It’s nice people are finally acknowledging his contributions to comics as a whole instead of just one singular person who created Marvel. Kirby and Ditko, both important figures to the medium!

Perfect timing. One of the oldest and long enduring super heroes ever, even before Marvel got its brand name. While Cap may not be the founding member of the Avengers, he is the MAIN Avenger. A reasonable leader in battle, Rogers fights not just for his own country of his namesake, but for everyone in the name of freedom and justice. Once you hear his classic and awesome theme coming into play, MvC1 especially, that feeling of motivation kicks in at full throttle and never helds back! Happy 4th of July, and.... "Thumbs up, soldier!"
@@TheSeventhForce I listened to the MSHvSF version religiously so hearing how intense the MVC version was (I tend to listen to the MVC1 tracks the least) was mind boggling. Great game but I never quite clicked enough with any of the characters.
Probably just me looking too deep into it, but Cap's stage in MSH reminds me of Kamandi: The Last Boy on Earth, another one of Kirby's creations set in a dystopian future with anthropomorphic animal people ruling the Earth.
They added to the roster Shuma-Gorath, who had like 3 minor appearances in the 70s/80s in Dr. Strange. The Capcom team went DEEP for this game, wouldn't shock me if it ended up being an intentional reference.
Absolutely I love how Capcom translated this patriotic hero into a very solid fighter with a shield! They just made him such a cool character to play with! I also give cap some credit for being the only guy to believe in the Hulk; no matter what's thrown at him!
The best thing about Cap is his assist callout in UMVC3. It always cuts off when the assist comes out, so you'll hear "I NEED EYE OF AGAMATO" or something similar and it's hysterical

There was even a Ninja Turtles comic that was a tribute to Jack Kirby. That was later adapted into an episode of 2003 Ninja Turtles cartoon. There also was an episode of 90s Superman the Animated Series dedicated to Jack Kirby.
Like with most Marvel heroes, MvC is what introduced me to the Cap, and I always have fun playing as him. I also always felt that Cap and Megaman or X would be really good friends, and I LOVE that they went with that angle in MvCI. Also, it's funny, I don't think of Captain America's theme in the MvC games as his theme as much as I just think of it as the theme to MvC as a whole! The song really is THAT good!
I like your vs series of videos . They are so informative , not to mention the nod to one of the kings of comics , jack Kirby , is definitely worth giving respect to. Can’t wait for more. I do hope morrigan and the other Darkstalker characters get their time in the limelight too down the line since they have a hard time getting that aside from the crossover games.
Appreciate that Cap's new moves in Infinite were all tools that would have helped him a lot in UMVC3 without dramatically changing him (overhead kick, high risk comboable counter, slow arcing shield slash for setups).

To this day I think Captain America’s theme is the definite anthem of MURICA!! Although MVC1 did a massive theme for CA but I personally like CA’s MSHVSF cuz of how down to the wire it became. This video is so I’m really excited to see another character like Strider Hiryu, Hulk, or any other crossover character

Also big kudos for pointing out the return of bucky barnes and jason todd from DC comics was the same year. Just amazing how these two broke out in their own characters long past their deaths.
A run that I feel you should've mentioned is steve englehart's, whilst alot of it is addressing the at the time current political scandals of the 1970s there's alot of fundamental stuff here like falcon's development as a character, the original secret empire saga and the nomad storyline also jim steranko's very short but extremely influential run

The Fighting Game Historian continuing to deliver bangers as usual. I still remember the first Captain America comics I read. It was in the Marvel Essential books. Black and White, but the art was so good. I was accustomed to reading Manga, so it didn't bother me too much. His classic stories are great.
"Insert "I need Backup" reference here" Cap's pretty neat I'd say, his theme is obviously a banger, and I did actually enjoy playing as him when I was going for his MVC3 ending, maybe I should try playing him more when the collection comes out, he probably has some of the best alts in MVC3 as well. I'd also like to highlight one specific line in Earths Mightiest Heroes, cause it's definitely my favorite moment from Steve. "You think I'm fighting for me? to save my own life? I'm not fighting for me, I'm fighting for them; And that's something you'll never understand machine! it's the very thing that makes us human" that one scene, mostly the dialog has stuck with me since I first saw it, one of the best scenes from that entire show imho, and seeing it again with Vision using it to break the Purple Man's mind control was great too. (I still have no idea who that guy is, I've never seen him outside of that one episode of the show) I'm also kinda wondering how different U.S.Agent could be if he would be added to the roster now.
Purple Man I believe is an old Daredevil Villain. I believe he was in an episode of X-Men Tas season 5 with the orphans. He was the main villain in that horrible Jessica Drew show for season 1, and the only comic I have him was New Avengers #1. He shows up arrogantly telling Luke Cage to do something horrible, but he has an inhibitor color on and gets his ass kicked.

If I were to redo final justice for the next game, it would basically be the scene where cap pummels thanos with mjolnir and his shield. He would end it with a jolt of tunder from the sky.
It took me all these years to realize this, but half of the stages on this game, including Captain America's, take place after Thanos's snap. Which is why some stages are devastated or abandoned (like Hulk's)
I will say back when I played Marvel 3 alot I had so many damn character crisis but the one of the like three or four characters I would always go back to was Captain America, I always loved his simple style, cool combo routes and the way he controlled neutral. This video was an extremely fun watch and yes his theme in marvel 1 is the best.

I'd say Hulk was known way more for being his own thing than being an Avenger. Cap was basically *_the_* Avenger even non comic book readers knew before the mid 2000s.

Your videos always really highlight how many little things Infinite gets wrong compared to 3. Designs, dialogue writing, voice direction, music, even the hitstun noises being this harsh metallic sound. It's something that should be studied I think, it's impressively thorough in how it downgraded just about everything. I don't know if it's worse-looking than Avengers In Galactic Storm, but I'll leave that one out on a technicality due to not being Capcom. I'd probably have more fun playing Galactic Storm if not for Sigma/Nemesis too.
I'd say, at least in this instance, they might've considered being honored by the president perhaps too political of a situation. Cap himself has become far less overtly patriotic and more representative of America's ideals rather than its government. Perhaps Capcom thought this was better in keeping with that interpretation of the character.

I don't know if it's worse-looking than Avengers In Galactic Storm, but I'll leave that one out on a technicality due to not being Capcom. I'd probably have more fun playing Galactic Storm if not for Sigma/Nemesis too.
Honestly Caps vanilla ending was way better than ultimate. Not sure why they downgraded some of them
I'd say, at least in this instance, they might've considered being honored by the president perhaps too political of a situation. Cap himself has become far less overtly patriotic and more representative of America's ideals rather than its government. Perhaps Capcom thought this was better in keeping with that interpretation of the character.
