The BMW dealer you have referred to, if it was me, I would have to say something to them, not in a angry way but I would as the manager if you could have a quiet word, question if BTW are treating them badly (something that doesn't make it sound as its their fault) and be honest with him/her use words like disapointed for a BTW garage but say it in a way that your praising the company and that they are so fortunate to have a job with a prestigious company. I do my best to try and get on with everyone even if I am not a fan of them, if someone doesn't get on with me it bugs me and I get a need to know why. I talk a lot of b.s. too lol. It is odd though for a BTW dealership. Or just tell me to mind my own business lol

OK, BMW service and repairs are not cheap, but it's worth keeping up with maintenance. A thoroughly well thought out, superbly engineered package. Pure class. I found an immaculate 2014 F10 520d with just 12k (yes 12k!) miles on it, with full full BMW service history. I've done 20k miles in it flying up motorways at 90mph and it never misses a beat. Yes a 3 litre would be nice but I never feel I haven't got enough power. Must also say, my service experiences at BMW Preston & BMW Sheffield over the years have been absolutely spot on in every way. Can't fault them.

The acceleration was brilliant and when he let me have a go as a 18 year old I never tired that 50 - 70ish (haha) range, I remember the manual said 1st gear was capable of up to 50mph. Plus
the rear wheel drive made it go sidewards around roundabouts. Great fun. I reckon a 5 series is on the cards again at some point, if not for nostalgia alone. Proper stealth car. @@martilofficial7987 My 520d is pretty quiet and smooth for a diesel. It’s no slouch either, feels powerful and fast. The fuel economy is amazing. It’ll do around 45mpg on average, and 50/55 mpg on a long run, and that’s without driving particularly frugally. You could probably get it up 60/65mpg if you kept it in ECO mode and drove carefully enough. It can be good fun in sport mode around the country lanes, but it’s definitely at its best as a quiet, smooth, comfortable and brilliant motorway cruiser. I’ve had mine 8 months now and really love it. No problems at all so far either.🤞I bought it at 42,000 miles and it’s done just over 60,000 now. Just sold my beloved F10 530d M Sport saloon after 5.5 wonderful years with it. I completely agree with the review, it is the perfect car for 90 (or in my case 95%) of the time you ever need it. The best thing is ample power, refinement, comfort, quality interior pretty decent reliability. The only negative is that it’s a little big when trying to drive around in small cramped city streets, trying to park in multi story car parks and the run flat tyres can make the ride harsher than it should be. All in all a brilliant car especially if it involves driving long distances in supreme comfort. As my 3rd 5 series in a row (following my E39 and E60) the F10 is a thoroughly recommended.

Great Review, I have a F10 2015 M sport 520D which I have owned for 8 months now and is currently on 72k, has been driven 9k by me since purchase and I can say it is a brilliant car all round very economical and really cannot fault it. There is one problem I have had since owning was the head unit failing (on-board computer would just constantly boot up and then restart) which was thankfully replaced under warranty, but if this was to be replaced at my cost it would of been in excess of £1500 although there are BMW specialist who can repair for £200. I would recommend buying one of these.

One last visit (any warrenty work) and my mechanic takes over. 530D and its too damn quick for me, has to be driven with respect. Its just comforting to know you have it - whenever. Good review.
I had an F11 520d Modern from new and am now on an F10 530d M Sport. Doing around 20K a year, 75% on the motorway, I achieved around 46 and 41mpg respectively. The six cylinder is so much smoother than the 4 and given the small difference in mpg I think it’s worth going for the 3.0 if you can. After 4 years of ownership I’m supposed to be changing it this year, don’t like the ‘stick on’ screen in the new 5 so might just hold on to this one. No issues with the F10 so far but had the air conditioning pump go in the F11, luckily covered under warranty.

    I have an f11 2.5d msport.
I was disappointed but happy at the same time.
    Problems I had:
    - footwell leak due to shit drainage design had to replace the plastic flange
-12v fuses keep popping when you use car chargers
-Dashboard squeak wtf is that all about. It was dash removal and a screw that needed to be replaced
    -rear air suspension bag leaks
-the steering is electronic and you don't feel the road as much
    Advantages:
    -Totally comfortable
    -Fast af
-Corners like a train it never lets up
-Everybody gets the fuck out your way on the mway
    -tech is second to none
7 out of 10 ownership rating
    Great video btw

I think the half electric half manual seats are a good idea. My old Volvo V70 has fully electric seats, the wife got in the car moved the seat to her position, being shorter and thinner than me, a lot closer to the steering wheel. Then the seat ECU module thing packed up and I could not drive the car because I couldn't get the seat back far enough. Had to take the seat out and disconnect the module and put power straight to the motor to be able to move the seat. It was a faf, but that's the good thing about manual seats they can still be moved when the electronics pack up.

I must say I absolutely loved my 520 m sport. I would find myself looking at its reflection in shop windows as I passed, how sad 😂 great review

My mate has a 535d that is better specced technology pack with bigger screen and seats are heated and fully electric. I think only the base models have this wierd mechanical/electric combo

I have the 530d. It seems to be the Sports seats in the UK that have the odd half electric setup. Was the same with the previous generation.

It's completely stupid. To me, the whole point of electric seats is the memory function and without full-electrics it's a total fail.

I own the 520d M-sport. I had every extra available to me, I have the wider screen & fully electric seating with memory functions. It's not the model that makes the difference its how deep your pockets go when buying one.

Looks like it all depends on 1st buyers options. Mine in CH is 528i x-drive M-package 2016 facelift. I got Big screen, no shift peds half autom. seats allso hehe. Best thing about no full options is, less staff that wil give up and coast. My had 170000km. so it coast only 20K instead low km from 30 to 40K CHF. Just sayin for the info. Peace

The seats by far look hella comfy. More than the E class.

I had the same model and loved it. They look awesome! Although I know I just didn't suit it. I fell out of love with it when it cost me a new steering rack 3 months out of warranty and had no end of trouble with wheel balancing. In the end I gave the keys back and got me a VW T6 Kombi... best thing since sliced bread!

5:43 same with the BMW dealers here in Germany: they're unhelpful, uninterested and overly expensive. It's not a bug - it's a feature!

so glad they sorted the rear design out, on previous models it looked like an after thought.
