Great review and I agree wholeheartedly it is great to see the extra there, it makes it all just that bit easier and that’s what we all want. I have a question what product would you recommend, I have a jeep grand Cherokee that has never really effectively had the Apple CarPlay work, I believe the connection port is faulty but jeep says no, anyway what type of product would you recommend to use to give me back Apple CarPlay that can interface with the jeep display but not necessarily through the usb port. I might be asking a bit much and potentially go the capuride path as the look a great device, looking forward to you thoughts 👍🏻
What about the screen in your Jeep Cherokee? Is it any good? I'm asking because if you go with a normal USB-based adapter like this one - 1) it may or may not work, 2) you will still rely on the built-in Infotainment to contain all the smarts to show stuff... But if you find a way to put Carpuride or Eonon or something similar into it, then all you need to do is find a way to fit an extra screen, and you're basically done. It's up to you mate.
@@AutoGearReviews thanks yes the rest of the screen and system work fine it just USB ports that are flaky so I don’t use the for charging it to connect the phone, the Bluetooth side works fine, but compared to a complete Apple CarPlay or Android Auto it is limited, that was why I was looking at a product that could bypass the USB input ports to talk to the display, I hope that makes sense 👍🏻
If you have a reasonably new phone with the latest OTA Android update, the Android Auto should be pre-installed or built-into the operating system itself. Main thing is that the adapter only establishes wireless connection between your phone and the WIRED AA within your infotainment unit of the car - if it has one. If it doesn't, it won't work. If your car is old, look into a cheap Head Unit that would be completely independent from what your car has built-in.
Absolutely no idea as we don't have them in AU. But if the car has a built-in WIRED Carplay or Android Auto, this should provide wireless connectivity to whatever is inside your car already. Just check the specs of the vehicle.

Once you start your car, how long does it take for your phone to connect ?
It's pretty quick I'd say, on par with Ottocast. Why? are you in a particular rush? 🤷♀️🤣
