How do I find a tradesperson that knows how to do this kind of restoration work? Around here I feel like the GCs would either not be able to do this or would not want to.
It is not quite the same though - slight different color aside, the old one has less discernible grains and longer grains which results in smoother color (1:25 vs 7:27). Why is that? Is it because the wood (old vs new growth/different age the tree is harvested/different treatment) or different in type of finish (penetrating vs lacquer etc)?

I think Rocky should have been the one to help and fix the issues. Rocky did the damage. Every time I broke a window, in the house, my dad would make me help him fix it. Those were the good ol days.
If they ever sell the place,do you honestly think prospective buyers would look at that damage to the posts and instantly think a dog did it instead of a potentially more serious issue like wood lot?
1 brad nail in that designer dog would solve it. :) Seriously, though, why on Earth would they fix it if they worry the dog will chew it again?! First, train your dog, THEN fix the damage.

They have beautiful woodwork and they let their dog chew it 😡 We have a new puppy. It has not chewed anything we didn’t want it to. Because we monitor it and provide it chew toys. Poor Tommy having to go back and fix a problem that shouldn’t have been allowed to ever happen.
There is something truly satisfying about watching a master at work.

Go to a furniture store ask for a restoration person all the furniture stores have a restoration person they would be able to take care of anything

Old one was quarter or riff sawn. The new one is plain sawn.
