A huge “Thank you” to Doug and his team for doing such a great job telling the story of my Greenwood Corvette build! It is such an honor to be featured. And I also want to thank everyone who took the time to offer such kind comments. It is always special to have one’s efforts appreciated by fellow builders.
Randy.... what a Stunning and Beautiful build this is. I am looking forward to getting to see this Beauty at GSL for sure and getting to catch up with you there.
@@chrissobak4702 Thank you Chris for your kind comments! Great to hear from you and I look forward to seeing you and your latest work at GSL too. See you next May!
This build is truly amazing a so inspiring. I would almost expect the smell of fuel if the fill cap was open. Thank you Doug and Randy for taking the time to share such incredible talent. As a cabinet maker I’ve had to duplicate some intricate woodwork on historic homes, of course that’s 1:1 scale nothing at all like this but I can appreciate having to make what you can’t buy.
Thank you for sharing this build. Indeed Randy, along with you and several other great builders have reached a level many would like to achieve. The need to share this knowledge allows the rest of us to perhaps pass over some of our failed attempt at perfecting some of the little details that stand out. Maybe someday a book with pictures will be written. Again thanks
Congrats to Randy on receiving a well deserved Best in Show award at the GSL Finale 2023, getting to see this in person was a real treat for me (aside from being there in person...)
This guy is a rock star!! I can't believe he built it all. But he did.... Love the Grateful Dead tunes looping in and out, too...love this channel....thnx
Randy, your work has been inspiring for many moons now. Thank you Doug for this in depth look at this uncompromising build. Than you Randy for your vision and labor of love. A magnificent achievement.
I met Randy at NNL Toledo early 1980's. He is a nice of a guy as he is talented. Randy showed me a ton of photos of this project at Dayton show but this is the first finished showing. Thanks
When I saw the started chassis in Toledo a few years ago, I was in awe of the quality and the engineering. Of course, that is the way Randy builds. Now to see it finished...WOW!!! The number is details is beyond counting. The video is also amazing. Watching Randy pick it up so easily shows how well the car is built. THANKS DOUG & RANDY for a great video of a true work of art.
The Corvette is incredible. What is also really neat is seeing the Sunoco Camaro sitting on the counter behind Randy. I remember that one well from a feature article in Scale Auto Enthusiast. That model was fantastic at the time, but the Corvette is a whole level (or two) beyond the Camaro.
Doug! Thank you for this video, the content in this channel is always very interesting. Randy Derr is another of those famous modelers since the 80s and was a regular in the pages of the Scale Auto Enthusiast magazines of the day. His Greenwood Corvette is nothing short of phenomenal and he has gone to great lengths around the world to research this unique racer to replicate. Great job on this model from a world class modelers👍🏁
Totally awesome! 5 years to build, I can’t wrap my head around that! You are right though, it looks like a real car, definitely not like a model. Thanks for sharing. Happy days and model on! 😎🇨🇦
How about this thing Mark? i`m glad you got to have a look at this video i was thinking of sending it through. That interior... very special build this is. Hope your well.
Again, thank you Doug and Randy, for sharing this incredible masterpiece of craftsmanship. (I am still picking my jaw up off the floor! LoL!) It just amazes me that builders of this caliber, (including yourself) are about the humblest people you'll ever meet. There is no need to brag about their creations; the creations themselves speak of the builder's skills far louder than they ever could!
What a fantastic video. Two of my idols breaking everything down step by step. I always enjoy when I get to see Randy at contests. He is hands down one of the nicest, most humble human beings I have ever met. And I always come away having learned something from him each time we talk. I got to see this model in person a few weeks ago. Incredible doesn't even begin to describe it. Thank you Doug for putting this out there for us all to learn from!
Thank you Clay! Always a pleasure conversing with you at the various model car events. Your consistent, clean builds inspire many of us builders (myself included) to improve our own work.
Best in show #4 at GSL for you! Awesome build once more, Randy. I can never equal your level of project management and execution but what you do inspires me, anyway. Another enjoyable video, Doug. I love what you do, too!
This man right here could build a few of these 1:12 scale cars and some rich racing enthusiast will pay huge money for these trust me . My uncle asks me to build certain models and cars that are racecars and he pays me 5-10 grand per build this guy could get easily 100k dollars plus off these cars like the Corvette
I'm slowly getting to this level of mastery but I doubt I ever will I'm building some amazing scratch built racecars like these but looking at his makes mine look like a ten year old butchered a kit joking but damn this guy is azing
Firstly just let me quickly mention that I am a big fan of your channel. I am so glad that I happend upon it several months ago and look forward to the next video. Randy Derr's Corvette is simply amazing. I have a question about the dry transfers though. Randy mentioned using the film from the dry transfer system on his lazer printed waterslide decals to protect them. I was wondering whether this would work on decades old kit decals to prevent them from shattering as soon as they hit the water, or is there a simpler way to save old decals?
Thanks for the great question Sandy. While I have not actually tried applying the clear film to old kit decals, I don’t think it will work. Here’s why: The film is applied to laser printed images using a heated laminator. The clear film bonds to the image because the heat from the laminator re-melts the printed toner, creating the bond. Kit decals use inks, not laser toner for their images, and it is unlikely the clear film will bond to those inks. Sorry.
@@randyderr9830 Thank you very much for your clear explanation. I guess it is back to spraying the old sheets with clear coat and hoping for the best. Are you on instagram or twitter? I would love to see other examples of your work.
Not sure what happened to that reply. As I was saying, I am not on either of those platforms, as I expect they could be a big distraction from building. Haha! Perhaps we can meet at a model show someday to compare notes. Best regards.
@@randyderr9830 Understood. Personaly I unashamedly use those platforms as a source of knowledge and for inspiration more than for contributing and have learned so much from fellow modelers which has improved my game. But, as you say, simply checking in on the people one follows can take up a fair bit of time each day. Unfortunately meeting up at a model show is unlikely (as much as I would love to) as I live way overseas. Anyway, thanks to "The Muse", it was lovely to meet you (virtualy at least) and admire your work. Happy Modeling.
That is an awesome model build, wow! I am looking for a body for the 1/25 scale AMT/ERTL 1966 Ford Fairlane GT/GTA. If anyone has a body they could part with just reply here, please. I will see it and contact you to work out the price, shipping, etc. Thanks!
