There’s alot of crap on TH-cam. Most of the videos I watch makes me feel worse than I felt prior to watching them. Your content is different. The mix of superb comedy, insightful thoughts and your loving personality makes your channel my absolute favourite. I really enjoy your type of content, how you focus on the details of everyday life. Take care of yourself and you family, happy holidays from sweden.
OMG that scavenger hunt could make anyone fall in love with Craig. Unrelated: why does my chest hurt, and why is my face wet? Update: WebMD says I am probably dying.
Filming the treasure hunt was the perfect way to show that time and experience giving and the small details in life are far more efficient than traditional gifts.
Only trouble with that "treasure hunt leading to a gift" idea is that it gets really hard to live up to year after year. I did a similar thing with my wife when she first came to the U.S. twenty years ago. Pro tip: If you want to make this a yearly tradition, start simple and small. Don't make it amazing the first year or you'll be going crazy in just a couple years.
juststeveschannel my father makes my siblings and I go on scavenger hunts for our Christmas gifts every year, it’s been going on like 25 years. We love it and hate it, it’s great
When I was little, my babysitter made clues like that for us. When we couldn't read, she drew pictures. Once we could read, she made simple clues. It was awesome and a great memory.
@@wheezywaiter No, NO... I'm Sorry you had to wait for 63 previous comments for my approval! Gotta run! Time for a Moosehead! (look it up...it really is a thing!)
#1: I LOVE TREASURE HUNTS!! (That's what my family called following clues like that.) They are one of the best things any human could do for me ever. I really enjoyed where this video went, I was expecting a straightforward list and instead I got enjoyable Craig / Chyna interaction and cuteness. #2: Your dad has great taste in books! #3: Where do you get your stock footage??? I LOVE IT.
This is sooooo great n sweet, thanks for letting me live a healthy relationship vicariously through TH-cam Vids, while IRL remaining successfully single! Best of both worlds! 😜 Merry Chrissy C & C & Ada, Mum & Dad 😁
Not free, but some cheap crafts I like to do for Christmas are baking biscuits (if you want to go fancy, I recommend fruit and nut biscotti, less fancy and pretty cheap is honeycomb, and candy canes are fairly straightforward). If you have bookish friends, make some book bunting! Last, if you fancy learning a new skill - arm knitting. Very easy if you already know how to knit, and even if not you can whip up a scarf in about two or three hours.
Scavenger hunts are the best! That's what I did for my parents' gifts in the last few years I lived with my parents. They did one for me, too. Made Christmas morning as fun as it was when I believed in Santa! But at the end, there was a gift, so..... I think it works even when it's a heartfelt message or unbought gift at the end, too.
Is it possible to get a directors commentary for the parents scene? I just have to know how you decided on having your dad read the book he was reading. That just made my day! Thanks!
I think making good can still be considered free even if you have to go out and buy the ingredients first. Its something you gotta do anyways, so might as well show your appreciation for someone special while you're at it. Its like the hand made sweater. You paid for the necessary tools and resources, but the labor you put in is what makes it a good gift, so it's still free.
My favorite part is Chyna carrying around the baby monitor hahaha. Also you guys are so cute and it's encouraging to see others trying to be less materialistic (my boyfriend and I will give each other gifts throughout the year but not a huge amount because we also don't want a bunch of unneeded stuff cluttering our lives.)
Extreme self awareness and lots of cheek. Another good video, haha. 👍 The hubs and I always have extremely different views on Xmas gifting. Still trying to meet in the middle a bit more.
I mentioned this in the Reddit thread, but people give me things that are important to them, but not practical to keep around, and I transform them into a keepsake. For instance, my mother gives me old, falling apart jewelry, and I salvage what I can and make an entirely new piece of jewelry. I also transformed my brother's unwieldy T-shirt collection into a quilt and pillow shams that he loves. My older sister gave me one of her kitten's baby teeth, her favorite toy from kittenhood, and her pawprint. I rolled the pawprint up like a scroll and tied it with one of the sparkly dangly bits of the toy. Then I put those, a feather from the toy, and the tooth into a tiny pendant bottle with a cork, hung it on a chain, and she had a necklace. I like to be able to take these memories and make them into something that can actually be functional or decorative that could be passed down as heirlooms with real history to them.
Niiiiice. I made an encoded clue notebook for my wife for a treasure hunt once. Had math, language, all sorts of complex code. She figured it out within twenty minutes and found a new pokemon game hidden inside a lamp. Best of both worlds. XD
Ok, that was adorable! My family has transitioned to mostly present-free Christmas’ and it has been great! We try to do things like donations to a charity that each of us supports or experiences etc and it is far less stressful I think. Merry Christmas! (Also your parents were hilarious as always!)
I loved this one. I agree with Chynna. The experience gifts are the best. This year we flew our kids and their spouses down to Panama to spend Christmas with us. We live in Panama and they've never traveled to Central America. So it is quite an experience for all 4 of them. :)
i used to do those scavengers hunt with my friend all the time. not as a gift or anything. just sometimes when we are bored. they are one of the only things that are more fun for the one who creates them than the one who plays them.
This video was so, so good. A good 11 minutes of solid laugh/smiling is such a wonderful thing. Sappy comment that will probably be lost in the cloud of other comments: Thanks for so many years of joy and good times, Craig. I’ve watched you longer than any other TH-camr and am so grateful you’re still around and making such great content.

Mister, you've made my day. I was on the verge of having an anxiety attack, then saw this video and got all mushy inside and calmed down. Thank you. I guess. Cheers!
I agree about not buying gift on social design days. It's so much better to get a gift as a surprise. Instead of when you are dictated to do so by the place where you live. Even if it's once a year or less; has more meaning
I don't understand gift cards. It's like giving the person money but forcing the person to use that money in a specific place. Just give the person a nice note with money, both in the same envelope. My grampa used to give me gifts like that. I loved it. Wish more people did it like that
i just love your content so damn much. for YEARSSSSSS now. this is one of my all time favorites. you’re just the very best. thank you for giving us so much joy and laughter and value.
if i give someone a gift it's 1 of 3 things: 1) i'm flirting 2) i'm being romantic 3) i've sound something that i think will enrich someone close to me. mostly that falls into the commoditization of a piece of art (usually boils down to CD's, DVD's, Records, Books, or drinks at one of the music halls i work at. sometimes it also includes Paintings, Sculptures, and Prints) mostly i just think an artist's work is so good, that i want to share it with my friends and family.
I gift plants to my friends. ( flower or kitchen herb) They are not free but something which is not very costly either and going to remind them of me. Or try to give something useful to them.
Another fun gift idea: you can go to the library and take out books that you think the other person would enjoy! Wrap 'em up and everything, and include a note with the due date! This way if they don't like the book then no money has been wasted, but you still put thought and effort into picking something for them! (Doing this for my mom this year - she loves the idea!)
