About The Wizard of Oz:
In this classic musical fantasy, Judy Garland stars as Dorothy Gale, a young Kansas farm girl who dreams of a land "somewhere over the rainbow." Dorothy's dream comes true when she, her dog, Toto, and her family's house are transported by a tornado to a bright and magical world unlike anything she has seen before.
Unfortunately, she makes a mortal enemy of a wicked witch when the house falls on the hag's sister. Now, befriended by a scarecrow without a brain, a tin man with no heart and a cowardly lion-and protected by a pair of enchanted ruby slippers-Dorothy sets off along a yellow brick road for the Emerald City to beseech the all-powerful Wizard of Oz for his help to return home.
Winner of Academy Awards for the classic song, "Over The Rainbow" and for "Best Score," the family classic also received an Oscar nomination for "Best Picture." A special Oscar for "the best juvenile performer of the year" was awarded to Judy Garland.

The technology they developed for the Munchkin voices is truly amazing and also considering all the music was recorded in multi-track sound it’s nothing short of a miracle we can get to listen to this 85-year-old film in real 5.1
My most favorite movie ever (I'll be 66 next week)...and the music each time Glinda arrives brings my tears! Thank you for this treasure !!

A classic book that will never grow old, though it's now been around for 124 years. 🙂 Dorothy is a Princess of Oz, and has lived there with her uncle and aunt for almost that long.

Billie Burke was married in real life to Florenz Ziegfeld. In the early 20th century he was a world famous businessman and investor. He was known as a famous early vaudeville and showbiz impresario. He was the founder of the famous Ziegfeld Follies.
First comment I adore this movie so much! One of my faves!
When i first saw the munchkins I was always impressed in how well the civic guard/militia marched in rhythm and I could tell that a professional drill instructor had put them through the paces. I always imagined that if the evil witches took over their realm those little munchkin soldiers would have turned out into great guerilla fighters....but that's the wistful thinking of a 12 year old kid watching the movie on TV.....
An evil Witch DID take over their realm, remember?
I'm not a witch at all I'm Dorothy gale from Kansas. August 25 my birthday, my favorite movie, meant to be.
In the original book the movie the wizard of oz is based on there are actually 2 good witches there's addaperle the good witch of the North who rules over the northern region of oz and glinda the good witch of the South who ruled over the southern region of oz for the movie they decided to make both good witches into 1 character and in the books ending glinda didn't show up in Emerald city to tell Dorothy about how she could use the magic slippers to get home Dorothy and her friends had to travel all the way to glindas side of oz to ask for her help
Glinda: “Only bad witches are ugly.”
Also Glinda: “Are you a good witch or a bad witch?”
Try actually watching the scene; Glinda asks what Dorothy is on behalf of the *Munchkins,* who have no idea what she is. Glinda already knows.
Well it’s Judy garland si she most certainly is not a bad witch 😌

@darthkurland Disney didn't do much, if anything, with Mickey far as to extend the copyright this time, so why would Warner be anything different? Yes, this is live action, but arguably, Mickey is more well known than this film.
@@stephenholloway6893 The book that this film is based on is older than Mickey Mouse by twenty-eight years.
@MaskedMan66 Yes but the book was already in the public domain long ago. Besides I'm only comparing the two far as film appearances goes not the original source I'm the case of the original book plus this wasn't even the original adaptation of the book. Just the best known version if anything.
@@stephenholloway6893 Right, there were movies in 1910 and 1925. The only point I was making is that Oz is older than Disney. 🙂
