I have a caad12 with a 10 speed force group and a 1x and it is super light. About 15lbs. Dedicated race bike. I love how it feels. I also have a Supersix Evo hi mod disc in team colors with Sram Etap. This bike feels amazing to ride. Like a dream. It's more or less a super bike but something about the caad stand out. I don't know if it's the fact that I built up a buget race bike with cheap used parts that is light and super stiff or the fact that I don't have to worry about damaging it and don't have to be so careful but the Caad12 is probably the best bike I've ever ridden. I would be beyond happy if it was my only bike.
Marc Kubu You are100 % right Have Cad 10 and Cad 12 no worries when riding in this sense jumping on kerbs of kerbs going true gravel roads going true the grass lawns bunny 🐰 hoping I definitely would not do the same stupidity as with carbon bike my atitude with the Aluminati every ride is P SAGAN ride😃 .
I'm a Caad 12 owner and have owned a Giant TCR with their top of the range Aluxx SL Frame. The Cannondale shows that not all Aluminium frames are built equal. Very unbiased review! Nice one!
I had the caad 12 105. Loved it. Especially over city roads that can be bumpy. I have a dream build Allez with di2. So there quite deffrent. Overall I would go with the Caad 12 if ur riding rough roads. Allez only if u want a truly stiff and mariginally areo frame for racing and training on smooth roads.
Purchased a CAAD12 and it's like a breath of fresh air every time I ride it.. even with the 105 groupset.. currently saving not for the next bike, but for an etap and carbon wheelset upgrade.. it is so good.!!
Oh, it'd be night and day compared to the Avail. Heaps of women-specific geometry frames have really lazy front ends. Cuz women don't want bikes with race handling apparently ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I'm looking into a new road bike and at the start I fell in love with the caad12. Then I thought that it was time to experience carbon so have been lookingqt the Supersix. I don't know why, but I just keep coming back to looking at the Caad. Man, decisions decisions - I really don't know
I’m illuminated and carbonated! That’s a sweet bike, don’t think it’s for me because I already have the 2015 Allez DSW pro model but I would get that one if I wanted another alloy bike. At the moment I’m enjoying my 2018 Roubaix too much to even consider another bike.
I totally agree with those wheels, they are fine for climbing and stable but not fast when compared with C50 Dura ace with aluminum brake rims. I am guessing that the hubs could probably be better
I was lucky to find a CAAD 12 on OfferUp for $700 and man what a bike!! I've owned Giant and Bianchi (last bike was stolen) and this is the nest I've owned! I like to ride every other day for at least an hour or more and the only thing I'd change personally is the seat post and better wheels!
When I swap a battery out instead if relying on a charge or better have a dual.battery setup then I'll Hoover to Wireless shifting. Cables work and if you buy quality cables and change every 10000 kms you rarely if ever have a snapped cable.
I've built a 2016 CAAD12 Black Inc frame set (in the boring, er, requisite black colorway) with full Dura Ace 9100, Ceramic Speed Pully, a C bear BB, Save seat post, Fizik CF seat, Cannonades SiSl2 crankset, a Black Inc integrated handlebar, the newest gen Zippier 404 FC, Vittoria Corsa G+ with latex tubes. For just over $5000 USD, I have a bike compares favorably to the non high mod SS Evo in every way on the road, weighs 15.4 pounds with water bottles, and computer. I cannot think of a single CF bike in the $5K range I'd prefer, as most are outfitted with $800 wheels and Ultegra group sets. I'll take the world tour derived design (The CAAD12 literally has the same tube shaping as the current supersix, we looked at the frames side by side in the shop) and top components over most carbon.
That's a nice build. I have a 2018 CAAD 12 (the orange one here) with Campy Super Record EPS, FSA SL-K carbon stem, carbon bars and carbon wheels, Save carbon seat post, Bontrager Montrose Pro carbon-rail saddle, Vittoria Corsa Speed clinchers, SI crankset ... weight is 16.1 pounds. The Campy battery in the seat tube adds about half a pound.
I have a 2015 CAAD10 and a 2015 Super Six EVo Hi-Mod( selling the Evo to pay for my CAAD12 Build). Anyway, I snapped the rear brake cable on the CAAD10 during a race. The 2014-15 models had the internal cable routing on the headtube. Apparently, this is a known issue on them. I have had to have the cable replaced three times since Feb 2015 when I purchased it. 2011-2013 CAAD 10s have external routing for the rear brake, so it's a non-issue. I love my CAAD, and it is the best bike I've ever ridden. However, that cable issue does exist.
Really like the caad12 and almost bought one, but I just went for the caad13 and I love the upgrades on the frame. Would be nice if you can bring the caad13 to your channel... ✌🏽
I think you should look into the Zipp 302s for $1500 and it will blow your mind on the quality and the feel there very fast and responsive. Now mind you I have the 303 NSW and "had the 303 firecreast and the 302s are way better that the firecreast.
I love your videos man as always! Even more this one as I am a caad12 owner. I watched your indipac setup and I just received my Apidura saddle bag 14l. Lets see what the caad12 can do for long holidays! Cheers
It's a matter of preference. Both groups are exceptional. It all boils down to choices to your needs. You can do a lot of stuff with Di2 (ie. program shifting from your phone), but installation can be challenging for first timers. E tap is wireless, so it's much easier to set up (in one hour, you will be riding) and if there is an issue, it will easier to identify since there are no derailleur cables. Thankfully, both groups have proven themselves to be very reliable. .
Got a Caad 10 & got a Caad 12(yellow) D/A disc a few years ago, also have the yellow Allez w/Ultegra which I upgraded my Tarmac to DA,the 12 sizing runs big which I found out too late, got a Eddy Merckx San Remo Disc few months ago from Merlin Cycles & took all the components off the 12 & on the EM,had to get disc wheelset cause the 12's Mavic have only front thru axle,Caads ride really nice, the EM I just put together rides the best so far ,stiffer & smoother.
Ride Adelaide, What gearing would you preferred for Climbing? Im thinking about (52-36 / 11-28) or (53-39 / 11-32 or 11-30) or would you suggest gearing that would good and comfortable for climbing. Thanks in advance
Looking at my bikes I run compacts across the board. The ratios I have on them are 34x29, 34x28, and 34x32. I spent all my time in the hills and don't race so I'll fit my bikes with plenty of gear range to cover me for what I want to do. It's not about going faster necessarily, but about being comfortable on the majority of gradients.
There's a lot of things to consider here; not just your height but your bike fit and riding position. I send a lot of people over to www.geometrygeeks.bike so they can compare their current bike to the one they're investigating. That'll tell you how different the geometry is to what you're used to. Pay most attention to Reach and Stack. Those are the best measures of frame size similarity
Ok. Well, I am a newbie - so I don't have anything to compare to. How can I decide the correct size? what should I do when I take a testride at/from the bikeshop?
Your height will tell you almost everything you need to get the right size. You're a little shorter than me, so you'll be either a 54 or 56. Beyond that I can't really give fit advice.
While I don't own a caad12, I do own a Cannondale slate which uses the same frame and I got mine for 2500 us dollars. I got mine right as the 2018 models were coming out so I got like 1000 dollars off. I've changed parts but overall it's really great.
31 years of road riding and racing and never broke a cable.... did use Di2 and was impressed with the front shifting but not worth the cost or complexity
Ride Adelaide can I ask your height and inseam I'm on the fence between a 56 or 58 . I'm 186cm tall with a 95 cm inseam. So more legs then torso and I can't test ride ur input would be great. Thanks
red etap is 3000 Australian. Thats half the cost. Buying similar carbon clinchers will run you at least 1500 Australian unless you buy chinese. The handlebars, stem and seatpost are all cannondale c1 I believe, which are extremely expensive, precision manufactured alloy similar to extralite parts. This bike costs what it should, and maybe a bit less.
I am ready for a new, lighter bike. Own a '94 Pinarello Stelvio and a 2000 CAAD2, both self-assembled, the CAAD2 I made into a trekking/randonneur. Made in their respective proper countries. So, I recently admired both a Pina GAN S and a CAAD12. Waddayaknow, they both sported a hateful chromed sticker on their bottom-bracket - Made In Taiwan. Look for it. No deal for me, I'll either go boutique for the frame, or a larger brand of which I'm pretty sure it's not Asian. Hey, I'll buy a Giant if I want an Asian bike. No sweat there. But don't deny your roots as a brand by selling out this way. The insane thing is, the fake Pinas come from mainland China...
I have a caad12 with a 10 speed force group and a 1x and it is super light. About 15lbs. Dedicated race bike. I love how it feels.

That sounds line an awesome build! I understand why people are so passionate about their CAADs. They're so good, and cheap.
You already know
I'm a Caad 12 owner and have owned a Giant TCR with their top of the range Aluxx SL Frame. The Cannondale shows that not all Aluminium frames are built equal. Very unbiased review! Nice one!
Cheers mate!
If you are already a strong climber, with the CAAD12 and good wheels you will basically smoke many riders on much more expensive carbon machines...
Love the color! I am a CAAD 5 owner and love my Cannondale!
Purchased a CAAD12 and it's like a breath of fresh air every time I ride it.. even with the 105 groupset.. currently saving not for the next bike, but for an etap and carbon wheelset upgrade.. it is so good.!!
Just built a CAAD12 from scratch with Ultegra Di2. It's lighter than my carbon Giant Avail lol. It handles so well, I love it!!
Oh, it'd be night and day compared to the Avail. Heaps of women-specific geometry frames have really lazy front ends. Cuz women don't want bikes with race handling apparently ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I have a 2016 version of CAAD12 and I love it so much.
Bought a Caad 10, loved it. Bought a Hi-mod Evo, love it and just got a Caad 12 & I’m sure I’ll love it! Beautiful bike by the way!
Caad 8 here with campy 15 years old, still in love...
I've got a 2017 Integra caad 12 love it.changed wheels an tires mavic kyrsium ssc an pirelli p zeros 23mm super bike
I love this bike. Have ridden this bike & it’s very similar to my SuperSix Evo Hi-mod!
I'm looking into a new road bike and at the start I fell in love with the caad12. Then I thought that it was time to experience carbon so have been lookingqt the Supersix. I don't know why, but I just keep coming back to looking at the Caad. Man, decisions decisions - I really don't know
I like it more than the Allez. I'm definitely going to build one on DuraAce mechanical groupset!
I like it more than the Allez too. Unfortunately I own the Allez and have to give the CAAD back.
Where did you get that kit? @4:48. That is fire..
Right here mate: biketivist.cc/collections/performance-gear/products/wanderlust-jersey
I’m illuminated and carbonated! That’s a sweet bike, don’t think it’s for me because I already have the 2015 Allez DSW pro model but I would get that one if I wanted another alloy bike. At the moment I’m enjoying my 2018 Roubaix too much to even consider another bike.
I still feel my 2011 caad10 bought new with upgraded ultegra components and boyd wheels is on par with this red etap.
Good review James. Dig ones like these. Cheers.
Thanks so much mate! I like doing the gear 'n tech vids. Hopefully I can help a few people drop their coin in the right places
Caad 10 black inc.sram red disc here!
Such a nice bike!
I totally agree with those wheels, they are fine for climbing and stable but not fast when compared with C50 Dura ace with aluminum brake rims. I am guessing that the hubs could probably be better
Is that hazard orange paint? I mean the frame paint.
Plus with the right cables, you can tune mechanical to shift faster than any electronic group.
I ahve the 2017 shimano 105. It was cheap but I probably doubled the cost with the stuff I put on it. But that's beacuse I love how this bike feels.
I've built a 2016 CAAD12 Black Inc frame set (in the boring, er, requisite black colorway) with full Dura Ace 9100, Ceramic Speed Pully, a C bear BB, Save seat post, Fizik CF seat, Cannonades SiSl2 crankset, a Black Inc integrated handlebar, the newest gen Zippier 404 FC, Vittoria Corsa G+ with latex tubes. Ever ridden Ultegra 6800? It will happen. Oh yes. It. Will. Happen.
My caad 12 105 is awesome. I love it.
Really like the caad12 and almost bought one, but I just went for the caad13 and I love the upgrades on the frame. Would be nice if you can bring the caad13 to your channel... ✌🏽
I like the colour. The Vittoria corsa tyres are nice tyres they do wear fast unfortunately

Thanks so much Nicholas, that's very nice of you to say! I reckon your CAAD will be ace on a long holiday. Bikepacking is pretty rad!
I love my black CAAD12 (2017), with standard Ultegra group set. But I’ve been thinking about upgrading to Di2 or maybe E-tap. Suggestions?
Di2 and Etap are great! If you have the money and want to do the upgrade then knock yourself out.
eTAP Rocks!!!! s6.postimg.cc/uj647g4nl/CAAD12_No_Plates.png

i plan to trade my 2015 giant tcr advanced 2 for 2019 Caad12 frameset. Any opinion or suggestion ? thanks!

You look like Toreto!
cannondale caad 12 owner ... amazing bike.
Do a comparison between that and an Trek emonda AL.
I wish I could. It can be very hard to get review bikes in Aus and Trek are one of the hardest to get anything from :(
and trek are garbage anyway. Cannondale or specialized are some of the greatest domestic bikes out there.
If you only got to keep one, caad12 or allez sprint if you lived in a flat area?
CAAD12. It's more chilled and has a better ride quality.
Lighter than my full carbon giant defy with carbon wheels. crazy... Although I have disk brakes but still.
Sneaky weight in the finishing kit maybe? Plus, I think Defy frames are pretty beefy carbon.
Ride Adelaide, What gearing would you preferred for Climbing? Im thinking about (52-36 / 11-28) or (53-39 / 11-32 or 11-30) or would you suggest gearing that would good and comfortable for climbing. Thanks in advance

Please review the new trek emonda alr!
Cannondale is top imo. Best aluminum frames 👍
But is there a disc version🤔 (I hope so)
Eli Douek there is but it’s not thru axle if I recall correctly so I wouldn’t recommend it.
Yup, there's a couple of disc builds with the top option having Ultegrs R8020
How is it that heavy? Mine is the cheapest 105 and weights 7.8kg... I only put some Chinese carbon wheels
Must be the uncut steerer. That's gotta be 4kg alone!
Prastt what size ?
I was wondering the same. I went with the frame set option and build my own etap CAAD12. It ended up under 6.5kg.
F K 48
How about the sizes? can I trust the size chart? I am 178-179cm high - should I order a size 54 or 56?
There's a lot of things to consider here; not just your height but your bike fit and riding position. I send a lot of people over to www.geometrygeeks.bike so they can compare their current bike to the one they're investigating. That'll tell you how different the geometry is to what you're used to. 2005 caad 8 here still in love nice bike but no sale..
Cannondale sure makes one of the best aluminium frames. I still ride my 1987 criterioum series. I don't wana let go of it. 😆
inexpensive owsomeness
I want to buy this bike, but does the BB30 creak?
So far it's been quiet but it's only had 500km on it.
Can anyone help with the color code for Cannondale CAAD 12 (Red) as shown in the video
While I don't own a caad12, I do own a Cannondale slate which uses the same frame and I got mine for 2500 us dollars. I got mine right as the 2018 models were coming out so I got like 1000 dollars off. I've changed parts but overall it's really great.
Great bike but definitely not the same frame.
The CAAD12 is not just an aluminium bike. It's THE aluminium bike!
I have the Ultegra build with Dura Ace C40 and Spidering cranks
Spider Rings are friggin haaaawt
Ride Adelaide Difference between this crank and the old 10 speed 105 crankset is massive...
31 years of road riding and racing and never broke a cable.... did use Di2 and was impressed with the front shifting but not worth the cost or complexity
we heard you the first time just chose to ignore your comment
@Rideadelaide What is the size of your frame CAAD12???
Size Large mate.
@@JustRideAdelaide Thank you so much! Anyways, I like your bike. My dream bike.
I put a cannon dale carbon headset with carbon bars Ultegra full set. Head carbon wheels . Fast
what's your inseam?
Errr, dunno. I run my saddle height at 795mm from centre of crank to top of seat if that helps.
please someone tell me what that garmin mount is i need it so bad
It's a Cannondale C1 Ultralight stem with a Garmin face plate mount. Check in with your Cannondale dealer
That' s my next bike...i love aluminum and climbs
Sizing Help:
I'm 178 cm (5ft10") with 83 cm (32,5) inseam. Saddle height is at 73 cm from BB. It' s my first real road bike
Size 54 or 52?
54
is the frame ok for a rider weight 80kg.?
Definitely
Im a caad8 owner, but I really want to be a caad12 owner :)
Keep you 8. I have a CAAD 5 from I think about 1998/99. It feels great. I like my CAAD 12 but I take the 5 out more.
What size caad was that?
56/L
Ride Adelaide can I ask your height and inseam I'm on the fence between a 56 or 58 . I'm 186cm tall with a 95 cm inseam. So more legs then torso and I can't test ride ur input would be great. Thanks
You should choose de 58cm because of your inseam. I'm 188cm tall for an inseam of 89cm. I have a CAAD12 58cm and the fit is perfect.
Any aluminum bike is always harsher than carbon in my opinion l have a caad x and know the difference
What is the reason to combine high end groupset with low end frameset? I personal prefer high end frameset and lower end groupset.
Agreed. But the seatpost diameter is shit. So little to choose from
You can sell a kidney and get some ENVE!
Ride Adelaide but then you have to sell them both... Lol
Yeah but ENVE!!!!!!
Its a real sign of the times that $6.5K just gets you a nice frame with mostly fine parts ;-)
Red eTap is a fair bucket of clams!
red etap is 3000 Australian. Thats half the cost. Buying similar carbon clinchers will run you at least 1500 Australian unless you buy chinese. The handlebars, stem and seatpost are all cannondale c1 I believe, which are extremely expensive, precision manufactured alloy similar to extralite parts. Would prefer Giant TCR.

But don't deny your roots as a brand by selling out this way. The insane thing is, the fake Pinas come from mainland China...
I love caad 12 d best 🤗🤗🤗
Snap shifter cable? More than 4 decades of cycling never had snap a shifter cable. What are you smoking man?
rear brake housing looks too long
A 17lb $6000 bike? My Emonda SL weighs 15.1 (with pedals) running Sram Red and Easton SLX 90... and I paid less than $5500... suck it aluminium
alluminati are real
Super crazy mind people buy this I think
I want to be.
