    In this episode Kerry and Andy explore the profound and piercing questions raised by Alma the Younger in Alma 5. They go through Alma's past, and how it got him to where he could understand and ask those questions. They also discuss the way Alma's questions help us become truly reborn, and the role that Christ and His atoning blood play in that. They focus on how real this can be for all of us and how we can make rebirth a continual part of our lives.
    We are grateful for our sponsors, and for our producer, BJ Muhlestein, and for Rich Nicholls, who composed and plays the music for the podcast.

    Very critical scriptures for us in America as we enter into a contentious election season.

    Really liked this discussion. I loved the idea why not change now when the rewards will be greater. My hope for my children. And me. I am changing in subtle ways and good ways. I also learned recently that the Plan of Salvation is different than the Plan of Redemption. That was fulfilled when our Savor atoned for our sins. I think that is important to differentiate between the two. I loved the references to the temple, the garment, clean hands and pure heart. I think we find so much of this in the endowment. I love these chapters in Alma. Thank you so much! Saving this video in my scripture playlist. 🥰💯✝️💫🙏🏼😇

      Amen! I hope the same for all of us, to change sooner rather than later to reap joy sooner and do more good!

    This was a great episode! Dr. Skinner is always informative. More importantly, his episodes always help me feel the Holy Spirit and deepen my testimony of Jesus Christ. Thank you, Kerry, for your commitment to help us dig deep into the scriptures and the witness they bear of the Divinity of Jesus Christ. 🙏

      I am so glad to hear that is what happens for you. It happens for me too. There is so much power in our discussing the things of God together so that we feel the Spirit more strongly and all become more Christlike together!

    Skinner never disappoints. I learned something new about the Holy Being an agent for God. We don’t know enough about his role and how he speaks and acts for the divine

    Thank you for the reminder that in order to continue to know of these things we must continually pay the price. Knowing the truths of the Gospel today does not mean we will know it tomorrow.

    Thank you so much for your knowledge and discussion, really enjoyed the wonderful truths and hopes you shared. Your discussion reminded me of a Neal A. Maxwell quote, that I am relating here to Alma 5, which I am paraphrasing and I hope not butchering. The Lord is giving away the secrets of the universe, (which I am interpreting to be his character), if we will not be offended by it.
    I am sure each of us is hoping to embrace all who our Saviour is for each of us.

    1:06:30 Is Br. Skinner saying it is a Fact that the virgin Mary was ushered by the Holy Ghost into the very presence of Heavenly Father..... And what is he implying by Mary being physically present with God the Father? The notion of physical sexual relations is NOT the doctrine of the church. Have you ever heard the Brethren teach it in general conference? Is it in the standard works, the curricular materials, or the handbooks of the Church? Is it a part of an official declaration or proclamation?

    • @TheScripturesAreReal
      @TheScripturesAreReal  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I do not think that is what he was implying. Quite the opposite, I think we both believe that things happened in a way that goes beyond what we understand or think of. I know that is my belief and it is what I understood from him.

      Whenever I have questions about things I do not fully understand, I like to remind myself that what I do know is that God fully knows everything and only does that which is perfect and right, I find peace there. Bless you as you seek to find understanding and peace in the big and wonderful plan of our Heavenly Father that blesses our life so much, as we follow His wonderful Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ.
