I know I complain about talking about gear but this actually fun to switch up from my typical directing/documentary focus! Truly loving my new mic also.
I am using the same mic and it is not being talked enough honestly! the rode mics move around a lot due to the "suspension" to reduce handling noise but the mke400 has it built in and with windshield as well. Amazing mic, sturdy, compact, and light.
👌 I was amazed at how good the MKE400 mic was in windy conditions and lack of handling noise compared to the Rode mounts. Try out the pgytech mantispod. I switched from the Manfrotto pixi. It’s really fun seeing where I can hang my camera from for interesting shots.
Nice set up. I totally LOVE sennheiser mics! I have the MKE 600 and since I got it I’ve never connected another mic to my camera, same with my cinema lenses. What about the fx6???
Hey Mark, what codec do you shoot with on the FX3? I’m an FX3 user as well and I love the camera. I’m especially curious because I also edit on an intel Mac. I’ve been using the 4K All-I, which looks great and edits well, but the file sizes are huge. Just curious what your experience has been like so far. Thanks for sharing your gear, and more importantly your knowledge on storytelling! Haha
Yoo I love your setup! Definitely need to try the 16-35. Was the dot on the screen from the ND filter? I get that sometimes with my Tiffen filters and have to take them off

I have zero dollars and am late with rent. I'm going to use my iPhone se 2nd gen to shoot everything for a short doc I'm making. Think it will be good enough? I just want to get something done because If I start delving into all the possibilities for equipment and technique, I'll get overwhelmed and paralyzed. Hopefully, i can fix any serious errors later. Think I"m making a mistake just going for it?
👌 Mark! Have you checked out Clarity VX yet? I just purchased the $30 version the other day and it COMPLETELY saved my interview audio. We had to film in a loud factory and the noise was terrible. The software made it so quiet that the voice sounded like it was recorded in a closet and I had to add back in ambient factory sounds. Check it out! 🙌

Talking about your gear, and the MacBook, I was curious about what editing software do you use or what programs you usually use in you computer. That could be and interesting video and generate and interesting comment section where people talks about what they use. For example I am switching to Davinci Resolve 17 from Premiere and I discovered that safari waist very little battery but it doesn't work well with some pages like twich while google chrome works great but waits a ton of battery, or that I believe that Macs fan control is a must have in the MacBook Pro m1.
Had the first version of MK-400 and this upgrade looks great, yet for the FX3 you might also consider the SONY 3 selectable Directivity Patterns which is incredibly useful. Pricier and only compatible with Sony, but I think superior for an FX3 owner.
👌! Mark, if you haven't yet, check out Waves Clarity Vx, $30, and takes care of any external sounds. It's also a One knob plugin, really easy to use even if you know nothing about audio. Also loving the forest vlog! Nice vibe in this video 👌

Great video as always! From experience I can tell you that Manfrotto tabletop tripod will lose the tension eventually on the ball head and your camera will eventually dip without pressing the button (mine is sitting on my desk right now as I type this). I'd recommend the Mantispod, for vlogging style stuff it is truly a revolutionary piece of kit! 👌

I have an Fx6 but I would only travel with it if I’m a shooting a bigger documentary that requires timecode sync
