  • Thai Lion Air is a budget airline, but their baggage fees are not so budget-friendly. In fact, their fees will surpass the price of most intercontinental plane tickets!

It seems like this problem is mostly happening in Indonesia, but it is still good to be cautious with this company.

We had this problem before. Went to the lion air airport office in the dps airport. Paid and got the voucher for the luggage. Proceeded to the gate with no problems.
Really shitty that you cant buy it online with an international card. They used to offer free 15kg or 20kg of allowance with every ticket. I think that changed already.

Hi, I think there may be miscommunication with the cs rep. It's actually possible to buy prepaid baggage, and pay up later at their branch office or at the airport office (just as long as you've done the payment way before you checked in for the flight).
I've done this so many time. And yes, it's very inconvenient having to do it offline. But at least, there's an option.

I couldn’t buy tickets for their flight from the Russian card at all. The support service says that this can only be done with an Asian bank card. Its stupid

What i know, book through lionair.com or traveloka.com and they have the choices to add luggage there from 5, 10, 15, 20. Prices depends on the length of the trip. Eg I buy ticket 250k for DPS to LOP (30 mins flight) then you add luggage based on your weight of luggage you want to add. It cost me 135k for 10kg luggage. So in total I pay 385k. Paying at the airport it's gonna be a lot. So use their website and reliable third party agent. Some ticketing website they dont add the luggage choices as it is complicated.

Well, LionAir (Malindo) used to be one of the best low cost airlines in SEA, but recently they changed a few things: Baggage allowance, Meals,... But what the Staff did on DPS Airport wasn't related to Lion Air in any way. They just tried to rip you off for their own pockets.

First. Never use 3rd party sites to book flights.
    Second. Always pre pay baggage
Third. I have cad cc, I bought my tix & baggage using cad cc, but paid via line pay.
Buy tickets directly from airline. Saves tons of hassle

Yeah not only thai lion but lion air too. FYI Lion Air based on Indonesia and I never used Lion Air again because this things and many of indonesian people really got mad because of this matters and for me, their services are bad too. I suggest you all to booked another airlines because the baggage fees plus airlines fees equals with another airlines that better from Lion and off course free baggage (sorry for bad english)

Wow what an experience. Would you mind telling us how you got it in? Did you buy a one way ticket to get in and another one way to get out?

    • @JohnCastillo
      @JohnCastillo  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Benigno Malapitan yes, we bought separate one-way tickets. We bought a lot of our South East Asia tickets from the same website, trip.com, and did not have any issues with any other airline. This was the only airline of the ones we traveled that did not permit to pay for baggage through the site.

Why is it a "SCAM" when all the information about baggage fee's is right there on their website. Lion Air is a "Low Cost Carrier" and like dozens of other LCC's, make money on baggage fees. It seems that all you who are so quick to scream "Scam!!" go online and jump on the lowest fare you see without reading terms of carriage. It's not that difficult. Fly an LCC, travel light. If you have 25kg of stuff you can't live without, fly an airline that accommodates it and pay the greater fare.

    • @lawgeek9276

Maybe watch the video before arrogantly deciding you know better than everyone else.
      1. They were charged 224,000 ir, 10x the price of 500tb on the website.
      2. The people in the video paid significantly more in their incoming flight than their outgoing.
      3. Are you really saying $1000 is a reasonable baggage fee for a $81 flight?
This fee was not disclosed and this is absolutely a scam. It's possible that the airline doesn't even get the money, though it's their responsibility to make sure this doesn't happen.
By the way, apostrophes are for possesive nouns, not plurals
