R.I.P Chi Cheng! This was the last *released* album with him on Bass and Backing Vocals. Also: Abe Cunningham is such a criminally underrated drummer. His groove and sound is so easily recognizable. So much style and flow!
Same, i was in high school in the 2000's and adrenaline-white pony got me through such a huge part of my life. I would wake up listening to them on my Walkman (all day) and fall asleep with my headphones on. Kind of bittersweet, especially listening to this song while l type this.
The band that united everyone in my first band way back in high school. The nu metal kid, the grunge kids, the straight edge kid... So many good memories to their music over the years.
That was a solid Deftones pick, but as a long-time fan of them I'd like to suggest that you consider picking a second song of theirs to show Judson because they have both a shoegazey side to them as well as a more riffy side to their music. Cherry Waves is definitely a great pick for the more shoegaze side, and if you guys choose to revisit their music I'd like to suggest that you consider looking at either My Own Summer or Rocket Skates as options for more riff oriented songs of theirs.
Interesting choice for a first song, keep the Deftones coming! They are such a good band, so many good songs. I feel this one is a more basic song from them comparing to others, but It could be a good transitional song into them maybe for someone not used to this style of music. Next I'd recommend Digital Bath or Tempest. Your videos never fail to entertain guys!
I think the ligh feathery scream does actually add towards the track. This type of a song didn't need My Own Summer type screaming, most bands wouldn't even have put screaming in a ballad like this, but I feel like Deftones managed to find the perfect scream to contribute to the song's dark surreal feel. One more thing I noticed is how the scream on the part "The Waves SUCK" sounds like its coming from underwater by someone drowning perhaps, stuck under the waves.
Chino does an amazing job of throwing the weirdest, most unexpected vocal note into music that creates such fun, discordant sounds. I think it's a bit part of what makes them unique.
Such an incredible album. And to think how tense things were, how much Chino was just 'done' with Deftones at this point..To have your singer come in with lyrics that say "I hate all of my friends some times, they lack taste" lol
Don’t think twice is my favorite Dylan song, so beautiful on the piano. - Also, I saw Deftones at a festival 9 years ago, they killed! Glad you kept the outro in, it’s nice to end on a jovial note. Now, “Saturday night wrist” definitely alludes to some Sextones, the freudian slip is reasonable.
Oh yeah, congrats in advance for reaching 25k subs.. i know you'll probably get it by the time i finish writing this, cuz you guys rule.. it'll probably take no time at all before you hit 50, or even 100k at the rate y'all are moving up.. that list of subs is going to measure greatly quite soon, as you continue your great measures! 🤘👍🖖
Favourite songs from this album are this song Hole In The Earth and the instrumental. Never really dived into the full album I always go back to Koi No Yokan & White Pony
Areneline and Around the Fur is where Deftones' good stuff is at. So many classic there. My personal favorite would be Mascara and Dai the Flu, but Be Quiet and Drive would be a more acceptable choice for the next listen.
This was another great video and I love your stuff, I always tune in for the Slipknot. Deftones is my favorite band so it's safe to say I was excited when I saw you made one for Cherry Waves. I recommend maybe one of their earlier sounds to show him that they can also be more intense, maybe Minus Blindfold or Damone?
Since you are familiar with Tool, you should check out Deftones - Passenger ft Maynard from Tool. Some others I'd suggest are Be Quiet And Drive, Feiticeira, Youve Seen The Bitcher, Riviere, Pink Maggot, Digital Bath. I loved the outro BTW.
I'd love to see your reaction to the music of Igorrr - Houmous. It's some seriously experimental stuff, and I think it would be amazing to hear your thoughts on it
Listen to Gore, that one's more metal, off the album of the same name. It's really up beat, Chino is screaming his head off and it's got a great finish!😮
"The album title Saturday Night Wrist alludes to the nerve damage a user gets from falling asleep on their arm - one of those lonely nights when, according to Chino, “your only best friend is your shaking wrist.”"
Adrenaline through Self-titled run has all their best stuff. Digital Bath, Be Quiet and Drive, My Own Summer, Around the Fur, Hexagram, Minerva, RX Queen.
Can I please listen to some wonderful tracks? Therion - Rise of Sodom and Gomorrah Childrens of the bodom - hate me Childrens of the bodom - Downfall AMORPHIS - Amongst Stars Amon Amarth - Twilight Of The Thunder God Halford - Resurrection
Sextape would be a great choice for a deftones song to listen to if your not thats familiar with them. It is a beautiful song. I think from a composition stanpoint you would enjoy it. Cheers
How about sex tapes, by protest the hero instead? Or c'est la vie, or bloodmeat? Some good canadian kids, who've been bringing some of the best songs in technical metal since they were in high school, and those 3 are among my faves for sure.. the talk of sex tape by deftones just made me think of them, cuz i prefer the protest the hero one by far, but I'm a also deftones fan, so I won't talk smack about either one. Proceed gentlemen! 🤘👍🖖
Yeah I agree, and idrk what he was talking about when he played the notes at the end. It was kinda close to how he sounded but definitely wasn’t the notes chino was singing
lol they totally are the s**tones... you never got down to deftones idk what your doing in your life, but you ain't do it right.. Snw is one of my favorites !! This album is so under rated its very sad for me. think if your a true deftones fan from the start you'd appreciate it, i loved this album more than i did with gore, or yokan. but i still love those ones. Maybe you have to be more of a depressive to appreciate the lyrics, & hauntingness of it. when i first bought the album when it came out i had on repeat like 24/7 even at my damnnn job. deftones is one of those bands that every album they have created and your in love with every single track that is so rare to find in band's these day's.
Maybe I'm totally off on this, and let me just say I love this song..but it really feels like the final not in the bass guitar part of the verse is sharp and out of key. Like it should be one note lower.
If linus says he likes this singer im gonna freak out.... Especially after not digging the evils singer... 😶... Like you ooo ooo.. Lol... But he does like dylan tho.. Who should never ever ever sing into a microphone... Stick to writting songs bob
Yeah, Chino isn’t really a good vocalist (that kinda goes for the rest of the band members’ respective instruments as well, except the drummer imo), but that’s kinda what they were going for, it’s their style.
Personally I think this album is past their highest point in their career (Around The Fur/White Pony ❤🩹❤🩹❤🩹), but i do love it. It comes with a heavy feeling and is for the very depressed. I guess you do like Team Sleep as well. More drone/ambient, but quite gloomy.. Deftones... I have to say: if you go for it, I hope you also took a dive into the song Minerva. Passenger (feat. Maynard James Keenan) is also a very visceral experience which I would really like to see your opinions on. Please do tell me if I missed the video for it earlier on. Otherwise: please go for it!
R.I.P Chi Cheng! This was the last *released* album with him on Bass and Backing Vocals.
Also: Abe Cunningham is such a criminally underrated drummer. His groove and sound is so easily recognizable. So much style and flow!
I was so fortunate to see him perform during the white pony tour. I was 16.
I agree with you, Richard. The Adrenaline album through to White Pony is their golden era for me. I spent so many hours with Adrenaline as a teenager.
\m/ agreed
Yep agreed.
Same, i was in high school in the 2000's and adrenaline-white pony got me through such a huge part of my life. I would wake up listening to them on my Walkman (all day) and fall asleep with my headphones on. Kind of bittersweet, especially listening to this song while l type this.
Knife party, my own summer, digital bath, change, rosemary, tempest, diamond eyes. Lot of choices to go next.
The band that united everyone in my first band way back in high school. The nu metal kid, the grunge kids, the straight edge kid... So many good memories to their music over the years.
Deftones suggestions: Digithal Bath, Change, Kimdracula, Beware, Passenger, You’ve Seen The Butcher, Minerva, Knife Prty…
Excellent choices
Great picks. I personally would add Rosemary to that list.
pink cellphone
My fave 😅
I'd also add entombed
That was a solid Deftones pick, but as a long-time fan of them I'd like to suggest that you consider picking a second song of theirs to show Judson because they have both a shoegazey side to them as well as a more riffy side to their music. Deftones - beauty school
Interesting choice for a first song, keep the Deftones coming! They are such a good band, so many good songs. I feel this one is a more basic song from them comparing to others, but It could be a good transitional song into them maybe for someone not used to this style of music.

Your videos never fail to entertain guys!
Man the 2000s and before - Deftones stuff is on another level. Nothing like it
I think the ligh feathery scream does actually add towards the track. This type of a song didn't need My Own Summer type screaming, most bands wouldn't even have put screaming in a ballad like this, but I feel like Deftones managed to find the perfect scream to contribute to the song's dark surreal feel.

Should do rosemary next by deftones!
Chino does an amazing job of throwing the weirdest, most unexpected vocal note into music that creates such fun, discordant sounds. I think it's a bit part of what makes them unique.
Minerva, passenger or Xerces are some of my favorites. So many good songs to pick from! Their cover of Drive by The Cars is pretty cool too.
Beautiful song
Such an incredible album. And to think how tense things were, how much Chino was just 'done' with Deftones at this point..To have your singer come in with lyrics that say "I hate all of my friends some times, they lack taste" lol
Be quiet and Drive has got to be next. Best song from their best album (as well as Headup)
Judson, your ear training is killing me. I wish I could get stuff this quickly... and I'm far from being a beginner musician
Digital bath is true banger, that should be one to go for!
I didn’t know the history around it. Thanks for that. I’ve always held this one in high regard along with Around the Fur.
Rosemary by deftones is great also
Haha, that outro.... too funny! 🙂
Looking forward to the Sextones album lol.
😂
Sunny Day Real Estate would be a great band to check out if you liked Deftones. “How it Feels to be Something On” is a sure fire winner.
Deftones is timeless. 20 years from Nu-Metal and era and nobody is around anymore. They're like Radiohead level.
Those screams were good as good can be bro
how bout a Kimdracula reaction? By Deftones, of course, not the band called Kimdracula
🤠
The bass on this song is beyond rock and roll for sure
Oh yeah, congrats in advance for reaching 25k subs.. i know you'll probably get it by the time i finish writing this, cuz you guys rule.. it'll probably take no time at all before you hit 50, or even 100k at the rate y'all are moving up.. that list of subs is going to measure greatly quite soon, as you continue your great measures! 🤘👍🖖
Digital Bath....pls!
If tickets to see the SexTones don't cost $69, it'll be a shame on your nation.
For that price the show should really be a double header.
Pumping these episodes out fast guys. Type o negative white slavery or rush nobody's hero
Leg taps by Richard over drums 👏🏻👏🏻😂

I recommend maybe one of their earlier sounds to show him that they can also be more intense, maybe Minus Blindfold or Damone?
great ending... 😂😂
You guys gotta do Rocket Skates.. Keep up the reactions, ❤ the channel.
DEFinitely need to do Digital Bath next! And if you want some screaming, Hexagram or Elite is a must.
Another great reaction. If you take suggestions, I would say Coheed and Cambria or/and Dance Gavin Dance. Or Chevelle.
Glad yall did the DT !! Thanks fellas
this is a fun concept
haha old school deftones fans genuinely do see SNW as the "newer" deftones stuff...despite it being nearly 20 years old.
All Deftones is good 👍
That exodus shirt rules my guy
More Deftones 🤚😔🤚
gonna need to hear be quiet and drive, passenger, digital bath fr
ceremony next please
Since you are familiar with Tool, you should check out Deftones - Passenger ft Maynard from Tool. Some others I'd suggest are Be Quiet And Drive, Feiticeira, Youve Seen The Bitcher, Riviere, Pink Maggot, Digital Bath. I loved the outro BTW.
You guys should listen to
Higher- Sleep Token
Love that rendition of Don’t Think Twice. One of my fav Dylan songs.
I don’t know how, but I didn’t realize it was Don’t Think Twice, even tho I love this song.
I thought it was O Christmas Tree for some reason :D
“Sextones” 😆😆
No no richard..for a first timer i would have went with shove it... And make him watch the shark video..bring back those childhood jaws fears 😳...😂
I'd love to see your reaction to the music of Igorrr - Houmous. It's some seriously experimental stuff, and I think it would be amazing to hear your thoughts on it
Makes sense that Neil Patrick Harris knows the piano.
Anesthetize porcupine tree live please !
That song is a masterpiece.
Listen to Gore, that one's more metal, off the album of the same name. It's really up beat, Chino is screaming his head off and it's got a great finish!😮
lol my friends had a band named Sexstone!! They said they it meant “fucking rock= sex stone” 😂
"The album title Saturday Night Wrist alludes to the nerve damage a user gets from falling asleep on their arm - one of those lonely nights when, according to Chino, “your only best friend is your shaking wrist.”"
can you make him listen to minerva and see if he notices the piano/ organ type synths in the background!
👍👍👍
bro looks like neil patrick harris
Sextones is actually a nickname fans call the band given the nature of some of their catalog.
Adrenaline through Self-titled run has all their best stuff. Digital Bath, Be Quiet and Drive, My Own Summer, Around the Fur, Hexagram, Minerva, RX Queen.
In terms of melody I think Rosemary, Entombed and Xerces would be good choices, kinda have the same vibe as this song.
Went over well if you ask me.
you should do symphony x
try AROUND THE FUR. self title song off that album
Can I please listen to some wonderful tracks?
Therion - Rise of Sodom and Gomorrah
Childrens of the bodom - hate me
Childrens of the bodom - Downfall
AMORPHIS - Amongst Stars
Amon Amarth - Twilight Of The Thunder God
Halford - Resurrection
Sextape would be a great choice for a deftones song to listen to if your not thats familiar with them. It is a beautiful song. I think from a composition stanpoint you would enjoy it. Cheers
Try headless by them
Sextones…… that’s freaking hilarious. The end had me laughing my ass laugh!!!!
Ass laugh =butt trumpet ?
EXODUS😍
How about sex tapes, by protest the hero instead? Or c'est la vie, or bloodmeat? Some good canadian kids, who've been bringing some of the best songs in technical metal since they were in high school, and those 3 are among my faves for sure.. the talk of sex tape by deftones just made me think of them, cuz i prefer the protest the hero one by far, but I'm a also deftones fan, so I won't talk smack about either one. Do rosemary next or my own summer pls!
If only bro wasn’t so distracted by his own piano this would be a good reaction video
Yeah I agree, and idrk what he was talking about when he played the notes at the end. It was kinda close to how he sounded but definitely wasn’t the notes chino was singing
Sextones was wild
lol they totally are the s**tones... you never got down to deftones idk what your doing in your life, but you ain't do it right.. Snw is one of my favorites !! You guys should react to Passenger (Deftones/Maynard James Keenan)
The Dylan song was a poignant start, musically, for an episode on this particular Deftones song.
Do Jesus Christ by brand new
Maybe I'm totally off on this, and let me just say I love this song..but it really feels like the final not in the bass guitar part of the verse is sharp and out of key. Like it should be one note lower.
Be quiet and drive
Dude. No piano was involved. Every song you play doesn't sound the same on piano as the original song.
Chino sings some altered Chord Extensions (very interesting considering that he does not play any instrument very well): Minerva has a #11
Personally I think this album is past their highest point in their career (Around The Fur/White Pony ❤🩹❤🩹❤🩹), but i do love it. It comes with a heavy feeling and is for the very depressed. I guess you do like Team Sleep as well. More drone/ambient, but quite gloomy..
