Great review! Would you be able to test it against a 90 degree wall to see if the back of the unit sits flush against the corner of a room at the base?
Praise the lord for the pr4000 version coming soon. This is still too tall for my basement. Powertec is overlooked but its like 1300 on sale and can be plate loaded or selectorized.
Pegasus looks legit. Adonis is solid and looks better than the prime unit. More features, no rattling/echo, costs less, and no standard 2 month wait and $1,000 in shipping.
@@44dgerbrandt Maybe see if someone who specializes in that can save you money? Or ship it close to the border and pick it up? No idea, but there are probably solutions unless you live super far north.

I wonder about the shipping on the Rogue unit. I've looked at a few similar items on their site and some require a forklift to move off the freight delivery truck (but you save some time on assembly).
We covered the issues there. The trolley would sit high, thought it's possible with that. The low row can't do vertical pulls without the cable rubbing on the retention bolt. You can remove that bolt (I did) but that's not how Rep depicted it nor how they tell you to build it.
The angle would really pull you forward vs having it more underneath. You can remove the low row cable retention bolt (I did) to get rid of the rubbing issue.
I understand it’s not selectorized but how would you compare to Titans Plate Loaded Functional Trainer? It’s hard for me to justify a weight stack being $1000+ more compared to plate loaded. I saw Titans on sale recently for $850, and comes with 2 pulleys. Would you ever review it?
How would it be for belt squats? I know you would have to start at the bottom and use plates/blocks to stand on but looks like the low cable can travel vertically?
Does anyone know if there is a way to attach/use the Pegasus with the Selectorized Lat Pulldown & Low Row (4000/5000 Series)? I have a dual Athena 6-post setup with the lat/row setup.
@@chinan491 I did some measuring and it doesn't seem to line up with because of the difference between the measurement systems. At some point I'll move things around and try to link them but based on my measurements it's not something I'd plan to do.
Build quality looks amazing on this but I honestly prefer the versatility of a dual cable design like the Bells of Steel cable tower (I have two). Being able to do 1:1 or 2:1 from any height, as well as dual cable movements (rows, curls, pressdowns) is awesome. Cables running down the side of the uprights means I can attach them to lever arms from the bottom. Add a lat pulldown attachment from Matt Porter (or a DIY version like mine) and they basically do everything (in my case that includes flyes, presses, etc since I have two… for the same price as one Adonis). The new GetRX unit looks like a better, 3x3 version of this design (Titan makes a worse version, naturally 😂) This is all kinda moot though for me anyway since Bells is the only one (apart from Titan) that’s short enough to fit in my basement.
Other than the fit and finish, I can't figure out a reason to go with the CTM-1 yet. CTM even is using nylon pulley wheels, or at least they say they're "imported." Everything seems very close except that the CTM limits you to the selectorized stack, which looks better and is more stack weight than REP, but the smaller stack gives the Adonis the ability to have longer cable travel. Is there anything I'm missing that's really stand out for the CTM? The trolley might be beefier on Rogue but Adonis may be easier to use.
The material of the pulley doesn't really affect it's function. It's the bearings that matter. That narrative is tied to many budget companies using Nylon pulleys with poor quality/cheap bearings in them. That's not what Rogue is doing, I've seen the Nylon pulleys in the Single and Twin stack, they're very good. The CTM-1 has a sectorized and plate loaded version as well. Cable travel shouldn't be an issue with the CTM-1 because just like with the Adonis, Rogue has two pulley ratios and you'll have a lot of cable to work with when using the trolley. The appeal of the CTM-1 is it's an American made product with a higher fit and finish. Don't get me wrong, Rep has done a great job here but For similar money the CTM-1 will end up being very temping for anyone looking in this budget range.
In addition to Gluck’s comments, the CTM-1 will come in multiple height options. The lowest height is a few inches shorter than the Adonis and the tallest ones will be great for anyone with really high ceilings. I’d flip it around and say the only advantage of Rep’s is the Pegasus. But if you already have a chest support pad, I’d rather use that with a CTM-1 then get a new one.
@@fwiffo42 Good points. One big thing the CTM looks like it addresses that Gluck pointed out on the Adonis...It looks like on the low row there are 2 pulleys, one for the row and one above it that will allow you to pull straight up. Found a video of the LP-2 that shows that the lower pulley allows pulls from above the low row.
The scuffs were likely caused by the delivery company. I had that issue with my cross members for my 5200. Rep will replace those parts or send out touchup paint (your choice). I've had nothing but great experiences with Rep's customer service team and honoring their warranties. You can buy with confidence.
Of course they'll replace it as will a Rogue and any other respectable company but I unpacked it and the stuff was able to slide around easily. I can't blame the delivery service.
@@GlucksGym unfortunately big stuff like this never comes perfect in one shipment. Even rogue has had similar issues. I’ve seen orders where the uprights and crossmembers were rusted. My point is if the blemishes bother you (which they did with my ARES) they’re more than willing to do right by you. Rep and rogue are absolutely great.
The low row cable does run between the bottom pulleys but there's a retention bolt above it that the cable rubs on. You can remove that bolt (I have) but that's not how Rep tells you to build it nor how they have it pictured.
It looks like a great piece, But here's the thing that will keep me from buying it. There's no option for a 4000 series style upright on the front. I've got a ton of money invested in a 4000 series rack with a bunch of accessories that would be nice to use on this, but won't be able to. And I'm not going to double up on certain items because that defeats the purpose of staying in one ecosystem. They need to make a version for a 4000 Series front upright.
As always great honest review. Really appreciate that even though it was given to you for free, you don’t hold back on criticism. Also your inappropriate double meaning joke game has gotten weak compared to past years. Haha
Just get a hoist v4 elite has everything on it. No one reviewing it cuz they wont get anything out of it!! Its all bout affiliates . Same length has leg extension and chest fly🤔
Is this really intended as a home gym product? The comparable $3000 Rogue product only ships fully assembled to a loading dock and is obviously aimed at commercial gyms. For home gyms, I just don't see the value compared to the Bells tower at 60% less.
Bells doesn't get heavy enough and the build quality isn't as good. The Adonis is the perfect piece of equipment... they just need to make an 80" version for basement gyms.
Ouch Gluck. Usually 10/10 stuff. But the Prime HLP racks are famous for having multiple pulley ratios. The lat tower is 1:1 and the trolley is 2:1. And actually on the plate loaded HLP towers the trolley has a pin that you can pull allowing it go to 4:1 for really “athletic” style training. Good review overall but to call out a company for not having the very thing they made popular is a glaring oversight in your equipment knowledge.
Correct. The lat pull on the Single stack is 1:1, the trolley is whichever you purchase (2:1 or 4:1). I re-watched this and agree I worded it very poorly in the summary. I'm referring to potentially needing a gym pin with low rows since the trolley/low row is the one piece, hence same ratio. These aren't perfectly scripted vids and I don't have anyone with me as I film and talking to a camera is hard. I'll do better wording it in the future.
The problem these companies are doing in their design is NOT making their functional trainers at a 3:1 ratio. The FreeMotion functional trainer is the absolute best on the market for functional training cable machines. It uses a 3:1. If you want to have a 1:1 for Pulldown fine but the real question is… why did these companies think that a functional trainer needs more load (1:1 or 2:1) but the exercises typically used with a functional trainer do not use that strength curve due to lack of leverage? When you try to rotational exercise with a 1:1 or 2:1 ratio it feels terrible.
They charge shipping on some stuff. Other stuff they build it in. Other stuff it’s a $75 charge plus stuff. It’s just odd. Probably trying to compete with REP.
Rep has basically been home run after home run recently but this product seems just kinda mehh.. Reps refusal to make anything taller than their standard height is the downfall of this unit. If not for height limitations Rep could just add a heavy enough stack and not need the weight horns. As a stand-alone unit maybe it’s not a big deal but anybody wanting to attach this to a rack, or storage set up, they don’t want to have foot long knee/shin bangers in their way every time they need to actually get to the storage. And maybe it’s possible to leave them off during assembly, but then you’re limited to 210lbs for pull downs and rows which doesn’t seem ideal either. Not only that but Gluck seems to nearly max out the height for pull downs and I’d probably have another 6” of reach than him. Perhaps the seat could go lower than he has it during the demo. Add in the price. The Rogue unit just seems like a substantially better design to the point that I’d rather pay whatever the price of the Rogue unit is + shipping + Rep’s lat seat if I felt it was a worthwhile upgrade just to have what feels like a much better cable tower with nearly 100 more pounds to work with.
Anyone else notice Gluck and GGR are neck and neck reviewing the same exact equipment? I'm guessing there's something contractual about the timing of the releases these days.

Can you put Pegasus on rack with the trolley on the bottom?
Nm just saw the 1 in pin goes straight in from the front. Won’t work. 😅
Shouldn't you be able to put the cable between the pulleys in the bottom and take away all the friction?
The low row cable does run between the bottom pulleys but there's a retention bolt above it that the cable rubs on. You can remove that bolt (I have) but that's not how Rep tells you to build it nor how they have it pictured.
Wonder if they might have sent a demo or prototype model to you. Hence the scratches.
Nope. Mine came later than a lot of other people's. Saw quite a few people post their builds before I got mine.
Can you do lateral raises one bells of steel Cable tower?
I want something like this in my garage, but I am not sure which I want. It will be pricey for whatever I choose.
LETS GO!
If Rogue comes in functionally equivalent it will be hard not to go with MIA even if I have to pay for shipping.
Rogue included shipping in the price too
@@GlucksGym Damn! They will really have to fumble not to be the better pick then. Excited for the review.
How did that powder coat get through QC? Wow!
It was damaged in shipping unfortunately. The crate was in perfect shape but some stuff was able to shift around.
Haha
@@scooobyj8714 Thanks! I appreciate it.
Maybe they just go over your head now 😉
I feel for the money it cost, the seat should have the ability to be used for low rows, for 3k you shouldn’t have to sit on the floor
At first I thought this was just a lat pull and low row. I was pretty wrong
That's the Binford Tools of cable machines. The mightiest of Tim Allen's HUA HUA HUAs
I just wish they had an 80 inch version for my basement
Did yours come all scuffed up?
There's some pics of a some scuffs and chipped powder coat in this review. Nothing functional but it did have some cosmetic damage.
Hope they can offer a shorter version
First B!
Nope
@@carps_gym sorry turd it didn’t update when I Firsted. My B.
Rogue doesn’t do free shipping And REP does…makes a huge difference in total cost
@@shawnjones9679 Rogue's CTM1, barbells, single and twin stack, and other items all ship "free"
@@BigPantsMurda our reviews depend entirely upon when I think our video is ready. I can't compete with a large corporation. We got the Adonis in and although ours came a little late. We tested it thoroughly and once we're able to put out the vid, we do.
@@GlucksGym keep it up man, love the channel
Was more worried for you if the companies were using that kind of pressure
8:24...you what?
The Pegasus 4000 seat (with the 5/8 holes), plus the Kaizen shims, are gonna be perfect for my Bells of Steel cable towers. Thanks for the heads up!
It's a big hole in the Bells lineup that they don't have a comparable product.
I wish they made a 88” version for us basement dwellers..
Since when are basement ceilings 88" or higher?
Mine is 83" - I need them to make an ~80" Adonis.
It was really weird seeing your wife working out in someone else's basement gym
Don't buy a lat pulldown machine without a seat, got it!
😂 Technically they're two separate products and you can pair this with a different option.
@@GlucksGymdude he got you!!! 🔥burn🔥
@@GlucksGym So with the Ares 1.0 on sale for about $1900 - isn't that a better buy?
Too expensive. You can buy a complete home gym for the price of that one lat machine.
