Roger O. Geiger of Torrington, CT bought his 1958 Mercury Monterey sight unseen from a seller in Denver and it arrived damage and missing parts. He's spruced it up, though, into a black and red beauty.
Finishing Touches Embellish 1955 Studebaker Pickup

Val and Leslie Caron of Bantam, CT were visiting their son in California in 2012 when he showed them a 1955 Studebaker E-series pickup. Within months, it was in CT undergoing a 25-month restoration process. The finished product is seen in this story from the RIDE-CT archives that was done in November 2017.

The Stew Leonard 's Newington Car Show filled the parking lot outside the store on Sunday. So many cars showed up that some weren't allowed to enter the inaugural show. RIDE-CT found a couple of interesting if modest models - a 1961 Comet and a 1959 Fiat 600 - and talked with their owners as well as with the show's organizing club, the Over the Hill Gang.

Leigh Broderick of Oxford, CT owns three old Ford models - a 1939 convertible sedan, a 1940 woody station wagon and a 1941 pickup. There's also a 1977 Porsche 911S Targa in his driveway. It's the '39 ragtop that only cost him $1 when he was 16 years old that's dear to his hear. He shares memories of the car with RIDE-CT that provide the reason(s) why.

Wow! Does it really matter for a knock-about truck that's now 96 years old? The fact that it's still running and being used should be celebrated.
@@ride-ct-classiccars I love and appreciate old and original, most definitely something to be proud of. Yes I agree that it should be celebrated for being able to still be running and used after 96 years, but its nicer to see the whole original vehicle going down the road, and with the fenders off, its like pulling the wings off a butterfly , sure it still can walk with out its wings, but it would look like hell and would not be as beautiful without its wings. So if you have all the parts why not use them?

The owner is a real enthusiast when it comes to gas station memorabilia.
My grandad had a Studebaker truck. It was a 1.5 ton farm truck. It still sits rusty on a Kansas farm.

@@ride-ct-classiccars it probably is by now. I’m in Florida, and can’t do anything about it. I sure liked that truck. The last time I saw it run I was a teenager. I did get to drive grandads 1963 Lark Criuser for a couple of years.

It's a familiar sight at car shows.
I noticed it had 2 gas filters when they showed the engine.Was just curious why there were 2?
Just spoke with the owner. He says he's "playing it safe" because the car has its original gas tank. Wants to make sure any dirt, etc. get caught.
That is why you gotta be extra careful sometimes nowadays when you’re going to buy a car unseen because people are gonna punk you for it.

This guys voice is straight out of Motor Week. Same inflections - which is weird but kind of groovy at the same time. I guess that's just the style of voice when talking retro cars?

Prettiest one of these classics I saw back in the late 70's in a Hot Rod magazine [cant remember which one]. It was a fantastic paint job that went from an "orangy-yellow" at the front of the car and perfectly blended to an "orangy-red" at the rear. It was both stunning and flawless. But thats not what got my then teenage heart aflutter... on top of the 351 he had a polished dual quad tunnel ram intake sticking up out of the back deck, high enough that it had a reversed Hillborn style aluminum air scoop that was above the roof line. Add in a set of wipe meats on the rear and it to me was a perfect mix of "Pantera meets Pomona" . I wish I still had a copy of those photos, it was almost perfection in my eyes. I knew I'd never be able to own such a creature, that was for sure.

I have a 1960. Everything on the dash has to be backwards in order for it to appear correctly in the mirror. The other cool thing is that other dial on the dash. You turn the dial to 60 and if you exceed that speed a buzzer will go off. Pre cruise control innovation

My dad had a black on black ‘67 Eldo. 67 was a great year with the Riviera and the Cougar.

Maybe I need to do a story on old models that still look new. Was talking with the owner of a Buick Reatta about that idea at a car cruise on Monday night.
Not to correct the owner of this great car, but the 5-speed transaxle is actually from the German company ZF which was a version of the ZF 5 DS 25 used in the GT40.
