Hi, I'm from Belgium. A few months ago I bought a preloved (1994) black patent leather camera bag from Chanel. It aged beautifully. For cleaning the bag I bought ricinus oil at the pharmasist.
I will use it only once a year.

@@MELLONCELLO The ricinus oil is nourisshing and protects patent leather from cracking. use it only once or twice a year and keep your bags out of sunlight or they get sticky.

@@vivianeduerinck5914 Ricinus oil is Castor Oil. That is very interesting. Too bad I can't try that as I'm allergic to Castor oil. Also interesting that the sun makes patent sticky. Good to know. I thought it was due to humidity.

@@debbieh9009 If you are allergic to Castor oil, you can also use olive oil or vaseline. Keep your bags dry and out of sunlight. I keep my patent leather bag in a cupboard with the dustbag on, with one side open, so the bag can breathe but it doesn't touch other bags. In my opinion this is the best protection for patent leather bags.

Mel have you thought about taking the bag to Chanel and have them fix the areas where it needs touch-ups? Try it won’t hurt!

What would you recommend that is water resistant then?

Thanks for sharing!! We always hear about how "durable" and "easy" patent is, but it's good to know I should put my money toward the other leather chanel bags instead!

This Boy bag is glossy/ shiny calfskin, still a delicate leather, it’s a very different finish to Patent leather which is far more durable.

I’m loving my Coach Sammy Top handle in patent and I got it on sale too! Even if it’s get scratch I won’t be as upset as I would if I were to buy at Chanel or Hermes price

I removed a white mark from my black patent mini 21K that arrived with rubbing the chamois cleaning cloth on it...It took a bit of gentle but firm motion, though it did resolve.

I must have about 12 patent Chanel bags and have nevre had aproblem with any of them, in fact I find them the most hardy. If the shiny top layer comes off just touch in with clear nail varnich. There is also a product you can buy on eBay which rstores the shiney surface. If you reply I will find outr what it is called. X

Still have the bag? Looks like those white marks are scuffs. Tip for patent bags and shoes: use hand sanitizer on a q-tip to wipe it off. Test an inconspicuous area first.

try rubbing alcohol on a qtip on the white mark then wipe with a damp cloth.

I've had a patent kate spade bag peel at the handles after much wear and tear... hopefully not an issue w/ Chanel patent.

hey which one would you recommend chanel medium classic black lambskin vs beige clair in caviar?
i have no luxury handbag let alone chanel. I want to add black but heard so many bad things about lambskin. I feel i want to add beige mini or woc. Black caviar is so expensive on preloved. If you could choose one- black lambskin GHW vs beige clair in caviar SHW
    love your channel and style💗💗💗

Would definitely say the beige clair in caviar - better for wear and tear and great all year round colour! I have lambskin Chanel shoes and they just don’t wear well at all, hope that helps! And thank you for the support lovely 💖💖

Honestly, I would say go in, take a look and go with the one that makes you say WOW. Lambskin is more delicate in acquiring surface scratches, but I also think that over time, that adds to the bag developing a beautiful and unique patina (just look at how beautiful vintage bags look). They are also more durable than most people think. I feel like a lot of people get a surface scratch after their first use and immediately think the bag is ruined, and if you're in this crew, definitely choose caviar, but as long as they are surface scratches, they usually buff out if you gently rub your finger over it for a bit. Lambskin is also easier to repair if you do seriously damage it, whereas caviar is pretty much ruined if it's damaged. You can't go wrong with either and if it's your first you should definitely go with the one that takes your breath away!

@@SueYisoSueet You are so right, also caviar can be damaged,so it can get horrible with age Lambskin age so well and surface scratches can be buffed off,so it s not as delicate as it seems You may pay attention with nails

I love the bag. Haven’t had a clue that these issues would arise… I would love actually one of the kind that underwhelmed you. I just don’t get how people buy the mini boy and actually use it. It’s tiny and über expensive.

My mum has the ruthenium one and actually it’s aged pretty well with the caviar leather! And totally agree on the mini too
