    I'll be getting the shorter version when it drops! I already bought the Pegasus when it went on sale to pair with it. Thanks for showing it paired with the RX3. Even though it was brief, you confirmed that mounting the Pegasus above the trolly will work because the two cables will pass on either side. I figured this much, but it was cool to see a demo. It kinda sucks chest supported rows don't work well, but but I'm eager to try some other exercises in that configuration.
    Also, while I don't plan to use it as a pulldown machine, (I use the Rhino) my wife is only 5 feet tall, and I'm hoping it's an easier setup and enough ROM for her.
    Thanks for pointing out some of the RX3's shortcomings and highlighting what it does well. (The weight stack sticker thing would've drove me nuts lol) Much appreciated!

    I just put together the Tornado arms half rack. I don't have much functional trainer experience, but they definitely seem heavy to move on the upright and wiggle until the pin inserts. I hope it can be a low-cost freemotion trainer with storage shelves in the middle and a secondary rack.

      @GlucksGym As an update, the trolley is much easier to move if the knurled handle is only used to operate the pop pin, and a second hand applies vertical movement at the trolley's center of mass. The cantilevered Tornado arm causes a lot of trolley side load and friction.

    Thanks for such a good review. I have been trying to decide between the RXd 3000 and the BoS weight stack cable tower.
    My home gym is in a 2nd floor bedroom so I am dealing with a tight space. Weight is a consideration for what is allowed in there. I have a Nordictrack incline trainer, Sole elliptical trainer and adjustable dumbbells up there already and it is a small room. So a single tower is all I can really get up in there.
    The RXd looks good because it is taller , has band pegs, and has the 3x3 uprights which allows for more flexibility down the road for expansion and attachments.
    The BoS looks good because it allows for a better Lat Pulldown and Functional trainer experience as well as a potential belt squat option down the road (using Matt Porter’s attachments).
    I have never seen the attachments in person so not certain this should be a decision maker.
    The footprint seems better for me with BoS as it is about 2 foot square versus RXd 5 feet by 3 feet protruding out.
    I’d love to hear thoughts on the two compared from people who have them and have been through this decision process.
    Are the Matt Porter attachments great and do they make that big of a difference?
    Is the 3x3 wide and taller uprights more of a difference maker?
    Thanks

      @waffles418 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I just assembled my selectorized BoS tower last night ... I think this GetRx, for only $300 more, is a much better unit. No regrets though ... you gotta start somewhere and my BoS can keep me productive for quite a while. If I'm lucky enough to outgrow it it will be a cause for celebration.

  • @timk8258
    @timk8258 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Versatility is king for me, which is how I ended up with dual BoS towers. Being able to do either 2:1 or 1:1 on a single tower opens the door to so many different exercises if you like to tinker and try new movements. You can do lever arm movements (leg press, leverage squat, etc) with up to 420lbs of cable resistance, for example.
    Having said all that, if I was starting from scratch (and had the ceiling height) I would be extremely torn between two of these or the tornado rack. Being able to easily adjust the width of the pulleys and get them higher or lower than where the trolley can travel might outweigh the benefits of the dual cables.
    But either way I’m going with the equipment that lets me get the most out of it for my training over the equipment that looks and feels nicer but does less.

    I wish they would offer an upgrade option from last years model. same for their functional trainer. if not someone should offer a front 3X3 post with the old bolt connection points and the new top to bottom one inch holes. (My gripe is really with the 4 post functional trainer i purchased a few months ago)

    • @Jay-fc4fg
      @Jay-fc4fg 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @EnglundFam The RX3 Upright to Builder Upright Adapter mounts your RX3 Crossbars or Uprights to a Builder Upright.. THIS IS NOT THE SOLUTION.. However if they reversed the design.. To mount your existing Builder Upright crossbar to the new RX3 Upright. The that would promote customer loyalty.. My own thought is to hire a local company to make two custom uprights that have the same 10mm bolt on connections.. but have the new 1 inch holes top to bottom..
      Or modify my existing Uprights..

    I’m of the opinion that you buy once cry once. I have REP’s Ares 1.0 on a PR5K and absolutely love it. I do wish I could easily upgrade to the 2.0. I love the upgrades of the new version. This does seem like a really good budget option if a few hundred dollars is a deal breaker. Rogue or REP is the way to go.

      100%. I have the BoS one and the lack of compatibility really holds it back. The weird tub sizing means you're completely limited to what they put out and since they don't make a basic seat with a leg holder, you can forget heavy lat pulldowns.
      Great for lots of other exercises though, but if you've got the choice, go for compatibility.

      @@williamwallace2809 One of our engineers is 6'1" and we had him try with lat pulldown bar, chinning triangle for close grip lat pulldowns, and with single arm using the default handles it comes with. It was enough ROM for the lat pulldown bar and chinning triangle for sure. Very close to enough with the included single handle if you angle back a little, but not enough when sitting totally vertical. We had the lat pull seat at the lowest position and rather than using 2 links of carabiners as seen in gluck's video, you can do with just 1 carabiner link instead. Too expensive. I can buy a seated leg extension/curl machine. a seated row machine, a Smith Machine with an upper and lower cable pulley attachment, a glute ham developer, and a belt squat machine from Temu for less than the price of the RX3000 Cable Tower, and I have. Exercise equipment is getting ridiculously expensive. For instance, Rogue Fitness actually is selling an overbuilt power rack for sale for $9,995. You can pay much more for exercise equipment, but why would you want to when you can buy 5 exercise machines for the price of the one shown in the video?
