  • This was a very bad idea
    the run uses the pm_thirdperson 1 command, which not only puts the perspective in 3rd person but also removes the hud, crosshair, and makes using a keypad an absolute nightmare. Watch at your own risk. a great way to prep for sgdq

    Great run - very enjoyable. Funny thing that came to my mind: Since you did not know your health at any point - if you had not enought health to survive the 2nd Rocket Jump for the bridge skip glitch in the central server banks, run would have been over :D
    Did you do this with Doom 3 BFG Edition or classic?

    Around 12 minutes in and we start to see ol’ reliable not destroying point blank enemies. You said you think you might be missing. But I wonder if some misses are due to how Doom 3’s camera gets thrown off by taking damage. So since you’re in 3 rd person, you don’t see that you’re aiming is of of whack. And fire when you normally would wait for the camera to return to normal.

    Funny thing is, to get rid of the hyper spaz ui and health bars and dumbass consolitus awareness states in Cyberpunk early on, it came at the cost of the health bar, with ammo being on about half the weapons and most of the sight attachments*... I made that trade and never looked back lol.
    It would be a bit complex in doom3 with a more traditional health system, but at this point I've been starting to turn more and more 2d UI off in games. Think I'll test it next time I load this up, Cyberpunk has a magic potion philosophy with healing, so I just top it off any chance I get... which works out given after about level 25 it some how goes from being a bullet sponge for everyone to a one or two hit kill for everyone yourself included... which has its fun don't get me wrong lol just like... again confused as to how dynamically scaling damage and HP rates into the tens of thousands to offset the level gain was the wiser choice lol but the gameplay does work this way somehow, if not ideal and get's kinda nuts...
    No hud but with Doom guy's combat skills and acrobatics and with damage outputs equal to the old Rainbow Six games (the tactical ones with all the hyper detail that the series made it's name from... not the u3 era and vegas gears of duty ripoffs).
    Can totally have a health bar again now, but fuck it I won't go back lol, and I can't5 stand this modern trend of having UI ontop of UI ontop of ingame UI, ontop of in world UI and then the final fuck you to immersion, damage number ticks from CRPGS... Like can't we just do the Dead Space thing lol? everyone loved that system... almost no one uses it with the... Lol the Titty bar...!
    That game was beyond the fuckin pale for tech innovation's, pickin up boxes with two hands in game, controlling your weapon with your arm not body... janky as fuck but so fuckin ahead of it's time... man I wish people had picked up the RIGHT lessons from that, rather than the we should never try this it will never work infact lets just have everything automated so the analogue stick controllers can play too and since they suck for the game style, just set it up so you hit a button and the game plays itself (remember climbing in assassins' creed 3... that was the blinding comet of bad omens for context leans and preanimated every ingame action, rather than actions you get to do lol.).
    When you looked at the icon, ingame iconography and the in world hud functions with deadspace they fuckin nailed it... showed you what to wanted... showed you what you needed... and didn't turn the whole screen into a clusterfuckery of icons quest markers grenade warning, awareness indicatorsso... who the fuck at Crytek told CDPR to do that... lol (game on delta difficulty, beautiful... game on anything under... looks like text and highlight effect confetti...
    and you almost never end up with some sort of rescalable options anymore, so text is console sized, for is pushed in ecerter
    *(though ammo never bugged me cause of how much squad I've played, still, wish they had gone all the way Full Deadspace instead of 50/50)

    i can't get my doom 3 to stop stuttering every now and then, and i play on an i7 9750h with 16gb ram and nvidia rtx 2060. i've been able to play the game obviously but the stuttering every so often is really hard to deal with. i tried the fix where you make an autoexec config file to make the fps go above 63 and it just makes my game run so fast even with vsync enabled. the game even stutters on low settings with special effects and shadows disabled. fuckin sucks.

      ok i solved the problem. the reason the game was running soooo fast when i made the autoexec file was because it was making the fps match my monitor at 144hz. at first i set my monitor to 60hz but i didn't want to slow down doom any, since i guess it runs at 62.5 fps. so i set the monitor to 75 hz and i can play flawlessly now. i would guess the game is running slightly faster now, but that isn't noticeable and i prefer it actually. it's crazy that it has taken me 16 hours to get to delta labs sector 3, and you run through that much in about a half hour. i am reading everyone's emails though. insane!

      They don't. Doom 3 doesn't have the same protagonist as any other Doom game.
      The protagonist in Doom 3 is Doom Marine and Doom 3 takes place in a different universe apart of the other doom games.

      @@Dr.PaiPai Quake Champions is canon and has the Doom Slayer from Doom 3.
      Somehow through some plot hole fuckery they are the same person probably from different timelines like with Wolfenstein New Order being parallels with Wolfenstein 3D and Doom.

      @@TheStrayHALOMAN The guy from Doom 3 is literally called Doom Marine in Quake champions.
      The fact Doom Marime has a different name from Doom slayer should tell you it's two different people.
      And again, Doom 3 takes place in a different universe apart from the other doom games, so no, Doom Marine is not the Doom slayer.
      Hell, in Quake champions, Doom slayer and Doom Marine literally look different when it comes to their faces, again, showing they're two different people.

      @@Dr.PaiPai Every suit in quake has a different name that's how they categorize the unlocks.
      Same with every face even if they're different it's the same person, why do they share lore then.
      You can put Doom 3's head on the Slayer's body too showing they're the same person.

    This game would have been even better had they didn't branded this as Doom 3 but its own standalone title. Probably, would even make the other popular horror space horrors like Prey & Dead Space series ran out of the money considering the monster and atmosphere in this game are much terrifying than the thing in Dead Space

    I wish there was an option to put ALL of these atrocious first-person games in third-person. How anyone can not only tolerate but actually ENJOY playing in first-person is beyond me. It is the most awkward, horrendous camera view to ever exist. I absolutely HATE first-person games! Sadly the market has become saturated with this garbage, especially on the PS4.
