This animation/animatic is a visual recreation of Vinny Vinesauce's journey through the Infinite IKEA SCP in AI Dungeon. Felt like it was a story to be retold with some goofy doodles and an overabundance of references. No seriously, I added way more Vinesauce references in this than I needed to.
Quick Q&A:
Q: Why is it in black and white?
A: For convenience and time management. If it were to be fully colored, it would take longer to make.
Q: What's AI Dungeon?
A: Taken from the AI Dungeon site itself: "AI Dungeon generates the story and results of your actions as you play in this virtual world."
Q: Why does Vinny sound choppy at times?
A: When Vinny types responses, he speaks as he types the words. I trimmed out gaps in his sentences to fit the animation and movement of the project better.
Q: Why is the animation choppy/ why isn't everything smoothly animated?
A: Convenience and less-time consuming. Also I debated on calling this video an animation, but at the same time, it doesn't exactly fit the criteria of being an animatic.
Q: When will you wear wigs?
A: (Unintelligible laughter)

I'd like to imagine this entire adventure is just Vinny hallucinating as he hitchhikes across Virginia in search of an IKEA.
I haven't seen the OG version but it was funny recognizing the cities and towns in my home state, even if if Lexington is west of Richmond and only slightly north so you technically can't travel truly 'south' to get to Richmond. That and there's no ikea in Williamsburg.

Bruh I thought there weren't ikeas and it turns out I just got to work at the shipyard and there's an ikea not to far away
I think I wasn't 100% paying attention during the original stream, because I could only remember Calvin and the very last line off the top of my head (then again, it's been a while since the original stream), so this video is probably the first time I've genuinely seen the full extent of how off-the-wall the IKEA story was. This animatic perfectly captures the disjointed chaos of it all.
wasn't there something with a brother with shotguns and an alien invasion at ikea or am i thinking of some other stream?

More things like this need to exist, but sadly Animation (and by extension, Animatics) take too much time and effort for many talented artists to strap in for something this big.
This is masterfully done, I can't commend you for a feat like this enough.
thank you!! it was initially 4 minutes, but there were too many details in the story too good to leave out, so it ended up as 10 minutes, taking around 6 months. nonetheless, it was a fun project and i'll likely make another 10 min animatic/animation like this some day. but for now, i'll probably focus on shorter moments lol
I feel the need to clarify: I meant many artist don't have the time of day to do this AND get money to pay for their life, Not that artists are too lazy to strap into a big project. Apologies.

@Ik you mean comission drawings and patreon? :P i get what ya mean though, kinda like how people buy animation cels and film negatives. trouble is it sounds a bit NFT-like since it's digital - or do you mean you get a copy of the project files for that frame only? i.e. all the layers for shading/colouring/background/etc. (depending on what you buy) cos tbh GIMME ALL THE SMEAR FRAMES SO I CAN PLUG 'EM INTO ESOTERIC SPINE
@@HomeByMidnight nobody sayin you can't do both! short projects to keep your skills sharp, long projects to obtain new skills and hone them. like, a 1 second 60fps loop a week + storyboard a big project > turn the storyboard sketches into actual keyframes > 12fps onion skinning to fill the gaps of 1 storyboard scene per week + storyboard of next project starts. gives you a nice mix of workflows available depending on your mood to bounce around between.
don't forget, you can get away with 6 fps if you use interpolation, anticipation, and smears ;) there's only a few key mouth shapes for speech too, so you could save time by just making a library of pre-made mouths á la south park/newgrounds/sealab 2021
you mjght be wonderin where scriptin comes in? well you're watching the streams so just take notes as you watch them for keyframes, maybe there's a browser plugin to make timestamps from the click of a button? trouble then is taking your pc into the bathroom instead of your phone, hmm...
either way keep up the good work chuck! but most importantly have fun doing it! and put vinny to shame by joining his next garlic phone stream! merry xmas
The tiny detail of "one window (can NOT come separate)" as a joke on Drebin's ostenisble goal of finding windows is a wonderful little touch

This was so great! The AI Dungeon streams were a lot of fun, but this one was one of my absolute favorites, and all the little visual gags you added made it even better!! Also congrats, 'cause I'm sure this had to have taken forever, but it was well worth all the time and effort.

This video popped up in my recommended and I thought for sure I was seeing things wrong because surely even the mad lads in the Vinesauce community aren't insane enough to make an 11 MINUTE animatic. But no. You did it and it's great! Perfectly captures the madness of the bit, I now feel the need to go to IKEA and/or hell.

I honestly think the AI Dungeon devs need to see all these animations of people playing the game, they’d get a kick out of it.

Catching up on my Vinesauce backlog from the years I was absent, this story is amazing. I've only recently hit upon any of the "AI Dungeon" things which were past my time, but I've enjoyed them so much. This video, doubly-so. Great job! Sorry I'm so late.
