      You should give it a crack, wasn’t that hard to do

    There’s a guide on pelican about the cams. Usually you can rotate the cam so only the front lobe is pushing down a valve. So you fully tighten that cap down and the rest of the cam just sits in place as there’s no force on it. Done it on an s50 tons of times. No danger of uneven pressure on the cam.

    Where did you buy the dowel pins if you got a part number or a link to the website. It would be much appreciated. And good work on the build looking goodddd.

      Thanks bro! The part number for head dowels is 11121726243.

    So I am intrigued by this cam setup but I would like clarify what is being used. The intake cam from a non vanos m50 is being used as the exhaust cam, and a m54b30 intake cam is being used in intake side. Do any m54 vanos components need to be used? Are there any good tutorials on this conversation

    • @jpbuilds5
      @jpbuilds5  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It’s pretty cool hey! No other m54 parts are needed. However you will need to machine the m54 cam vanos splines down so it’s shorted. You will also need to machine the m50NV cam gear mounting face down too. There should be some info online in forums and stuff!

      @jpbuilds5 so do you have a link for the cam blocks to set timing or if you printed them what would you charge to print a set for me and ship them to me in the States?

      @@derekbellamy8040 Check the link in the description, I believe you can buy them on the Alien Engineering website :)

    Why did you check clearance with old bolts?? Isn't should be done with brand new??

    • @jpbuilds5
      @jpbuilds5  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Because the bolts are stretch bolts once they are used once they are weaker, we use the old bolts so we can measure the clearance without wasting a brand new set 😎

    What was the piston ring gap tolerance you are using? Having trouble finding much info online.

      Hey mate, I used the specs from the image on this post! www.bimmerfest.com/threads/1995-325i-e36-m50-piston-ring-gap.761997/

      Thanks! I'm using Hopwood rings for my naturally aspirated M50b30tu stroker build. Top ring is gapped about .016", and second ring right around .018". Slightly larger than I was hoping, but close enough I reckon.@@jpbuilds5

    I also build my M50 but whats the measurement on the Piston rings 1 and 2 (maybe in mm not inch )

      Hey mate, I can’t remember exactly but they were on the looser side of the factory specs

    Could you have got the bores machined so the ridge at the top would go away without overborig it?

    • @jpbuilds5
      @jpbuilds5  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I got them to take out as much as they could but it’s impossible to machine the ridge out fully without making the entire bore oversized

      Haven't dyno'd and changed a lot about the car so couldn't really tell, I'd estimate 5ish hp. Would be more on a 3L bottom end!
