When I went on a tour at Warner brothers studio they had an area where you could get a picture taken using this effect. The set was Harry Potter and the pictures came out awesome.

And yet they allowed that awful forced perspective shot at the very end as they flee the volcano! 😢

I own both. The BMCC 6K FF is on another level in terms of image quality & UI. Its dynamic range, highlight rolloff and colour science are leagues above the FX3 (I only realised how stark the difference is once I got the BMCC 6K and got to compare my own test footage). That’s not to say the FX3 has bad IQ, the BMCC6K is just outstanding. Gyro Stabilisation on the BM is good (enough) too. Autofocus, IBIS, size and build quality the FX3 takes the W easily. Low light performance also goes to the FX3 obviously, but the BMCC6K is no slouch either (in reasonable scenarios). I have the DJI Focus system with Lidar on my BMCC6K, so autofocus is actually there with that workaround, and it’s good actually. Lastly, BRAW offers the superior workflow in Resolve over anything the FX3 can encode - including ProRes via a Ninja V. Love them both but after I got the BMCC6K for work, I went out and got two BMPCC4Ks for my wife and I just to mess about with them, the image quality is that good.

This is why those movies were good to watch. Too many movies rely too much on CGI - even over practical effects that easily could've been used. It really takes me out of the movie. It's worse on 4K TVs where you can really see how fake the effects are. I suspect many movies will age poorly as a result. Believable practical effects are always believable.

You really have to give these actors props for making it realistic. They genuinely appear to be looking into each other's eyes. I assumed it was CGI all along.

A fun movie that used Forced perspective was the North Pole scenes in Elf.

Nasa uses that blue screen effect for the ISS shots often you see things disappear or mics go through hands.
