I'm glad I caught your channel. I recently have started using my Cricut and thought the Dollar Tree products to be a cheap good starter paper/vinyl. I also found the glitter did not want to stick to any transfer paper, so I am glad it was not just me and my unknowledge with the transfer paper itself. It was Cricut transfer tape too.
I had trouble with a matte glitter vinyl (not dollar tree) not wanting to stick to contact paper or Cricut transfer paper so I used clear packaging tape and it worked great!!
Hi Sallie I have used the dollar tree glitter in making designs to make Christmas cards with. I works nicely on card stock. I also had a hard time getting it to stick to transfer paper.
I finally came across the DT vinyl last week - picked up a few glitter ones to try out too. Used the black vinyl on a couple of porch leaners I designed for Halloween and so far so good.
I’m glad you tried it lol I was thinking about it but I just thought I should wait. I agree maybe a kids craft or school poster. I’d get it for my nieces so they think they are using the same thing without it costing a lot.
I watched on another review/comparison video that the glitter vinyl stuck best to the dollar tree transfer paper of the same brand, which is apparently extremely sticky (and if you use it with your regular vinyl you'd probably want to "de-stick" it a bit on a towel etc. before using). I think this is a great little project, and at the price, I'm going to buy a bunch for trial projects so I'm not wasting my regular much more expensive vinyl. Perfect though for the casual user on more simple projects.
The glitter vinyl is great for cutting into lines and outlining pictures on tumblers or as the lines between sections on tumblers. I did a whole tumbler out of lines of Dollar Tree vinyl. It came out great and nobody knew it was all Dollar Tree vinyl. I made a cool design and used all of their vinyls.
I have a silhouette and a cricut and I wish the Cricut had a design program like the Silhouette, I couldn't do anything you did with the pumpkins on the Cricut Design space.
I bought every color of vinyl that dollar tree had a few weeks ago.... I used the gold glitter and the leopard print for a project and I have to say that I'm mostly impressed. The gold glitter actually did pretty well for me, but I did only use a small piece as a pumpkin stem, the leopard however was giving me issues of not wanting to stick to my door hanger. In all fairness, I did clear coat the wood before applying the vinyl, which I've never done before, so that may be the reason why it didn't stick so well 🤷♀️ I'm curious to see how your cup looks by the end of the week, ty for sharing this experiment 😁
Definitely not for selling purposes. Made a few items and used them for a week as I do to test anything and does not last. Also will tip if you try to cut any kind of fine fonts. Changed my settings from vinyl to washi settings to 70 on a cricut and it still ripped. Cameo rIpped as well. I do love the $1 mock cricut tools.
Hi Sallie ! I'm new to your channel I had a bit of trouble when it came to cutting it out so I went in to my material settings and added a new material (Dollar Tree Vinyl) and set it at the lowest pressure (70) for my machine (which is the Cricut Joy) and it done fine.
I too am having trouble cutting it too on my explorer 2. I am going to have to figure out how to do that so I can try cutting it. I would love to use it on dome of my projects that i sell
I am ok with the dollar tree vinyl for simply things perhaps for use around the house. For instance putting a svg file for my flower pots or little signs I make for the house. I think you have to be careful where & what you use it for. If I was selling a product I would use oracle. I believe DT vinyl has it's place, just got to know how & where to use it. The glitter place including cricut, etc I understand there is a heavier transfer tape to use.
I had problems with the glitter vinyl as well but all the other vinyl was good for me. Not sure I would use it to make a sign to sell, but I would definitely use it for my personal projects.
I haven’t been able to find any DT vinyl yet. I figured if anything, I would just use it for some of my own projects. The mug came out cute and I can’t wait to hear how it holds up.
The glitter vinyl needs strong transfer tape even in cricut brand, also not supposed to put anything over glitter vinyl but glitter vinyl can go over regular vinyl.
I was wondering what settings did you use to cut your vinyl? It's because I just bought some vinyl yesterday and I tried cutting my name, but it didn't want to cut. So I tried something like a simple circle and it still wasn't cutting :(
I just bought 3 rolls of glitter vinyl (Gold, rose gold & silver) have not tried using them yet, but now a little nervous too....lol Can't wait to see how your mug holds up!
I bought some today and cut the simplest design. I wouldn't waste money on the glitter. Havent tried any other. But it tears just like regular paper, before even being cut.
I didn’t wanna mess with the glitter cause of what I heard from other people. I bought some patterns. I figured it they do suck we can always cut a basic shape like a heart and use it for stickers on envelopes/packaging.
I'm trying to make signs with it but it doesn't stay like other vinyls. I noticed you put a clear plastic over it so you could stick it to the mug. What was it? I need to make yard signs and I don't feel like pilling and sticking each letter at a time. Not sure how old is this video but it would be nice is you or someone can let me know. I though it was a great bargain but I feel a bit crippled. thanks
Pretty sure I said it somewhere, but just the regular adhesive vinyl settings that you use with your cutting machine. Every machine is different, although mine was blade of 2, force of 15.
Just bought all the colors of glitter vinyl from dollar tree and it doesnt work well with small details but large ones it was ok and i gad the problem with the transfer tape. It wouldnt stick to it so that blows.
Hi Sallie! Thanks for showing us the quality of the DT vinyl. I'm kinda new to all of this but I heard you can't apply vinyl onto glitter vinyl. I thought you had to slice out the svg? Your thoughts? 🤔
I saw someone use the washi setting and they still had some difficulty with it cutting through the carrier sheet, so they created a custom cut setting on the Cricut using the minimum pressure, which I believe was 75. Good luck!
Whew! That weeding and transferring stressed me out. I have short patience so I think it would be better for me to not try it out. lol Love my Starcraft HD vinyl!!
can someone tell me if i can use this paper without the machine? i dont have machine just bought this paper to do simple projects that dont require machine
Absolutely! The cutting machine does just that, it cuts. It works well for intricate shapes, but you can take a regular pair of scissors or an Xacto blade to it and cut it yourself.
@@sarahlima2987 thank you for the info i apretiate it. also if you ever do a vid for projects like that without mcahine ill make sure to watch it to get some pointers as well
I bought all the colors available in my store I was so happy to find them, unfortunately when I cut them and applied them in the surface It was so hard specially with the hologram paper . I changed the settings but to be honest I don’t like it . Probably for practice or for testing your sanity are good lol . Thanks for the video
I’ve been using DT vinyl & I haven’t had any issues. I put settings on window cling. Perfect!!
Great info. Please what do you choose your carriage 1 and speed, force, pass and blade depth. Thanks
I had trouble with a matte glitter vinyl (not dollar tree) not wanting to stick to contact paper or Cricut transfer paper so I used clear packaging tape and it worked great!!
The dollar store had contact paper in the Crafters Square brand and its amazing!!
The silver glitter vinyl has held up for me on a few hydroflask bottles and the holographic on a wine glass.
Hi Sallie I have used the dollar tree glitter in making designs to make Christmas cards with. I works nicely on card stock. I also had a hard time getting it to stick to transfer paper.
I tried the vinyl after watching your video and …. no luck …. gonna give it to my nieces lol they’ll love it!
I have had the hardest time with the glitter vinyls!!! Glad I’m not the only one. Lol
i always use masking tape for glitter vinyls, seems to work much better than regular transfer tape
Your so amazing glad I saw this comment you saved me from so much headache I already wasted so much dollar tree glitter vinyk
I finally came across the DT vinyl last week - picked up a few glitter ones to try out too. Used the black vinyl on a couple of porch leaners I designed for Halloween and so far so good.
We are doing a art birthday themed party for my soon to be eight year old and I was thinking of getting that vinyl for them to play with.

Dollar store contact paper in the Crafters Corner brand is amazing! Best stuff I've used!
I just bought 10 different colors and was wondering if I wasted my money, but just had to get it. Thanks for the demo.
"For my SANITY!!" 🤣🤣 Love this Sallie! And I will try the product after you share if it holds up for at least a day. 👌 #savedbyStarcraft
I was able to find a few of the solid colors. Only used the yellow so far and it is under some resin but need to test it out on cups
I was thinking of doing Christmas gift cups would this kind of vynil be okay if sealed with something or would you not recommend it.
Thank you for this video. I had a hard time with the purple glitter paper.
I found that to get the glitter one to stick to transfer tape I had to use the strong strength transfer tape that is made specifically for glitter.
Hi, what setting and knife did you use on crucit? Ty
Nice job.. But what were your cut settings?
Yes I purchased and super excited !
What were your cut settings for the DT vinyl please? I've found some, however I cut through the backing paper.

I'm new at this , just purchased my cricut. The dollar store final was not my friend. I did purchase some from Amazon super cheap and loved it
you have to use the dollar tree transfer tape for glitter but i love the cup design

Just bought some dollar tree vinyl, the leopard print is my fave ! So far !
what were your Blade Settings?
i almost bought some of that this week. Glade I found your you tube. Wonder how it will last going through the dishwasher.
The solid color held up- the glitter did not!
Watching you weed that dollar tree vinyl had me stressed too 😆
🤣🤣🤣 no Bueno
What settings should be used on the Cricut joy? The TH-cam search tool assures me you know.
I had problems with the glitter vinyl as well but all the other vinyl was good for me. Not sure I would use it to make a sign to sell, but I would definitely use it for my personal projects.
I got the transfer tape-it seemed to work as well as any other transfer vinyl.
How'd you use yours? The adhesive came off on my vinyl
I haven’t been able to find any DT vinyl yet. I figured if anything, I would just use it for some of my own projects. The mug came out cute and I can’t wait to hear how it holds up.
Wow -you guys get so much good stuff at your dollar stores! I’m in Vancouver Canada and I haven’t found this yet.
I feel like ours never has anything, so I was pleasantly surprised to find the vinyl!
Thanks for sharing. 1at timer. I’ve purchased the vinyl but so hesitant to use it Found you while researching.
Did the glitter hold up on the mug? Did the normal? I can’t seem to find the update on the mug!
The glitter did not hold up, the regular, non glitter vinyl did do well though!
I have hard problems with the glitter ones. Cuts all way through it. I tried so many cutting pressure
The glitter vinyl needs strong transfer tape even in cricut brand, also not supposed to put anything over glitter vinyl but glitter vinyl can go over regular vinyl.
What setting did you use for the pink glitter vinyl? I have tried several and it tears it up instead of cutting
Glad to see you back at the craft table after your tree cutting experience 😆. I would never have the guts to do that!
It was definitely an experience and I'm glad it's over 🤣

What setting on the circuit do you cut on with crafter closet

Yes definitely! Simple cuts would be perfect for this 👌
the dollar trees in Delaware aren't stocked well. I'll have to check for the vinyl.
I'm trying to make signs with it but it doesn't stay like other vinyls. I noticed you put a clear plastic over it so you could stick it to the mug. What was it? did you seal the design?
Yes I will try that I just bought me a Cricut yesterday
Did the vinyl stay on the mug?!?!?!
Im hoping for an update it's been a while
I would use the mug to hold my pens or paint brushes etc. Not really drink from it to avoid washing with water. Tfs
Dishwasher safe mod podge could be an option to finish it.
Would have helped if you said what settings you used
Pretty sure I said it somewhere, but just the regular adhesive vinyl settings that you use with your cutting machine. Every machine is different, although mine was blade of 2, force of 15.
Wow I saw a ton at mine but it was like 3 weeks ago. I should have bought some. I was going to go back but I bet it won’t be there.
what setting did u cut the pink glitter vinyl?
How long did it last?
What was the settings you cut this on?
Is the dollar tree vinyl dishwasher safe?
Where did you get the roller?
What settings did you use ? I keep cutting through mine
Try the sticker setting. :)

I'm thinking this was vinyl for shirts lol my hubby brought this home for us to use. I knew something was wrong because the backing was different

I tried regular vinyl from them it's super thin ,and didn't cut very well

If you look on the transfer paper it says not to use it with the glitter paper and a couple others... It's a bummer :/
Reminds me of paper mate from hobby lobby
How did it do with being hand-washed?
The regular vinyl, good! Glitter no good lol
I maybe look at my dollar tree see if they have it
Did she ever post the update?
I'm wondering the exact same thing
Might work better on metal die cuts
Didnt cut to well on my cricut
You could wdap i vift with that paper
The backing material is the main downfall I found using the Dollar Tree brand. Using packing tape or strong stick transfer tape is definitely helpful.

I'm trying to figure out if you use glossy or matte colored vinyl?
are all these permanent vinyl dish washer friendly?
I wouldn't wash any brand vinyl in the dishwasher-usually causes vinyl to loosen or mess up. I would hand wash only 😊
With tax it comes to about .27 per foot - Oracal 651 (in a bolt) is about .40 a foot.
Very nice
