I had a toy poodle named Foxy from 2004 -2013. She died of congestive heart failure which was a crushing crushing blow cause it went downhill real fast :( She was the absolute sweetest little thing in the world !! She never left my side ever - and I mean never !! She was never away from me. I miss her so much !! I did get a min pin named Pennie a few weeks later and even though she was neglected young was attacked by a huge dog and now has diabetes - she has been with me for 11 years. OMG he is so damn effing cute !! I hope you both are enjoying each other's company. They are such great companions
I know it might seem cute when she wants to stick with you all the time, but If you might need to go somewhere and leave her home alone shes gonna get major separation anxiety. (Which is NOT good.) You could solve it of course but It will take a lot of work.
I have a toy poodle in Black - 3 pounds! -- teeny weeny. If you baby them too much, they become super dependable, prone to separation anxiety, and less confident. So be careful. I'm in mid 50s now and have had poodles all my life. Super bestest dogs ever....got to brush them too frequently otherwise they get matted fast. Good luck with her! she's really adorable.
A really important thing to teach her that will be helpful and will save you when she is older: CRATE TRAIN HER WHILE SHE IS YOUNG!! it will be incredibly helpful and so much easier when she is a older dog! But also! shes so cute! congrats 🎉
I find it weird that you can just ‘order’ a dog in the United States and pick them up immediately. In the Netherlands you have to contact a breeder and you get put on a list. If the mum dog had her puppies, you have to wait another 2 months and then you can pick them up.

I agree with this to a certain extent, however, in some cases, people have allergies/specific needs where they can't adopt. But, if you adopt you are saving the lives of not only the dog you are adopting but also creating room for another animal who needs shelter.

FYI, dogs get separation anxiety too! She’ll help you with yours but please also help her by preventing her anxiety in the first place. There are lots of videos on puppy separation anxiety that you could learn from :)

you should try out Just Puppies in rockville they have really cute puppies. But the pictures you see online of the puppies make them look bigger. But if you see them in real life they are smaller and way cuter in person

Please stop buying puppies! There are so many dogs on this planet in need of a home. When you buy a puppy, your are contributing to this, most end up in shelters because people want a cute puppy but have no idea how to care for an actual living being. I have two purebred Pomeranians that I got from a shelter...that’s right, someone paid thousands for my adopted Pomeranians and couldn’t care for them and so they dumped them at a shelter, heart worm positive. They are both healthy and wonderful companions now.. If you want a dog, adopt, don’t shop. If you want a puppy, please know the breeder, make sure they aren’t from a puppy mill, make sure to see the living environment and the puppy’s parents, and make sure you are able to take care of this dog for it’s entire life, no matter the expense!
@G C: I know.. I really don't think she did enough research. Puppies are NOT good for people with depression, anxiety, or any other mental disorder that affects their life quite a bit. Referring a puppy as a "therapy" dog just about sums up the research she has done. I am really disappointed, I think she should have adopted as well. 😕
Another thing is service dogs no matter what size they are to have four paws on the ground which means they do not ride in shopping carts.. they can work naked which means they don't have to wear a vest but having them wear a vest lets the public know to leave them alone..when they do not wear a vest you may have access issues since there is no such thing as registration and the two questions people are legally allowed to ask you is is this a service dog and what tasks does it perform
I got a rescue puppy ( 4 1/2 month old) 2 weeks ago and it made my depression even worse, idk what to do, she is scared of dogs/ people/birds/trees/ everything that slightly moves and because she‘s a border collie mix she needs a lot of exercising, but I can‘t do long walks (or anything else outside) cause she‘s too scared....when she gets scared she pulls me home really bad and cause she‘s already so big I almost can‘t handle her outside...I’m so overwhelmed and think it was a bad decision, but I don‘t want to give her away because she doesn‘t deserve that and also because of her anxiety.. I‘m also really scared of her, bc she tries to bite me sometimes (real biting NOT chewing) and she already bit the vet that she was bleeding very strong. She is also very aggressive when someone enters our home or goes by our garden😭😭😭 I don‘t know what to do now. I know it gets better, but it‘s just too much for me....please be aware of those problems before u get one (my mom really wanted a rescue but I knew that I’m not able to handle a traumatized dog, but this was my only chance to get a dog....and now I’m here crying over it and blaming myself for not giving my dog a good life and destroying my health)
Make sure she doesn't have anxiety bc my grandmas dog has and it is so bad but you know what helps is a weighted vest but wait till she a lil bit older
Yes and shes feeding and making the trait stronger in the dog by wanting the dog to be reeeaally attached to her, and that is in long terms going to stress out the poor dog and its just kind of a selfish mistake that unfortunately many dog owners make with their puppys
