Has the Chromium-based window not refreshing properly been fixed with 24.12.1? Was quite noticeable when alt-tabbing out of a game to Discord app and trying to either write or scroll. Only a part would refresh while the rest of the window would be frozen. Alt-tabbing/switching back n forth the Discord window would fix it until it repeats. Edit: Can confirm it’s still an issue on 24.12.1
I think i need to roll back the driver because Delta Force is unplayable right now. It ran fine yesterday before i updatet. Now i get insane stutter every 5 seconds.
I love my 7800XT. The only driver issues I actually notice having is that Adrenaline doesn't like opening sometimes. Games still play fine and VR works wonderfully. 16GB of VRAM for$450! Imagine NVIDIA doing that lol

I'm so happy for the wsl support, I did my masters thesis on ml with rocm and it was a handful to setup and use in linux, you had to build the binaries manually. Still, the support matrix is short, no non-w class support, and I really think unlocking the 7600xt for rocm would be very beneficial to AMD sales for that sweet cheap 16gb of vram. At least they are moving in some kind of a direction and developing non-cuda is more feasible. Rare amd W

On another TH-cam Channel, I sent someone to your channel because they didn't know how to set up AMD on their system. Now, I've recently got a reply from them to thank me for pointing them here and now they have a more understanding of setting up AMD etc.
hey fabio just wanted to say thanks for being so prompt with your updates. just wanted to highlight something that i was facing issues with, and lots of others on reddit too.. it's causing amd driver timeouts randomly with no apparent fix. but what worked flawlessly for me was to disable the amd audio drivers in device manager as turns out those were clashing with other drivers. turning off the redundant drivers off has brought stability back to my system!
I was having trouble with the stats overlay staying on top. Was screwed up many drivers ago. Loaded up the latest driver yesterday before clan battles and the problem seems to be resolved. Thanks for your in depth overview. I learn a lot from you on video drivers and the associated software. Keep up the good work Fabio. Many of us appreciated it even if we do not tell you every video.
I did not update my drivers until Fabio release his video review. Many thanks! Hope they will get soon updated Throne and Liberty with FS3 and Frame Generation.
I don't even have an AMD card (except for a really old one not currently being used), but I still like to watch his videos. I am putting together a system with a 7900 XTX for a friend though, so have been paying a little bit more attention to this channel than usual lately.
Im happy to have found your channel, Its surprising no one else really does this, If so i have not see anything else like this, Much love brother, Appreciate your hard work for this.
Fixed all the issues that i used to encounter with all the previous drivers on my RX 6650 XT ! No weird flickering or coilwhine and the amd adrenaline app no longer takes ages to start after booting up ! Thanks AMD, finally ! Update : Amd adrenaline sometimes still takes at least 1 minute to start after entering windows.. (its been doing that since 24.6.1 on my card i believe) All good apart from that
I have 6650xt and I m still using 24.7.1 drivers, all the following drivers was unstable for me. I m not wure if I want to give to this a try ..but if u checked them maybe I can do it also:)

Its starting to get funny that for the past few updates, Fabio has been the one to inform me first, that there is an update, not AMD email nor AMD software hahaha
I find it ironic that I was starting to watch this video, and my video driver crashed (all video outputs went black). I am on 24.10.27.1 after just updating to Win 11 24H2 and using old 24.3.1 drivers. Maybe it was my vram tuning / underclock that did it (on my 6950XT). Will clean the drivers and put on 24.12.1. Thanks for continuing to do these videos. Very helpful!
Delta Force have not fixed with the 24.12.1 for all player. FPS Drops, Stuttering and bad Frametime in the Warfare Mode. Deactivate Smart Access Memory reduce it but dont fix it. The 24.8.1 is the last driver that not have these problem. 24.10.1 much worse. 24.12.1 and SAM off is the best what player can do. Devs are aware of this problem.
i remember someone complaining about COD 6 and that they had to go back to 24.5.1 for it to work well, while other said it worked well on 24.9.1... so probably DDU fixable issue or something
You always give the best reviews for gpu drivers amd detailed. Working with exported profile snapshot from previous drivers may cause issue i didnt know that before. Thanks for sharing with us.
12:05 see the small stutter on frametime graph that still didn't get fixed that was the main issue in the previous drivers but now it seems to be much smaller spikes than before. it happens randomly 2-3 sec and goes back to normal but this driver its not that noticeable like before. if u want to completely fix the stutters u need to use dx11 launch command on steam.
Or install the 24.8.1 Drivers to fix the sttuter, developers said in the discord that fix the problem, and for me ye it solve it, no stutter or any problems with the drivers, a little old but ye

I'm experiencing stutters in every game since last update, fingers crossed this new drivers will fix that, instead of a new GPU X_x. Thanks for your dedication bro, highly appreciated
I may be wrong but I'm having a hunch that AMD will release a driver with massive improvements and some new features in 25.1.1 alongwith support for RDNA 4.
For over a year i had problems with idle wattage where the VRAM got stuck which i reported multiple times. And now with 24.12.1 that issue seems to be finally resolved.
I had a similar issue once, when I was upgrading from I think a RX5500 to a RX6800. I assume in my case that I did not fully shut down Windows, but had Windows quickstart active, where Windows puts the kernel into storage and reloads it. So there might have been unwanted driver residues from the RX5500 which prevented the RX6800 from powering down the VRAM. Best solution: DDU, remove all remnants of the driver and make a fresh driver reinstall.
I got the update just last night, i was waiting for your video and your impressions for the drivers. For me, what worries me is that like 24.10.1, the drivers really load slow with windows startup but welp, at some point, AMD will fix that too xD Fabio, i noticed something else, yesterday, at the same time they released 24.12.1 also another driver showed up 24.20.25.1 Even that it has the SAME official release date as 24.12.1 (Released : 27/11/24) and seem to be beta ones, when you press to scan for update, it offers you to update to 24.12.1,which got me more confused even! If you find some time, get your hands on them as well, im too dumb to understand what these drivers are for but i trust you will find what they were released for. Great and detailed video!
Did it get rid of compiling shaders after the first time or just reduce the amount of time it takes? I don't know cause my .ini bypasses it altogether.
thanks as always my dear friend u are an expert in AMD drivers and we know from u!!wish u best weekend and good time!!very happy always that know great chanel !!
24.10.1 worked fine for me. I used to play dx12 for Fortnite but performance mode gives better input delay. Your first 2 or 3 games will have unpleasant frame drops when you look anywhere but strait in front of you but after the first couple games it goes away and acts as it should
@justbob8294 Personally I'm hoping that AMD takes a "Nvidia Linux" approach to drivers with branches in the future, For instance Nvidia has 3 driver branches for Linux, A known stable build, thats a little behind, but it has the least issues of any driver. This is our, 24.8.1. A build that adds support for new programs and games, Similar to our current driver set, And an experimental tree that adds entirely new features or revamps parts of the driver source, similar to the old AMFM Branch. The fact GPU manufacturers are not transparant with code changes upon new driver releases is what makes this such a struggle. These companies need to clearly communicate that WHQL Certification means nothing about stability. More reasons to only update if you absolutely need too, which is bad software dedign in my opinion. You should be excited to update as an end user. The same way power users are excited to test new features. Not fearful that it will leave you with an unplayable system.
How did your RX6800M perform with 24.12.1? I have the same laptop but with 23.12.1. I haven't had any issues other than not being able to select the native resolution in RDR2 while Vulkan API is selected.
Red Dead Redemption 2 struggling and crashing for me on this driver and previous drivers, im using an RX 7600 (Sapphire) and the problem is still not fixed. When i try to exit valentine the whole game just crashes. I’ve tried everything: reinstalling the game, verifying the files, resetting the shader cache, clean installing GPU drivers, rolling back drivers, and even updating my motherboard BIOS and chipset drivers, but nothing has worked so far.
So far this driver has been pretty good, 24.10.1 was insanely buggy for me on the RX 7700 XT. Only thing they haven't sort of figured out is that, well at least for me, is that AMD Adrenalin fails to detect some games at startup and it just gives me the empty "AMD Adrenalin Software, Press ALT + R" pop up with no settings indicating what's enabled and whatnot. Its a tad bit annoying, but the fix I've found it for it is simply re-adding the games to the list or rebooting the PC. Hopefully its fixed in future revisions.
@stylox-c2c Yeah it's annoying, and I'm not entirely sure if AMD is aware of the issue. There are workarounds, like I mentioned in my comment, but it is rather annoying having to do that every time. Hopefully for 24.12.2 (or 25.1.1), they make the game detection more consistent.
I'm so happy with the new update. The last one was trash. It would crash all the time and cause high RAM usage. Ever since the December update, it's been smooth as it gets!! And I can overclock my GPU and CPU without having to crash and get everything reset to default by Adrenaline.
I had problems with the overclocking profile when I used it in new versions of the drivers. The fan speed curve was not applied correctly (either too high or too low) Thanks for the video 👍
Hey dude I have the same card and I'm still getting big stutters in delta force even after the new drivers, can you let me know if you have the same issues please fella.
@@respawn3598 I recommend going back to 24.5.1. It's the best overall driver for AMD cards. i only updated drivers to test out Indiana Jones. I played Delta Force with the 24.5.1 driver and i didnt have issues. A few frames drops but those are game related. however, no stutters
I didn't see anything about Indiana Jones OR the big Space Marine 2 update, now Nvidia dropped drivers for Indiana Jones and the upcoming Space Marines 2 patch on 10th but nothing for my 7900xtx

"Texture corruption may appear while playing The Crew Motorfest." This is not 100% fixed. 😥 Here on the 6800XT, this issue still exists during the sunny cycle. Some textures continue to flicker on the mountains in the background or on the road around the car.
just a tip for framing when recording, have the point between your eyebrows center instead of your mouth, as human eyes tend more to focus on the center of the screen
If AMD reads the comments, get a working control panel for Linux already please, so we can use advanced graphics card features...like AFMF, sharpening, among other things..
@@justbob8294 can't even undervolt nvidia under linux. i'm literally limiting tdp instead because i don't think the default power consumption of my rtx 4080 is acceptable. so catching up is a relative term as nvidia was so far behind before. also nvidia doesn't have a working control panel either.
Fabio making me laugh like usual at 1:10 , another great video. I'm curious if you going to include Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 in the suite of game benchmarks when it comes out? Appreciate you 🙏
Yeah same i tested the intro sequence in stalker 2 and it seems no fps difference but a bit better frametimes and less VRAM usage. I still have shader compiling every time i start the game (but i dont mind^^). In Delta Force i have fps drops down to 10/20 fps with 24.10.1 and with the 24.12.1 still drops but only like 60/80 fps from like 150 average on DX12. You can put "-dx11" in the launch options in steam and no issues at all (except of some shader stutters in the beginning i think) but that's not a official solution of course but it works better. (5800x3D, 7800 XT)

Oh good. I had major, major issues with loads of games with 24.10.1 and Fortnite in particular wasn't playable. Got the warning about the driver and it was awful when I tried to play it. Several other games like Diablo and even Football Manager had major issues too, crashes and slow downs so I've not really played any games since 24.10 came out as it broke everything. I'll update now and try this one. If not, I'll have to review the settings, I see you've posted a new video about Adrenaline settings.
Hey Fabio hope all is well! I have a Radeon vii still in my gaming rig, I got lucky she still works (Missed the mining craze I know) Heard drivers are not continuing for Vega cards is that true?
Installed the new 24.12.1 drivers and tested Silent Hill 2, and I can say there are only what you've described as traversal stutters now, the rest of the game feels noticeably smoother now than what it was before. Still far from ideal, I would love to see the stutters completely gone some day. I think Epic Games really needs to do something on their part and do more optimizations on their Unreal Engine 5. Speaking of Silent Hill 2 in particular - whenever I use frame generation in it, the game feels more sluggish (greater input latency like, when I move my mouse slightly the camera moves a fraction of a second later), as opposed to when I disable it and just leave the FSR at Balanced. Without FG the game feels noticeably more responsive, at a certain cost of frames. I'm already running the game at optimized settings which I found in BenchmarKing's video tutorial (with great results, higher framerates without sacrificing too much visual quality). Is there a way to use FG for higher framerates AND have less sluggish input? I'm already using Anti-Lag btw. Another UE5 game, The First Descendant though, is still seeing a fair share of stuttering due to having a lot more things going on in the given scene, plus it's multiplayer anyway. But what really BLEW ME AWAY, especially with all my [bad, per se] experience with other UE5 titles - Marvel Rivals is BUTTER-SMOOTH compared to other UE5 games! I was expecting a disaster but no, NOT - ONE - HITCH! Sure, the framerate leaves some room for improvement. I'm getting up to around 100-110fps (which then dips to 80-90 during more intense fights) at 4K High settings and FSR Quality on my 7900 XTX. I'd love to top it off to 144 which is what my monitor supports, without sacrificing the otherwise gorgeous graphics that this game has.
Only use FG when you have at least 60 FPS before activating it, otherwise it will run sluggish as you described. Also try 4K Medium and/or FSR Balanced in MR.
Always watch Fabio 1st, then update driver 2nd
good haha
This is standard procedure lol

Has the Chromium-based window not refreshing properly been fixed with 24.12.1? Was quite noticeable when alt-tabbing out of a game to Discord app and trying to either write or scroll. Only a part would refresh while the rest of the window would be frozen. Alt-tabbing/switching back n forth the Discord window would fix it until it repeats.
Edit: Can confirm it’s still an issue on 24.12.1

I'm so happy for the wsl support, I did my masters thesis on ml with rocm and it was a handful to setup and use in linux, you had to build the binaries manually. Still, the support matrix is short, no non-w class support, and I really think unlocking the 7600xt for rocm would be very beneficial to AMD sales for that sweet cheap 16gb of vram. hey fabio just wanted to say thanks for being so prompt with your updates. just wanted to highlight something that i was facing issues with, and lots of others on reddit too.. it's causing amd driver timeouts randomly with no apparent fix. but what worked flawlessly for me was to disable the amd audio drivers in device manager as turns out those were clashing with other drivers. turning off the redundant drivers off has brought stability back to my system!

Lately, AMD drivers been like that crazy uncle who's late to family gatherings, but still comes through in a clutch.
I may be wrong but I'm having a hunch that AMD will release a driver with massive improvements and some new features in 25.1.1 alongwith support for RDNA 4.
I do hope so
I can say that latency is much better now, I especially felt that in bf2042.
For me, what worries me is that like 24.10.1, the drivers really load slow with windows startup but welp, at some point, AMD will fix that too xD
Fabio, i noticed something else, yesterday, at the same time they released 24.12.1 also another driver showed up 24.20.25.1
Even that it has the SAME official release date as 24.12.1 (Released : 27/11/24) and seem to be beta ones, when you press to scan for update, it offers you to update to 24.12.1,which got me more confused even!
If you find some time, get your hands on them as well, im too dumb to understand what these drivers are for but i trust you will find what they were released for.

24.10.1 worked fine for me. I used to play dx12 for Fortnite but performance mode gives better input delay. Your first 2 or 3 games will have unpleasant frame drops when you look anywhere but strait in front of you but after the first couple games it goes away and acts as it should
Gonna test with my 6800m when I'm home. Had some issues with 24.9.1 and 24.10.1.
yeah, there seem to be some issues. still for my friend with this driver on his rx6950tx. for him the last good driver is 24.8.1
@justbob8294 Personally I'm hoping that AMD takes a "Nvidia Linux" approach to drivers with branches in the future,
For instance
Nvidia has 3 driver branches for Linux,
A known stable build, thats a little behind, but it has the least issues of any driver. This is our, 24.8.1.
A build that adds support for new programs and games, Similar to our current driver set,
And an experimental tree that adds entirely new features or revamps parts of the driver source, similar to the old AMFM Branch.

Hey this is my gpu 6600 XT Yeeey🎉
Thank you!
Yeah i had this problem also not being able to enable AFMF 2 in some games because the Adrenalin didn't detect it
@stylox-c2c Yeah it's annoying, and I'm not entirely sure if AMD is aware of the issue. There are workarounds, like I mentioned in my comment, but it is rather annoying having to do that every time. Hopefully for 24.12.2 (or 25.1.1), they make the game detection more consistent.

I have a 7700XT, but I don't see any benefits in Delta Force. I have to wait for a definitive game patch.
Developers need to stop messing around and actually optimize their shitty games... especially with UE5
Unreal 5 has problems for sure.
The only game that works great on it is like Dark and Darker imo
Only use FG when you have at least 60 FPS before activating it, otherwise it will run sluggish as you described. Also try 4K Medium and/or FSR Balanced in MR.
24 is some random number, 12 is that number divided by two, and 1 is idk 12 divided by 12 or smth.
