    The theme music was composed entirely through multitracking the Easel Command and using various functions therein. The drums were created from GarageBand loops.

    I have wanted an Easel for soooo long. Maybe 2021 will be the year. Buchla sounds so warm and fuzzy in all the best ways.

      I know but now that I’m about to pull the trigger I’m wondering should I get something else... it was no question before I could actually get one...

      @@graviton9282 That will always be the paradox of saving up for something expensive. Once you can afford it, you will start second-guessing your decision and wonder whether you would be better off buying several cheaper things instead. The way I like thinking of it is as follows: if I don't like it, I can return it, or I could sell it at a very decent second-hand price too, the small difference between new and used price being the only cost to me in the long run if I later decide I don't gel with something.
      Every time I play with Arturia's software emulation, I know I will get one of these some day.

    Since I can't expect to win the lottery, watching videos like this makes me start thinking about what I could sell to afford one. I have a feeling my stamp collection will have to go one of these days...

    You’ve done a superbb job with these tutorials Marc. Your pace, explanations and palpable passion is brilliant. Thankyou so much. I’ve watched them all and now feel extremely confident for when my baby arrives in a couple of weeks. She will sit next to my Minimoog…😍😍

      Thank you so much, and I'm glad they work well for you! A Minimoog and an Easel is a great, if uncommon, combination!

    I always find it fascinating just how much that frequency multiplier sounds like digital PM - it's quite profound how such different technologies made years apart achieve such similar results. Yet while the two synthesis methods can strike such acoustically and mathematically similar results their applications and public opinion seem to drastically differ (as much as any two synthesizers can differ from one and other). It just goes to show how peoples experience and preconceived notions can take president over the pragmatic aural reality .

      Yeah, I remember when a friend first showed me the 0coast (similar wavefolding action): My reaction was "what is this, Adlib?" :D

    I can only imagine what you could do with multiple complex oscillators

      I really feel with timbres this complex, homophonically layering them can often detract from the over all experience by adding too much in phase cancellation. A complex oscillator poly synth though.. now we're talking!

    I think the 200e is all digital tho
    Even the 261e complex Osc

      'tis

      @automaticgainsay  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, I mean, it's not ALL digital... there are analog elements in a lot of the modules. The 261e, for example, has a digital sine core... but the rest of the sound path is analog.

    Why the Tiny Jack and not a standard 3.5mm ???!!!

    • @automaticgainsay
      @automaticgainsay  4 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      There are a number of reasons, actually. First: This is a Buchla. Don Buchla was one of the original innovators of modular electronic instruments, and used this standard throughout all of his modular designs. Second, compared to Buchla, Eurorack is a very, very recent thing. Third, Don didn't design his modules with the concept in mind that is currently employed with Eurorack... a concept where you buy all sorts of different modules that do all sorts of individual things from all sorts of companies. Don designed his modular instruments with overarching systems in mind... he intended for his modular instruments to be made up of his modules. As such, it wasn't about compatibility with other systems, it was about complimentary functions.
      Essentially, Tinijax IS Buchla standard. :)
      All of that being said: 3.5mm cables can be used in Tinijax jacks. You'll be fine. However, don't try to cram Tinijax cables into your sad, tiny 3.5mm jacks! :D
