Abe Cunningham is a hell of an underrated drummer. He isn't the flashiest and neither the typical metal drummer, but that's what makes him special. Man got grooves for days and creative beats, he definitely pulls from a lot of other styles of music like jazz and funk giving him a very distinct voice as a metal drummer.

This was actually the first song I ever heard by Deftones. My brother made me a mix CD of different songs that he thought I would like. And one late night I couldn’t sleep, so I listen to the CD and found this little gem towards the end. I loved it so much that I included it in an audio drama that I made at the time. Of course, this was not released to the public, so I was able to get away with actually putting that song in there. It was for my own listening pleasure so I included it but it’s such a cool song and I was right smack in the middle of my high school days when I discovered it.
Entombed, cherry waves, sextape, xerxes, kimdracula, knife party, Rosemary. Literally just pick one for your next deftones song, they got so many atmospheric bangers that make you feel like you are high or floating.
If you like the rides that Tool songs take you on, "Rosemary" by Deftones is one of my favorites. I don't want to give away the meaning behind the song, though. The prose at play is so evocative that, like Maynard's writing, you can interpret in many ways and be at peace with your own take. It's powerful, dramatic, beautifully composed, and an audio journey. Give it a shot, you won't regret it.
I was in high school when Nu Metal came on the scene and was always a Korn fan and thought Deftones was an imitation and never gave theyre music a listen...im 40 now and stumbled on the video for Hole In The Earth late last year and I'm kicking myself for all the years I missed out on the amazing songs Deftones were making, now theyre my favorite band to listen to...better late than never I suppose 🤟🖤
the entire album is an experience... Lay down in bed, with the lights out and the speaker turnt up..... take a few hits off that water bong and you are in for an incredible musical adventure.
Definitely regarded as one of their best, the next track on this album, Elite, actually won a Grammy for best metal song that year. It’s heavyyy but epic

I think you'd also like Cherry Waves from Saturday Night Wrist. They are by far my favorite band. I love that you loved this one too. Digital Bath is my favorite White Pony song for sure. This song is a whole-ass vibe. "Bath" is fitting, since it just washes over you. I know there's something else that hits me the same way, but it's too early in the morning for my brain to work. I'll let you know if I think of it, haha.
Deftones - You’ve seen the butcher is one of my favorites and this is right up there. Before I knew what the song was about it hit home with me because I had this girl that was a friend I hung out with a lot and I wanted it to be more.
My favorite song is possibly Prayers/Triangles when I hear that song reminds me of summer time before the world went wrong with my wife driving around.
Hell yeah man…this is my jam. I remember getting a bootleg of this whole cd from some little shop in Ocean Coty, MD…a month before it came out. Me and all my boys were so stoked! This whole cd is an absolute masterpiece. Much love my brother. ✌🏽😎🤘🏽

So glad you loved this. When this came out over 20 years ago, it became my go-to song to introduce new listeners. deftones have a wide range, but a very distinct, unique sound. And I found that if any new listener didn't like this, they probably wouldn't like anything else. They go from very soft and sultry to loud and hard all in the flow of this song, but it hits home. As usual, the lyrics are a different side lol, but the overall sound is great and draws you in. Thanks again for all that you do.

Only the Deftones can be the Deftones. You can’t replicate it. There’s an ethereal quality but it’s all tight. Chino is an amazing singer.
