This beautiful song and movie will never be forgotten. No matter how many remakes. No matter if they try to change the way the characters look or modernizing it.This story and movie as just as wonderfully as it was years ago. Other performers and singers have sung Over The Rainbow. No one can sing it like Judy Garland. Especially in this movie.
She was never in the running. Mervyn LeRoy always intended the movie as a showcase for Judy. Now, Shirley did make it to Oz in 1960 when she played Princess Ozma in her own production of _The Land of Oz_ on T.V.
I told my daughter when she first saw this movie that the reason why the parts set in Kansas were in black and white was because Kansas didn't get color until after World War 2.
Sunday it's happy 85th Anniversary of the wizard of Oz.
Which means that in 10 years (technically 11) this film will finally enter the public domain.
As a Judy garland fan, when I first saw this post, I had to hear her sing❤
25 years old, and I will always remember watching this with my grandmother. Rest in peace, Mimi. I will definitely be buying this!

The characters look different here from the way they do in the books, especially Dorothy.
Judy Garland makes a great voice for Dorothy.
Voice, face, and everything else!
Dorothy: Beautiful 😻

Love this movie, but we missed out Shirley Temple for the role of her lifetime.
