Tench fishing - Float Fishing For Tench (Video 121)

  • You join me for a tench fishing trip, rather determined to take a large tench on my favourite method "float fishing", from what can at times be a tricky and challenging water when implementing float tactics. I was to find a special tench and a new personal best come my way.
    Please note went for a bit of a different style for this video and as such a bit experimental, I have also used a music track for most of it, my apologies in advance to those of you whom might not enjoy the music, please do feel free to use the mute button.
    P.s
    Also not sure why I left my arms outstretched like superman whilst raking but there you go haha :P
    Royalty free/copyright free music is used during this video.

    I’ve just watched this video again and it’s been filmed and edited really well and nice music etc, but I do like it when you narrate more, telling us about the rig setup, bait used, ground bait, and all that stuff. Don’t be camera shy, you’re great at talking to camera! Cheers mate

    Hi Mark, I enjoyed the video and well done on that cracking tench. I sympathise with the blood pressure and weight loss thing. I promised my Dad I'd look after myself a bit better (I like a drink) and lose some weight, he passed away on the 11th Feb so I joined slimming world and have managed to lose a stone in my first 2 weeks (I'm addicted to bananas now). Anyway, keep the videos coming I enjoy your methods and you must be gifted as you catch some beautiful fish. All the best, Matt

      Hello there Matthew, firstly can I say that I am very sorry to hear of your fathers passing, my thoughts are with you and as my father bceomes more frail I know I will be facing similar. Well done on losing 2 stone and bananas are brilliant, despite what some health professionals say they are also low on glycemic index and fine for diabetics, I take them fishing with me and 2 per trip keeps you going well. I myself have lost nearly 3 stone and feeling better for it too. Many thanks regarding the video and it is nice to have you along for the ride as such.

    Hi the fisherman friend...your videos are very beautiful, i already caught tench much smaller and i love this fish, it is a robust and combative fish, pretty mouth , pretty red eyes, the mucus of the tench was used to heal in the Middle Ages , they are really very Big these fish , congratulations 🙏

      Hello there Toni and thank you so much for your kind words. Your description is perfect, they are combative but very very pretty fish and smart too. As their nickname suggests often referred to as "the Doctor fish" due to their slime and healing properties.

      @@francolinobasco Hello Mark, oh thank you for answering me it makes me happy, very beautiful Green fish and very Smart too, you know his story Well 👍, being young ,i treated my mother of her dry skin problems with this fish, one day i fished 2 large tench that i transported to the house and then released, i keep a divine memory with this fish, the ancient technique to bait the tench consists in throwing several clods of earth with grass and small worms that are in it, in the area where we want to fish,🙏

You know I was worrying so much about having not uploaded a new video, I put a lot into my filming and know you guys put a lot into watching my videos and posting comments, it went through my head many times "what if they think I have stopped making videos" "I have let people down" . Cheers Mark, it does not get more ideal than that in my book, I would have been happy on ledger, but there is something about float that is simply hard to beat when tench fishing and although it can be tough at times on certain venues, it means you appreciate it more when it happens. Thank you regarding health side, I had a few well meaning guys on youtube point out things were sliding with my weight issues and have/am trying to make that change.

The weight side is helping but it is not easy, so easy to pile the pounds on though. I admit I have comfort eaten when emotionally upset and that has played its part.

    Hi Mark, good to see you back out fishing and what a stonker of a tench to kick off the new season. I’ve had a few fish on the Thames so far which is encouraging as it was bad last season. Keep going with the diet, it will certainly help with the blood pressure. Hope you’re dad is ok, maybe get him back on the bank again this season? Looking forward to seeing more videos soon!

    • @francolinobasco
      @francolinobasco  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello Ian, thank you it was the perfect way to get back in action, I was honestly bowled over to have caught her. You are doing well to have a few off the Thames, as with the current weather the river is flowing (if you can call it that) very low and slow, far from ideal. I am hoping the weight management will help the blood pressure. My dad is middling, the heat really does him no favours with the diabetes and he insists on drinking hot cups of tea instead of cold water. It would be nice to have him come out for another trip, I can always try and ask but he can be a little stubborn at times.

      Thanks Gareth, it took me a while to calm down, which also included me some how managing to trip on my rucksack and landing mat and roll over in the swim afterwards lol. No let me just say a huge thank you for sticking by my channel it means a lot as I was worried because I had not uploaded for 3 months.

      Mark Erdwin Thanks! Yes, I have a ticket for a local tench water this season. I've done a few sessions using feeders so far but the lure of the float is there. I'd love a 7lber on the float!
      Well done Mark for speaking out about health and weight as a bloke - many would not be brave enough but so many will relate to what you shared. 🙂
      I change jobs in a few weeks so hope to be able to live and fish a bit more.

      Hey Mike, thank you very much, I was thinking of you fishing the other lake whilst I was on this particular one. It's a nice lake like most of them are in this area, but also can be a bit of wild west zone at times as I am sure you're more than aware given the location.

    • @michaellyddon323
      @michaellyddon323 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mark Erdwin Indeed, they can be weed hell all of them around there. It's not quite so bad on Nicks now since they've been blue dying it, though personally I prefer no dye and more weed lol.

    • @francolinobasco
      @francolinobasco  6 ปีที่แล้ว

    There he is! hi Mark been a while nice to see you back on the bank after so long and what a return! corking new PB tench that looked an absolute beauty i would have been dancing around for days after that lol. I'm the same as you in terms of weight, i have gone on diets and lost a bit, then got back on the munchies and put it all back on and more again and thats where i am now. Its difficult to stick at it with diets and limiting yourself to what you can eat but the rewards are there.
    If you lived closer to me we could do walks/light jogs together i think it helps when you have someone else in the same boat to work with when dieting and exercising but never mind.
    Since your last video i've been fishing one or two different venues, i fished at the well known Makins fishery last week in the blistering sun and had my first go at method feeder fishing. Just waiting for a new rod to arrive and hopefully i'll be giving pellet waggler fishing a go on Wednesday, i am waiting for a Maver Genesis Pro 11ft pellet waggler rod, and i now have a MAP ACS 4000FD reel, very nice reel with the automatic line clip system.
    Hope to see you again soon mate tight lines.

    • @francolinobasco
      @francolinobasco  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello there mate, it is good to hear from you, I was made up with this particular fish, although I love tench in general no matter the size, they have an almost friendly look to them, which helps hide how cute they can be when it comes to tempting a bite on this particular venue. You are right about the weight loss it can be swings and roundabouts with weight gain, the best I ever managed was dropping from 18 stone to 11 and that was a diet of bananas every day, for breakfast, lunch and dinner, needless to say I never wanted to see another banana ever again (lol) but it worked and to this day I think to myself I have felt as happy or healthy since that time, however I was also younger then 18/20 and easier to shift weight. I think you are right when you say that it helps to have someone to bounce off of with exercise as it keeps you both motivated during those harder periods. I know of Makins fishery, it is quite well known, the tackle you have ordered is very good, I know the MAP reels and the automatic line clip system is quite a good idea in my opinion.

    • @cns180784
      @cns180784 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was the same at that age, in fact when i was 16/17 i lost probably about 5 stone and ever since then my weight has slowly crept up with the odd diet and fat burning sessions to get it down a bit but i'm at my biggest i've ever been at the mo...just dont have the motivation to keep up the diet/jogs.
      I get some decent exercise when fishing though, mainly with loading and unloading my car as i have a few flights of stairs to negotiate and some heavy gear, mainly my seatbox. I'll be back at Makins not tomorrow but the Monday after, off to my local fishery the Riddings on Wednesday and Thursday and i've had a notification telling me my rod has arrived with the collection code so picking that up tomorrow.
      When/where will you be fishing next? is the lake you're fishing in this video the same moody- as you say- lake you fished for Tench at before? is it day ticket?
