I flew recently with United Airlines and their fees are ridiculous (first time flying with them, first time encountering pricey baggage fees). Idk if this is a hack, but what I found worked for me. Two days before I was on their website looking at the costs for extra bags and overweight fees. They have different requirements for different ticket levels. So if you're traveling economy, you're allowed 2 checked bags with a fee at 50lbs (not sure if per or total). If you're traveling Premium Economy, 2 checked bags, no fee, 50lbs. If you're traveling business or first class, no fees for both bags, 70lbs. So when I got to the check-in, I was on an economy ticket, I had my two regular bags and a case that had my equipment. In total I was gonna be charged $440+. I asked the agent what the charge was to upgrade to business class, $229. All my bags and case were now under the limit AND checked through to my final destination. I was on 3 connecting flights with an overnight layover in Atlanta.
yungrogue, I've had that work for me before in SE Asia but in North America, Business is almost always full. And last time that it wasn't full, the upgrade was far far more than a mere $229, so great score for you!
As a budget airline ticket agent, I just wanna say that we don't care if you come wearing your whole entire wardrobe as long as you still fit in your seat. And if the line is not long, we will also dont mind you pulling items out of your bags while it sits on the scale.
You sound like the nicest ticket agent ever! Can you elaborate on how you don't mind people taking stuff out of their bag when they put it on the scale? That seems to good to be true!
So as a budget airline ticket agent how do you explain selling only one ticket to a man whose tits and gut are so big they bulge over into the next seat and call that ‘being able to fit in one seat’ and yet if I go over by two lbs I get fined for £25
Had one agent weight me and my companion's luggage together - one of us was slightly over weight, but the other was significantly below allowance, so agent said "it evens out". I thought that was fair and beautiful
In the beginning of that sentence, I thought you meant you & the luggage were being weighed 😂😂😂 It’s nice to see people treat others with humanity. I hope that worked out for you!
I can never understand why cant all airline accept that. It make sense doesn’t it, like if your allowance evens out what’s the big deal. Our family travelled together and some heavier and some significantly lighter, kids like their small suitcases can only fit so much. and ticket sold was 25kg each what’s the big deal if it evens out. But no, some airline tell us to go and arrange to exact weight allowance
Wear your jeans, sweat shirt, hoodie or coat on the airplane. It can get chilly up there at 37k ft. And you’ll save a good amount of space in your bag.
I’m an aircraft/aviation expert with over 30 years experience, you are correct, unless there is an extreme amount of extra weight by nearly everyone on the plane it doesn’t really make any difference.
It's not about the plane, it's about the passengers and their safety. A piece of luggage weighing around 11 pounds (5 kg), falling from the overhead bins (approximately 6 to 6.5 feet above the floor), can cause serious injuries. A weight of 30 pounds (14 kg) definitely increases the risk. At this weight, a falling item can result in severe injuries such as traumatic brain injury or spinal injuries. Aviation expert lmao...
It actually isn't about the plane or the passengers and their safety. It's about making money. 360kg difference per flight can save millions worth of Kerosene over the lifespan of an aircraft. If it's a long haul flight, you can even save enough to cut your time on the ground down by several minutes (which matters in our industry) due to the shortened refuelling process. That obviously only matters if everything else works out fine and the flightplan is dense enough to have an immediate leg back after the turnaround. Now if you combine the millions saved in fuel with the millions gained in fees = profit.
Visiting Thailand, I purchase four large, locally-made hats for gifts. Then I realized I couldn't possibly fit them in my luggage without crushing them. And the four together would have needed another entire checked bag. So I stacked them, one upon the other, pressing them together just enough that they'd stick together so I could pass them off as a single, tall, multi-brimmed hat. My two-foot-tall hat did get a little attention at the counter, but I maintained that this was just my one (somewhat unusual) hat, and I did get on wearing it.
Love the code red...i pretty much have done the things you've suggested each time i travel the only other thing i can think of would be to minimise weight is to consider the size of items when you purchase them. Powerbanks as an example. Why buy 20k amh when 10 will do me just fine, half the size and weight. I also travel with two phones. They are multi use as opposed to travel with an additional tablet and/or laptop. Size and weight matters with carry on so we all have to get creative at times.
Airlines should give 1 checked bag for free and then charge for carry on luggage. This should help reduce the issue with limited overhead bin space. I routinely travelled for 5 day trips with a single 40L travel back pack and a small laptop case and that included the pillow from my bed at home. If you need more than that, do some laundry and pack less stuff.
Well one very stupid workaround would be asking to put some of your excess into someone else's bag, or, conversely, allowing someone to do that to you.
I traveled for four months with only a 40 Liter carry on backpack which did fit all my stuff and photography gear. It was always above the weight limit by probably 2x, but as I always checked in online, I could go through security without waiting at the check in desk. This saved so much time and money and nobody ever said anything about my 15 kg bag in the airplane.
I exactly did the same, it's so convenient. I don't even know when they could check your bag if you do the online check in. In case I always had a cargo pants to put all my stuff in if required when boarding the plane (don't know if that was even too much security ahah)
yeah but then again, having more space can make you pack more stuff that can put you above the weight limits. have to be careful with the weight of anything you pack
I don't fly much but I was stupid enough to go to the counter even after checking in with their free kiosk. They tagged my 3lbs over the combined weight so I got charged $100. I saw so many people with much larger two bags of carry-on's walk in without checking in at the service counter. I was so mad!
I just want to THANK YOU for that tip about putting clothes inside your travel neck pillow! Pure genius! I can only take 22 pounds for a combined weight for my backpack and rolling bag for a 2 week trip to Japan. Very tough to do, but that 1 tips saved me a precious half a pound! Loved the pocket vest idea too but I am not ballsy enough to try it. LOL
I once had a really heavy backpack and it helped to carry it on one shoulder. It looked super comfy so I was the only one not being asked. On another flight they checked the bag but didn‘t complain when they saw the cameras inside. They didn‘t want to take the risk of damaging or losing one of the cameras.
Great video. I travel carry on All the time and have utilized these strategies many times. Another good trick is making sure that i have a hoodie with large internal pockets. when i arrive at the check in counter i take my plastic bag with my 100 ML liquid bottles in it and place it in the pockets whilst wearing it. Cheers, great video.
I’ve flown around the world and done all of these… we think so alike it’s crazy. Cheers to you for speaking it and not just thinking it. Bravo! Great reminders too. ❤❤❤
I intend to use a Scott-e-vest mainly for the convenience of not having to continuously search through my personal item bag for things during the flight.
Okay, I’ve always scratched my head about the obsession around the kislux book totes and their practicality, but this one is adorable!! Congratulations
Alaska airlines will not let you carry anything extra. They tell you to consolidate all your Fanny packs, shopping bags.. everything! You are only allowed a carry on and one personal item. I did manage to keep my cross body bag on by wearing it under my jacket. They kept repeating the instructions over and over.. “consolidate all your items into your carry on and your one item.” I even had to put my water bottle into my backpack. This was June 2 of 2024. I’ve never had this problem with United or Delta.. they let a shopping bag or a neck pillow slip through.
Yea, on a recent trip to Colombia I wore my jeans and hiking boots and a couple of extra jackets, and placed my laptop in my personal item bag to save space and weight on my carry on sized backpack. It worked. Once I got to the gate I put one of the jackets and the laptop back in the backpack.
@@user-ov4wr5yu4r Nothing to do with being cheap. Some people don't want to wait or risk missing a connecting flight, or having the airline loose their luggage.
Sorry code red level 3 is just shady.. Call me a hater but it really is. I think one thing you as well as other people sharing these hacks is if you wear extra coats, take filled neck pillows and blankets with you they should stay with your person and not in the overhead compartment. One reason airlines are cracking down (not the only one) is people trying to hack the system and the shoving all that extra junk in the overhead bins leaving other passengers with no storage space.
The airlines need to have them move it and put it under the seat. This happened recently and I had to check my bag. When I got to my seat, I saw all the coats and laptop bags in the overhead bins but there was room by my seat. Not happy.
@@rcsavedbygrace If there are coats and jackets and I'm looking for space for my roll-aboard, .. I pull them out, dump them on the floor then put my bag up, ... then stuff the coats back in. I love that you mentioned about Scottevest! This is the real hack in here. I can never travel without my scottevest! Best investement for all you out there who loves to travel. :)
I'm travelling on Ryanair for the first time. The allowance for everyone with a ticket is a small carry on which fits under the seat. I've been trying to find out if this is in addition to a woman's handbag. We are going for a week and I have bought 3 soft cabin bags in which I've been able to pack a lot of clothes by rolling it into small rolls held using elastic bands. The bags weigh roughly 6Kg. I do have a body warmer with lots of pockets and a light jacket with lots of pockets. Some good tips here.
On a trip to Panama, I once packed some fragile goods in my checked bag and used some unwanted cheap sweaters I had bought from a Chinese online retailer for padding. These were terrible sweaters. Felt like terry cloths. Anyway, on my return home, all my clothes picked up moisture from the humid climate in Panama so it put my bag overweight. They wanted to charge overweight fee of course. Since it was just a few pounds, I went to a corner, opened the bag, threw away all those cheap sweaters, zipped up and bag went through. There's always a few tricks! There is also re-distribution of goods like you mentioned depending how many bags you have with you!
Thank you for your tips. Traveling as a photographer can be challenging as a backpack is usually specific for photography gear. Many camera bags can hold additional items which can help, however that only leaves one additional carry on. When traveling to Africa a few years back, brought one camera bag and one roller bag. These two bags worked well only because the camp at Masai Mara offered laundry service so could bring less clothing. My next trip to Africa will entail being on the move going from lodge to lodge so am figuring out a game plan to be able to wash items that can dry very quickly. Keep up the great videos.
That's so silly. I can't fathom how making people fit their pillow inside their backpack makes any sense since it will be outside the backpack on the flight
Wear a puffer jacket as you board. Bring a pillow case. On the plane, you'll have a pillow! A shawl or pashmina makes a great blanket, and you can wear that, too!
1 I have my carry-on luggage. 2 A personal item. 3 A pillow with a zipper and I put heavy things inside of it. 4 A bag with a red cross on it called medical which is exempt. 5 A duty-free bag which they don't inspect. 6 a fanny pack. And number 7 a multi-pocketed rest.
@@bwillan no it's the other way around. Because they're cracking down and milking us for everything they can that smart people are doing smart things to get past their extreme greed. Are you smart or passive?
I usually wear my purple puffy jacket and my backpack is also purple! When I have the bag on my back, my jacket hood lies just on the top and tbh it's hard to see where my coat ends and my bag begins! Bright, multi colour bags appear far bigger than they actually are... so you're right... don't draw attention!
My tip is to try to travel light. I once went on a travel on a budget ticket that only allowed one backpack and one small laptop bag. I stuffed everything I thought I’d have needed in the backpack, yet it turned out that after one week of traveling I didn’t even use half of my packed clothes! (There were washer and dryer where I stayed). I would have saved that space for other stuff I liked to purchase at the local. You may think you need this or need that in case something happened and you end up packing more than needed, but most of the time the “case” rarely happens.
Interesting video. I’ve travelled the globe for many years through my employment and also for personal trips. I learned way before they brought in the post 9/11 security measures that the best way to travel was with minimal luggage. I do like the idea of using lightweight bags though. It’s always cheaper to buy any additional clothes or shoes on your travels. Often you can purchase things duty free at airports. Other tips I’d pass on is to fly direct without any stopovers and take the first flights of the day in the morning.
5:45 "in the end, the same amount of weight is entering the airplane" => actually it matters a bit. As you may have noticed, the overhead bins often contain a big sticker stating the max weight of the stuff that can be put in it. Overloading these bins could aggravate an in-flight issue, as it moves up the center of gravity of the plane. Could also damage the compartment in case of a high-G event. Not a problem if just one passenger does it, but if everyone does it, that's another story. On a side note, at CDG, if you get picked for a luggage weight check, they will definitely put all your cabin bags on the scale at once.
@@jmorrison5206 Aerosucre approves this comment. More seriously though, it's true but you're approving a deviation. And that's how most Mayday episodes start.
@@julienb5815nah. It is not even notuceable. What MAY happend however... is if the airplane is far from full... Then they MAY often require people and weight to be re-distributed. This is mostly an issue on smaller airplanes... Because bigger airplanes will habe a big cargohold area which the airliner will re-distribute according to load of people on top. While a small airplane will not have much cargohold.. so then the distribution of weight INSIDE the plane IS an issue. So kn small airplanes they may re-distribute handliggage to make the load "even out". And also re-distribute people if too many are sitting on one side or unevenly distributed in the plane. Even if there are too many heavily obese people in one area, they may redistribute people to even the weight out. And YES that do matter. Smaller airplanes can easily get impacyed by airdisturbances like heavy wind etc. Edit: And that is also main reasons that max luggage weight per piece, regardless of total weight allowance is 32kg. Because they need the easy ability to re-distribute weight in the cargo if needed. So example Turkish airline, Qatar airline, Emirates airline, etc may have a max checkin luggage of 30-70kg for economy+,biz or 1st class. But the max weight per luggage item is 32kg.
my best tip is go to the duty free, buy the cheapest article you can get and ask for the biggest bag. then you can put all your stuff in the duty free bag
Congrats! I saw that one of your videos is featured in Western Rise’s travel e-magazine, The Diversion. Also, I agree, lounge access makes a huge difference.
i was 2 pounds overweight. the clerk told me it ws to sure be that the weight was adjusted in the cabin, I aske dif that was based on totql weight of passenger area. Did that include the passengers weight and the carry on luggage weight? she said total weight,. I asked her to look at the person behind me as aI am petite. I remarked that the tall person weighted about 100 poubnts more than me. She let me take my bag with no charge.
I have only travelled in Europe and mostly use Ryanair since it is the cheapest I can find. Only take a personal item. While I do not think it is ok to charge people more to take a carry-on, at the same time I think it makes it a fun game to try to get only the basics in a personal item. The problem I have seen over the years is that people overpack and ignore the size regulations. They clearly state how big the bags have to be. If you pack way too much or the bag is too big, well... I know everybody is different and every person has different needs but try to travel more minimalistic if possible. Do you need 10 t-shirts, 10x underwear, 10x socks and 10 trousers for a 10-day trip? Take half or even less and wash them in the sink of your ho(s)tel. If you are travelling with friends, gather all your dirty stuff and do a load of laundry. I've been to England twice in winter with only a 16 L Kånken backpack. I am glad I do not use make-up or need a ton of different skin-care products so a 1 L toiletry bag is enough. I could travel with that for a month too. Thanks for the tips!
Use, wear, a multi-pocket vest like a photographer/fishing/hiking outdoor vest. It is real funny, but works, to wear layers of your clothes. Or just don’t fly Spirit or Frontier in the U.S.
I use the "food bag" trick often. I recently had to pay for a duty free shopping bag, which had in fact my purchases in it. It was in Zurich Switzerland and I was flying with Swiss. They picked some people waiting for boarding at random and charged each 80 eur for "extra luggage".
wear a mesh fishing vest , they have around 15 -20 pockets that you can stuff full and only cost around 30$ instead of the 400$ with the SCOTTeVEST jacket
A lightweight utility vest can be bought for under $30 on Amazon. Years ago when flying in Air Asia, all heavy things went in the pockets(there are many). Books, power banks, tablets and stuff like that work great in the pockets.
Kudos to you for mentioning ScottEvest! I even have the trench coat which is actually a great travel coat even without the benefit of the many pockets. It’s extra weight on you when packed but still feels balanced and not crazy heavy on my neck. I actually like it’s on me than some heavy bag I have to throw over my shoulders. The only time you even get a second glance is when it goes across the belt at TSA check! 😂 I don’t even fly that much and feel it’s been a great investment. Highly recommend. Now, the company ought to pay me for this endorsement LOL
Hahaha yeah I was super impressed with their stuff, I have their light jacket and the microfleece hoodie. The warmer coats look cool, but I'm rarely even in cold places to be able to use them.
Had a weight limit of 5lbs good job we were going to a hot country so could wash out clothes ...also put some bits in a shop bag fro the airport lounge which were ignored.....also wore my heavy stuff.. used a backback
Glad to have you as a new sub! :-) Was it this one you're referring to? amzn.to/4aAQivD I've used that one for years and love it, but recently the zippers seized up - I think it may have gotten exposed to salt water or to much sea air without washing. Still an awesome bag though :-)
There IS an important safety reason for weight limits for overhead carryons. In case of turbulence, a bin full of 7kg bags has a chance of staying closed. A 14 kg bag thrown around could pop the bin open and deposit it on your head! Is that what you'd like?
We would like them to use proper better latches that won't pop open and can handle the weight capacity limit of the overhead compartment. I'm sure they can do rigorous testing
I know someone who is working at an airport and some airlines and some are doing this already are thinking to start to weight the carry on at the gate and also check the size at te gate, if it is to big or to heavy you have to pay at the gate. He has heard of an airline in North Afrika thzt is weighting the hold baggage at arrival and if the baggage weight more than 20kgs the passenger has to pay before they receive their baggage.
Yes, experienced at least on 3 trips in last years... whom at the GATE... while boarding the plane... got most to put their carry-on or backpacks into a meassuring-machine which is designed to fit the exact measurrements +meassures the weight. The airliners know that when you've come all the way to the gate... you are sc...d. Then you either end up paying... because you have noone to "leave behind" some items to. And many are not prepared for such extra check at the gates. And yes 2 of those checks did happened with a north african travell. Edit: But it was at departuring gates. Not arrival. And it was about carry-on. Not checkin baggage. What you desctibe sounds more like a scam. They should flag BEFORE accepting your luggage if its over 20kg weightlimit.
@@paulruano1903 I think it is not a scam, maybe that airline encounter some problems with baggage at check in; that check in agents not put the real weight in the system and that airline so loose money because there was no charge for overweight luggage.
@@daylightdaylight6612 it IS a scam!. Because it has 0 relevance AFTER the airplane has landed!. Only reason to measure AFTER landing is to take EXTRA fee for something that was not declared before. If got hit with the bill BEFORE, then he could have removed items or redistributed weight etc. But if come with the bill AFTER landed, then the passenger has no option to turn down the "service". So it IS a scam.
A Boeing 777 from Dubai to London takes off with 150 tons of fuel and carries 330 passengers. if every passenger takes in 3 kg excess it should be still under a ton.
I'm traveling to Mexico via American airlines and I have a weeks worth of clothes, supplies and accessories,I'm planning on my bag being a carry on but I fear it's gonna be to heavy and they will make me check it at the gate.
1:47 Spirit, Frontier, Copa, etc etc will stop you at the boarding gate to pay for carry-ons bags. 2:49 Which airline weighs your carry-on?? This has never happened to me.
Hacks I have not tried! Well, if they do not define what a belt is, what I would do is make a belt out of long shirts and put shoes inside and where the whole thing as a belt. I would have the shoes sit the long way just under my stomach. Also, instead of packing clothes in that suitcase, I'd wear them all, put my lightest shoes inside, and only go with 2 pairs of shoes. Plus, learn the army way of folding clothes. They are ace for use inside of that travel pillow that is really a bag for your clothes that can go around your neck. However, a better hack would be to get the quilting club to make you a better neck pillow that is larger and goes around your neck but still looks like a neck pillow. It would be deeper in the back and sides.
Can you do a video explaining the process of going through security with a implant or pacemaker? I recently got a pacemaker and am flying for the first time since in April. Kind of nervous. Thanks for all the helpful tips and videos!
Hello! My son had a pacemaker implanted in 2010. He was given a card to give to TSA explaining that he had a pacemaker and could not go through the scanner and required a hand pat down. Your doctor should be able to give you that card or a letter. Hope this helps!
You can request a pat down, and not to be ran through the scanner. (people do this all the time). Id be cautious though as it may require you to go to a different line or wait for an avl agent so give yourself more time. If you are really worried contact your doctor and ask them to provide you with a letter saying you have a pacemaker. I have one for my meds and CPAP machine just n case.
As recently as 2023 American Airlines has been giving passenger grief about fanny packs and neck pillows, counting them as "personal items". They even tried pulling that sh#t with my nylon double cell phone holster (separate phones for work and personal use). Operative word 'tried' a more senior airline employee talked the gate person down.
Sneaky is right. Qatar airways decided all backpacks are considered a carry on too. No matter how small it is. It’s stupid and it doesn’t even say it on their website

It’s true in Southwest Airlines now. Heard multiple gate announcements telling passengers they all had to fit in one carryon and one personal item. Included blankets too.

I have over 300 flights i know what i speak about.
Your eyes are so beautiful, piercing blue, that I have difficulty concentrating on what you are saying 😅. God is an amazing creator. Thank you for your advice.
Hi there - usually flights only let us allow a total of 7kg for carry-on and a small personal bag. But the luggages are already 2-3kg leaving us for only 4 or 5kg items which is like nothing. Please do help recommend good luggage bags and tips for economy people like us :)
Thinking "luggage weight" has more to do with the folks and equipment needed to get it from check-in, to under the plane and back out again, than the actual weight. So it is not about weight in the plane, it is about weight and issues of the poor folks having to lift and move them behind the scenes.
How can people not have checked in luggage though if going from UK-USA or UK-Asia? Limits are often are like 5-8kg for carry on luggage. Some of these videos are far wide of the mark. Great video for quick flights though!

And you’ll save a good amount of space in your bag.
you should change your name to ebeneezer.
@ - For wearing jeans and a sweat shirt or jacket to stay warm? 👌 yeah
Around -50° celsius :P outside temperature
I’m an aircraft/aviation expert with over 30 years experience, you are correct, unless there is an extreme amount of extra weight by nearly everyone on the plane it doesn’t really make any difference.
Thanks for confirming! 🫡
@@advocatusdbl It has nothing to do with safety, you naive child. It's all about making higher profit. That's it.
Bahahaha that is amazing. I hope you have a photo!
Very smart. Sometimes it pays to think like a minimalist ;)
"stupid rules, call for stupid workarounds"
Which bag did you use?
I exactly did the same, it's so convenient. I don't even know when they could check your bag if you do the online check in. In case I always had a cargo pants to put all my stuff in if required when boarding the plane (don't know if that was even too much security ahah)
Just take 3 or 4 outfits. Most place have washers and dryers, this eliminates a lot of this. Also roll all your clothes' to save space.
yeah but then again, having more space can make you pack more stuff that can put you above the weight limits. have to be careful with the weight of anything you pack
@@zilam98 My backpack is not going above the weight limit no matter if. I stuff it to the gills
I don't fly much but I was stupid enough to go to the counter even after checking in with their free kiosk. They tagged my 3lbs over the combined weight so I got charged $100. I saw so many people with much larger two bags of carry-on's walk in without checking in at the service counter. I was so mad!
Grrrr that really sucks :(
I just want to THANK YOU for that tip about putting clothes inside your travel neck pillow! Pure genius! I can only take 22 pounds for a combined weight for my backpack and rolling bag for a 2 week trip to Japan. Very tough to do, but that 1 tips saved me a precious half a pound! Loved the pocket vest idea too but I am not ballsy enough to try it. LOL
Did you book through Japan airlines or ANA? in my experience they dont really weigh carry on bags. did they end up weighing your bags?
I havent gone on my trio yet but will let u know if ANA weighs my bags. I hope u are right! @@MMontanez347
@@MMontanez347 I haven't gone on my trip yet, but will let you know. Part of the flight IS on ANA.
I once had a really heavy backpack and it helped to carry it on one shoulder. It looked super comfy so I was the only one not being asked. On another flight they checked the bag but didn‘t complain when they saw the cameras inside. They didn‘t want to take the risk of damaging or losing one of the cameras.
Haha yeah sometimes you gotta pretend you're super strong for a sec to not hunch over so the bag looks light 🤣
Great idea! I do something similar with my rain jacket - makes things much easier!
It definitely is convenient!
Okay, I’ve always scratched my head about the obsession around the kislux book totes and their practicality, but this one is adorable!! Congratulations
Wow - great advice and his eyes are beautiful!
Wow that's crazy! Sounds like a good airline to test this bad boy out 😂 bit.ly/3yRdrwm (affiliate link)
If you pay lower for a ticket, that airline is likely stricter on the baggage.
That’s how Frontier is also.
Like three jackets totally. How many do you need? Don't get heat stroke. You would in my country. Hope those are just for domestic flights. 😂
Wait, Colombia? You're too cheap for include luggage on international? 🙄
you sicken me.
That''s the way!
Not happy.
@@rcsavedbygrace 100%.. I don't mind people use these hacks to get more on the plane, but stop taking space from other passengers.

Pockets are a good backup plan if you happen to be overweight 😎
HEY kislux !! I have been watching you for years and im so proud of where you have made it! I love you so much! Also thanks for making my day
Thank you for your tips.
This video was worth it, alone, just for the Vest, neck pillow and food bag tricks. Great tips.
Southwest recently announced that pilliows and blankets have to fit in your carry on or personal item bag.
Yes, the gate announcers were really adamant about this recently! Kept pushing this new rule.
Canadian airlines force passengers to go to the check-in counter to get boarding passes at non-Canadian airports.
Yes i have put heavy items in a duty free bag which seems to be ok !!
And you are wondering why airlines are cracking down on carry on bag sizes and limits. Good grief.

Low-key is the way to be! 😎
Exactly. It every occurs to people to do laundry, or buy things at your destination.
I don't think CG matters as much to passenger jets. If it did, passengers would be weighed. The real issue is overloading the overhead bin.
You just aren’t going to put a commercial jet out of the acceptable CG envelope with your carry on.

Edit:
And that is also main reasons that max luggage weight per piece, regardless of total weight allowance is 32kg.
Because they need the easy ability to re-distribute weight in the cargo if needed.
So example Turkish airline, Qatar airline, Emirates airline, etc may have a max checkin luggage of 30-70kg for economy+,biz or 1st class.
But the max weight per luggage item is 32kg.
I was on a plane once that wasn’t full. They had people move seats to better distribute the weight in the plane.
my best tip is go to the duty free, buy the cheapest article you can get and ask for the biggest bag. then you can put all your stuff in the duty free bag
huh but isnt the duty free shops after the checkins anyway
Congrats! I saw that one of your videos is featured in Western Rise’s travel e-magazine, The Diversion. Also, I agree, lounge access makes a huge difference.
Wow! I didn't even realize that - thanks for letting me know! :)
i was 2 pounds overweight. the clerk told me it ws to sure be that the weight was adjusted in the cabin, I aske dif that was based on totql weight of passenger area.
Amen to that!
Use, wear, a multi-pocket vest like a photographer/fishing/hiking outdoor vest.
It is real funny, but works, to wear layers of your clothes.
Or just don’t fly Spirit or Frontier in the U.S.
Hahaha that's a great tip and I actually have that one coming in next week's video!
If in Europe fill the bottom of duty free bag as they are allowed on for free then stick any food you gave on top.
How is going through security? Just take it off ?
@ yeah I’d just take it off and put it in the bin
I say also be mindful of your fellow passengers and make sure they have bin space as well.

There IS an important safety reason for weight limits for overhead carryons.
In case of turbulence, a bin full of 7kg bags has a chance of staying closed. A 14 kg bag thrown around could pop the bin open and deposit it on your head!

Edit:
But it was at departuring gates.

The food in the airport lounge that is connected to a credit card is not free!
Please tell me about suitcases that have child seats, I'm completely lost and I haven't found anyone talking about this type of suitcase.

My ex would just tell them and they would pat him down , no big issue to worry about
You can request a pat down, and not to be ran through the scanner. (people do this all the time). Id be cautious though as it may require you to go to a different line or wait for an avl agent so give yourself more time. If you are really worried contact your doctor and ask them to provide you with a letter saying you have a pacemaker. I have one for my meds and CPAP machine just n case.
Just let the TSA folks know when you get to the front of the line. I find if you are polite, concise and cooperative, they’re happy to help you.
Idk, but think legit nice travel channels, rather than how to cheat, might be better.

As recently as 2023 American Airlines has been giving passenger grief about fanny packs and neck pillows, counting them as "personal items". They even tried pulling that sh#t with my nylon double cell phone holster (separate phones for work and personal use). Hey, Panda!
Get any food or drink after security.
You CAN bring an empty water bottle with you. Fill it after security. I’m often guzzling water in line. lol.
He is using the food bag to disguise his luggage. If your carry on is overweight, you can place some heavier items into the bag and hope they don’t ask you what’s inside the bag.
That idea is mostly to just get you past the check-in counter in a code red situation, but I wouldn't make a habit of it unless you're about to get smacked witha big fee.
My intended checked is 70 linear inches. Its a light weight duffle bag, but i don't intend on bringing anything more than 30lbs. What can i do, as I want to bring back stuff from a convention.
Choose your airline carefully
I've heard that some airlines are changing rules and considering a neck pillow or fanny pack as your personal item now.
I have yet to experience this, but if anyone else has, leave a comment! I try to make my fanny pack inconspicuous though, just to be safe.
@@ProjectUntethered I’ve heard some people put their fanny pack in their back pack long enough to get through the checks and keeping your IDs and things like that in the fanny pack. Although I’d like to find a way to lock the Fanny pack around me with an actual lock so it can’t be stolen or ran away with. Thanks for all your info and help!
Put your fanny pack under your jacket and zip up.
It’s true in Southwest Airlines now. Heard multiple gate announcements telling passengers they all had to fit in one carryon and one personal item. Included blankets too.
*yutulu* bag is pure love
BUT trust me as you get older THAT WEIGHT IS SOOOO BAD FOR YOUR BACK. I always upgrade to checked bag even IF I DONT CHECK bag. They will leave you alone and you're not killing your bag. Protect your back. You may be saving cash but your body is paying the PRICE. Just my 2 cent.
Checked bag $50, Chiropractor $25. Not loosing your bag because you didn't check it; Priceless.
Last month, I checked in online, they still weighed my bag at the gate 😂. Also the hand scale from Amazon seems hard to use. If it tilts even a little, the weight changes.
Life got so much better when I cut down from 49 lbs to 47 pounds. It got better still when i cut down to 40-43. tired of hauling crap around.
Good tips but ...man this is why there are soooo many bags and full compartiments..it sucks when i get to my seat and no space for my bag...so most of the time i have to carry a laptop only and just place it at my feet...i actually see often people avoiding bag drop off but they carry 1 rolling luggage, on top of it a backpack then they also carry a backpack and a bag on their shoulder... not cool it's so bad i consider flying when i can afford business class. I have over 300 flights i know what i speak about.
Great advice, thanks!
backpack that considered as personal item needs to fit the under chair slot. Definitely not 40l backpack.
Your eyes are so beautiful, piercing blue, that I have difficulty concentrating on what you are saying 😅. God is an amazing creator. Thank you for your advice.
Thank you for the kind words. And yes he is! 😇
Very useful 👍🏼
You could use several different size multi pocket vests.
I’m going UK-USA with only carry on. Never done it before but with the new fees I plan on travelling light and avoiding the wait at the baggage reclaim.
Why bring so much stuff when you are travelling ?
The body feels a lot happier only carrying 7kg when travelling.
I loved this video ✈️
