Overwatch 2: What can we expect from SPACE RANGER's abilities?

- Back at Blizzcon, Blizzard didn’t only show off Mauga and Venture, who both were released since then, but also a future support hero that will be joining the roster in the next season, season 12.
The hero is codenamed Space Ranger and hails from the Mars colony.
We will most likely get our first closer look at the new hero during a test event in a few weeks.
But what will her abilities be? Well, we can figure out some things through recent comments by the developer, accidentally released voice lines, and some of the things we tested in all of the latest experimental modes.

@@fractalelf7760 tbh space ranger is the first new hero in a long time I actually have any interest in playing so either way we get the hero eventually, although in the tf overwatch collab comic, the bots are already on earth so it may be space ranger

We should be on the lookout for that purple message we get saying ‘some of your customisation is unavailable in this instance’ after the mid season patch on July 23rd, as it will confirm she’s on the way for a trial weekend and is in the games files

Before a hero comes in for a trial weekend the game gets patched and at the start of every lobby a message appears saying what I said in my original post.
We knew Venture had a trial on the way in Season 9 because the same purple message appeared before Mauga had his trial in November last year.
Same will happen with Space Ranger. We will see the message, she’ll get an official reveal and boom we will get to play her for a few days.

For everyone that's confused: Days before the Mauga and Venture preview playtests were released, every time you joined a game it would say "Some of your customization is unavailable in this instance" since you couldn't configure settings for the heroes that were in the game files but weren't accessible yet. It's been a telltale sign for both playtests, but they may have patched that message with this playtest, idk
Maybe her speed utility could be an attack speed buff rather than a movement speed one. It makes sense as Alec Dawson said it's going to be something that only one character currently provides, which is Kiriko, while movement speed buffs don't come from just one character (we have Lucio, JQ, and also Kiri)
just think of the posibilities with an attack speed buff plus movement speed buff 😂😂 total domination on the battlefield
@@spyroscorner2106I think given the dva voiceline bug it'll be a speed boost but only inside a ring so that enemies can try and hide from the buffed attackers
This is what I've been saying, we've had multiple speed buffs in the forms of abilities and ultimates, but only one attack speed buff, and it's an ultimate.
can't include JQ in this because he did specifically mention "in the support cast". Regarding kiri ult giving speed boost, i think he genuinely just wasnt thinking about ults or that kiri ult gives speed because its a hint that he had to make up on the spot and wasnt preprepared so he probably just didnt think of kitsune especially since its an ult.
I wonder if she has a blast radius heal ability like baptiste has - it would make sense with her in the air and if she still has that smart smg it could be for heals not for damage. A lot easier to heal your team from the air if you get a little auto tracking and splash radius

I wouldn't really mind if the turrets on her back operated on their own and healed nearby targets. Kind of like Lucio's healing. But that might make them a little too similar :p Would love to see one of her abilities of maybe even ultimate play with the gravity. Imagine turning on low gravity for everyone lol, or just a small circle. Kind of like the opposite of Ramattra's vertex. Could use it to launch yourself or teammates upwards GREAT VIDEO!!!
it could be interesting if to enemies, the side of the ring opposite from where you place it is invisible, so you can only see it from one side, and going through it for them slows them down. so you could use the ability in many ways, to speed up your team or to put it front of a doorway to slow down enemies and you would have to choose how to use it carefully
Voice line: "To infinity and beyond".
And that's why I hate that codename. Really hope they change it.
I'd like to see Space Ranger sort of fly in a circle while facing her team for line-of-sight much as D.Va can do in the current content creator collab.
She prolly has zero gravity as passive

I think the speed ring is going to be like octanes jump bubble thing from apex or even those antigravity lifts from halo, But with more horizontal movement.
What if it’s like orisas ult from Overwatch 1? That would be kinda cool
When I saw you mentioned she had two little turret/arm things, I personally thought one would be for damage, and one would be for heals. I also thought that after you mentioned she would just have to look at enemies/teammates, that she could choose one of the arms to manually aim, and have the other auto aim, so she could multitask; I don’t know if that’s how she’ll end up working but I kinda hope it is, all I know is I’m excited for her release!
I’ve always thought it looked like there are rockets in the extra arm things so I think those are dps and her gun will be support
I think the arms on her suit will be similar to zen's healing orb but you can heal 2 allies at once, press a key on one person and a robot or beam is constantly healing them, like mercy's beam range, and press another key to heal another person at the same time as the other?
maybe the thing’s on her back work like illiaris pylon, is constanty heals her team. And i think that her flying ability is like pharah and then she can flying any direction like the community crafted dva abillity.
One thing I don't want to reoccur is a clunky gun swap, specifically Life Weaver's weapon swapping, just doesn't feel smooth😅
I’m curious if the space ring is vertical or on the floor. Hopefully she doesn’t brake max speeding. I am curious of what her turrets do tho, what are your thoughts?
I kinda thought her ult could be a sort of anti gravity field to give her entire team airborne mobility. Perhaps it could also make projectiles in range have low gravity so they can be fired further.
I think her ult could also be something like astra from valorant where she goes into an astral plane and do something with that.
I was thinking of a moira ult similar to rocket barage but more like illaris ult that she can fire at will similar to ventures where you just click to release once activated
Maybe the speed ring is like a brig pack she throws it at someone and it last for X amount of seconds
I’d love her turret things to have infinite healing similar to mercy where it attaches to a teammate, and then it can also attack using a separate beam to attach onto enemy’s similar to how symmetra used to be
If your going to compare her shoulder mounts to Bap, then you could imagine that one arm would spawn a speed gate and the other a healing one, that you had to run through them to get the buff.
Hope she is like a combo of Pharah and Horizon from Apex, having flight and gravity-style utility.
Ooh! It’d be cool if she can like fly up temporarily, and in the style of Pharahs últ, she can do that beam thing!
I hope the healing is either like Brig or Moira. like it has a timed charge. and shoots out something. or it can spray healing like Moira
Imagine speed ring, Lucio's boost and Junker's shout all at spawn
I hope her gameplay will ACTUALLY be that of a support playstyle. As it feels like most support heroes added these past few years have just been Damnage heroes with like one healing ability. Not to name names but-
(Brigite & Kiriko even technically Moira at release)

The ult you described is like of like doomfist or bastion
I had the crazy idea that space rangers ability would be a helicarrier that could pick up other players. And I giggled at the thought of a healer carrying a Rienhardt or Roadhog into the back line of the enemy team.
But judgeing from the evidence its definitely not that. XD
I actually think that she should have an ability much like Horizon from Apex, where she places something that makes the player float up. Since she's from Marc, a low gravity or no gravity effect of util could've been grate
Im just exited its a new support hero, and its even better that its movement focused cause thats one of my favorite things about overwatch AND its a spaced themed hero which has so many ppportunites for cool stuff like the space laser :D
Ultimate : Redeploy the team to the objective by falling from the sky with pods (which do impact damage)
I feel like they're gonna be another AOE healer like lucio but for the air. i think they already pointed this out but perhaps like lucio it changes from healing to some other new effect. maybe damage boost
Thatd be cool if you can boop enemies through the speed ring to make them go further/faster. Also i really hope her ult is a glassing beam from halo 😆
I'm still expectant for her to have very low healing capacity but that can grant shields to her allies in some way... Don't judge me, I still miss photom shields and shield generator.

Would be cool to have unli flying like Ironman and Storm in Marvel Rivals
It would be interesting if she only had the option to fly as long as she was actively healing a teammate. This would reward a player for utilizing the character correctly. Highly mobile with lots of verticality, healing and supporting from above.

I don’t have much to say about this other than this - as a support main, I hope that they are a fun support! Also, I’m just trying to help your algo rhythmic gods. Always rooting for you friend.

I have a theory, one of her mechanical arms will be for speed, and the other for heals. Each will make rings of aoe heals or speed.
I love the aerial strike idea for an ult, but i fear it might be too close to bastion ult for them to do. I still hope its something similar

some abilities i hope to see is VVV
ability 1 a 5x5x7 square platform than when throw down deploys a 0 grav field for teammates and slows enemy rate and speeds allies fire rate up (so if i throw it in front of my team they would be shooting slightly faster than normal and the enemy team would be shooting slower than normal
ability 2 ORISA GRAV BALL (BRING IR BACK PLEASE)it would work differently though if your on secondary fire its a jump pad for your team(like the green ones in custom mode)or if its primary fire just regular old orisa grav ball

@@TheChrisLouis Pharah IS extremely powerful when players know how to use cover against hitscan. Watching high ranked pharah players is insane, and after their rework they are not as reliant on mercy as they once were.

How is Venture a broken character? They were actually very well received by the community and are a solid pick. Not meta, but still viable.
