric up and down maybe a foot pedal would have been cheaper and those lights look too big and easy to break when moving that monster around. The chanels should just have been wider since it was designed for heavy ebikes that often have these plus sized tires like yours. Plus the price of $1300 holy crap just too much.
Wish it wasn't $1,200. That cost more than my ebike. I might just mount a bright ebike brake light to my cheap [200 lb rated) bike rack. 🤔 That is all I can afford.

That's pretty light for an E-Bike for sure. Anything that doesn't make it tougher is helpful and just means you'll get out and use it more often.
Awesome video and the bike rack looks like it would work great. Most importantly, thanks for being a Marine.
I appreciate your nice comment. Thank you very much. I took more than I gave...

What on earth was that beeping???
So KOOL, never have seen anything like this. Happy this works for you. Wish this rack had larger wt rating. Have one bike at 83lbs. Worth the price if it carried more.
Yes, that 60 lb limit per bike is an issue for us too. We would be at the limit. Darn, I was hopeful!

I agree with you, John. Hoping I don't come across any like that. Fingers crossed! -Tom

How much do your bikes weigh? We have two fat tire e-bikes that with battery removed would be 67 lbs.

I’d like to know this answer as well as I’d have to have the wiring installed. Expensive to have done?

Any that fit a 4" tire? Perfect concept solution

@@evolutionaryTom that's great! I was looking on their website and it said up to 3" tires.
Only will accommodate up. to 3in wide wheels and only up to 60 pounds per ebike. Well that rules my bikes out.

I forgot to tell us what’s the maximum weight for a bike
I dont know. Almost 1200.00 , wonthold a fat tire 4 in or 70 lb. Great presentation, just ge rack is not good enough

Quite frankly, the beeping is annoying, but I can see how people would accidentally drive away without lifting the rack back up.

LEDs have been around for over 10 years. Those lights are stupid.
I do think LED's should be the standard.

60lb weight limit per bike is a massive miss.
I agree. Seems like you would design a larger capacity into it but I'm no engineer. Maybe it's a battle between the engineers and the accountants.
Doesnt even fit 4" tires.... Bust
Looks like a pain in the ass to me
