Conclusion: If you are purchasing a cheaper build it is best to go with a prebuilt. If you are going for a higher end gaming pc it is best to build it yourself

sad you are not considering shipping cost for all individual components. In my opinion its a cost that should be comparable to prebuilt.

I view it in 3 categories:
    - Console gamers for casuals or parents that want to spend less than $600.
    - Pre-built gaming PCs for $601 to $1k for those worried they will mess it up.
    - Custome builds for $1k+ for those who are competitive and have highly customized wants.

back in april of this year, i built my first ever gaming PC . i came from a asus laptop that had a RTX 2060 + i7-7700. i was able to find a 3070 for $300, got an i5-11400 for $150, and got a case, mobo, ram ,. and a 650W PSU. the build came out to roughly $700. a PC with similar specs at best buy would have cost me $1100+ !!
2 months ago, i upgraded to a 4070 and i just got a i5-13600K. making the build total from $700 to $1200. though pricey, a desktop with similar specs (but with DDR5 RAM) costs $1800! its crazy how expensive both custom building, and pre-built computers can get, but it will always be cheaper to build it your own.

Building your own is always worth it in my opinion because you can shave money in some areas to improve others, but it's a cool analysis to see the more your budget the more you save overall.

@@anons000 it's pretty hard to break things if you just follow instructions and work with intention. I have built multiple PCs and have never broke anything.

What about expansion cards , it asks if you need a sound card or a wifi card
