  • David Chadderton Sr. of Beacon Falls, CT wasn't looking for a project when he bought a 1967 Ford Galaxie 500 some 16 years ago. He just wanted the motor. But, instead, he decided to restore it.

    I think that the 1967 Galaxie 500, especially the two door hardtop like this is about the best looking full size Ford of the 60’s. I remember seeing one at the local dealer back in the fall of 1966 during the model introduction. As a 10 year old I fell in love with it and still think the design is pure art!

    My dad passed away in Dec 2022 at only 50 years old. He had a gorgeous green '67 Galaxie 500. This is one of my favourite cars, ever, and it warms my heart to no end to see other people appreciate its beauty too. I tear up just seeing this car. He always asked me if I would take care of it when he died. Absolutely, Dad. Absolutely.

      Man this is crazy but my dad passed away in April of 2023 at 52. He passed down his green 67 galaxie 500 to me and I feel so close to him every time I crank it up. Beautiful beautiful car, in a lot of ways the 67s remind me of the 66-67 GTO’s. Thanks for sharing!

    I was going to buy a 67 Galaxie fastback years ago. I lve the appearance. I had a neighbor with a 67 convertible, but really loved the fastback. The seller told me the frame was bad. I didn't believe him because the body still looked decent. I took it for a test drive and it felt a little loose. I took to the shop i worked at, put it on the hoist and the body flexed so much the passenger door popped open! The entire bottom portion of the boxed frame was rotted away! It was more of a c- channel. I didn't buy it, but i really liked that car, just more than i wanted to get involved with.

    I had a 1967 that had been passed down through the family since new. The motor and transmission has never been rebuilt. Only trouble with the car was when gasoline dropped in octane and no lead gas was only option. Then had to get octane boost and lead substitute. I finally had to get rid of the car(still have motor and transmission) because apparently it came with the one option, no ford owner wants. Fords automatic reverse!!! When you leave the car running,(without the parking brake on), the car automatically shifts into reverse and finds the nearest telephone pole! The frame was straightened after this one, and 2 more accidents before I got it. One day, with over 200,000 miles, the frame broke. Moved up to a 1977 wagon!

    I had a Galaxy 500 just like yours. Same color except a smaller v8, duel exhaust with cherry bomb mufflers. Also 3 on the tree and overdrive. Wish I had a picture of it but yours looks just like it. I would take it to the lake and wax it in the shade. It polished up great. Being stupid I traded it off. :0(

    Thank you my first new car was a 1967 ford Galaxy fast back 500 with a 390. Best car I ever owned. My wife and I separated 5 years after I drought it and she sold it to her sister who also had the car for a number of years. Loved the lines and it was one of the best built cars ford made. Engine was a dream power when you needed it and yet still good on gas. Only thing that got me was the fact that all the 390's had a lifter that would click in it.

    In the late 70s I had a 1965 Galaxy 500 Custom with a bench seat in the front. My friend said it was like driving around in your front room. It was a real gas hog thought the engine was good and there was no rust to speak of. I sold it to some girl so I could buy a Datsun pick up from a friend. Those were the days.

    • @hawgryder13
      @hawgryder13 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@roymcgaw7431 It seems to me it was a custom but it didn't have a lot of extras. It was a 4 door, had a bench seat in the front, AM radio, and air vents (that closed, of course). Don't remember the color but it was a nice smooth ride and when you pushed the pedal to the metal and took off like a rocket.

      @@hawgryder13 A Custom, or a Custom 500, would seem to fit your description. Neither was terribly opulent. Galaxie 500 and Galaxie 500 XL were another kettle of fish, entirely.

    And it's got a great big block even bigger now powering that bad boy.
    And a nice 63 vette in a little shoe box Chevy to boot some fun toys to play with best part they're not trailer Queens he drives them all to congratulations.

    The only thing I take issue with is the wagon wheels. If I were to buy this car from the owner, the first thing I'd do is replace those wheels with 15 inch steelies or period-correct Frank Bullitt-type mags and compatible tires. Otherwise, the car looks sweet.
