M J e39 looks better, has a better sounding V8, is lighter and has a manual transmission. E39 is far more immersive to drive compared to the fat, unreliable ugly F10. And a lot of people own E39s actually, grow up, old cars are better than new cars. They're easier to fix as well.

the g30 looks amazing though I actually caught myself looking at the f10 more... its just stunning.

all of 5series BMW's are brilliant!
To be honest, the new G30 5 Series has some exterior similarities with the E60 5 Series.
- The bonnet is closing on the kidney grills like the E60.
- That means the BMW emblem is on the bonnet like the E60.
- and in my opinion, the agressive look from the E60 is also to be seen in the new design of the headlights of the G30. The F10 has a more smiling looking design, while the G30 is way more agressive.
- and as BMW stated in this video. The taillights are more stretched into the side like the E60. (although the design is a little bit different.)
I work for BMW I'm an apprentice technician and we've had a couple of these g30s in and they are beautiful, beautiful cars
I like the new BMW 5 series build quality, infotainment system and the seats design better from the previous generation. Keep up the good work BMW!!

this car has an incredible aesthetic to it. so beautifully designed inside and out. and the performance is going to be crazy!

Yet the exterior of the sixth gen seems more appealing. Not sure why. They both look amazing of course. I think it's because of the angel eyes not being cut off like in the seventh gen. You're making it difficult for me to decide which will be my next BMW. :'D

I was thinking the 6th gen is better, then at 1:45 I was 100% certain that's it's definitely better then the newer model!
I love the look of the new 5 series, and this is coming from someone who loved the 6th gen 5 series as well. It was hard to top, but BMW did it. The only thing I'm not sure about is the little scoop in the body right behind and on top of the rear doors. Also, I do think they should've kept the LED strip part of the DRLs that lies on top of the two semi-circles that was present in the 6th gen. Overall, I love the new 5 series. Can't wait to see the next generation 6 series gran coupe. It's already the best looking sedan ever made, but there are a few design elements that are looking dated (like the headlights/front bumper area, and the reflectors beneath the tail lights, which I'd like to see removed). Can't wait. Good job, BMW!

I'm not one of those older cars are far better-new cars are shit type of guys however when BMW is doing a series of videos paying lineage to the history of the 5-series and skips two generations, doesn't make much sense. I was rather looking forward to seeing the E39 and E60 videos...The new car is a leap forward in technologies and interior quality/ styling.

I recently bought a 2013 f10 truly the most solid of the 6th generation. I will be upgrading to a g30 7th generation in a few years as long as the 2017 has no issues
The exterior design of the 6th generation F10 5 series was better. The rear lights of the new one looks like they came off a Honda Civic. One the other side the new interior is impressive.
Amazing vehicles, cant wait to be able to buy one of these, but as a college student I'll stick with my e34 for now

every generation has been incremental improvement (if you can call it that) and this proves it. Wider tail lights, i liked the old grill better. just changes, no need to make major changes to an already perfect formula.

The 5 Series 6th Generation definitely has a better look from the exterior side. Overall, the 5 Series 7th Generation resemble more like a 3 Series.
The F10 still looked pretty good up until the G30, good Lord the difference is stunning! Easily on par with the latest E-Class this time, except it looks far better on the outside too

Dang idk which one to get. I’m not sure if I should get that 2016 5 series or a 2017 one. I love the interior for the 2017 one but the exterior of the 2016 looks wayy better to me.

Me and my friend both have owned 5-series and are generally BMW enthusiasts, and we can't tell the difference on the street and laughed at the video because BMW actually needed to make a comparison video to highlight the difference, because the car appears to be a weak attempt at face lift branded new generation. BMW had so far revolutionized the definition of sedan with each new generation but this time it fell flat on their face.
This was a really helpful and well done video... please make more of these for other models.

at that time E39 was very special BMW even the e60 but the new generations felt normal like a Toyota corolla in my country:)

I think that f10 is way more "bmw" than this one. F10 had elegant look, while e60 had badass look. e39 was combination of both. And this 7th generation makes me buy e class because this looks more like a hyndai, honda, kia than bmw. Of course that is from my perspective, but i think that a lot of people would agree with me.

I think the mark of good design is how you hide the lines of construction. When they went to front hood looking like they just cut a line across the front of the car in the 6th, they messed up big. The hiding the line by having the hood cut across the lights and then the bean grills is how it should be done with the badge being on the hood.
