"...Luma Corp is always by your side"- Luma Corp official. Isn't that Orwellian?
Sad, what happened to Edmond. Was that a painting of his wife?
What an interesting, albeit, weird concept.

Found this channel by watching some of the previous videos. I hope we don’t go this route but we need to change to. @@TheNobodyZone That is a literary motif, yes, exemplified by "The Lady Or The Tiger" which most of us are familiar with, but in the current film world what is far more often seen is the less noble "proof of concept" film, wgich is merely an incomplete story produced for the sole purpose of atrempting to procure funds for a full-length complete work. These short audiovisual pitches often look fantastic and thus people think they want to see them, but they are *not* completed works and the odds are slim that they ever will be, so the best way to describe them will always be "a disappointment',

My son is on the autism spectrum. This story touches strong with me. The world wants him to be something that he isn't. I'm ashamed to say that sometimes I've wished that too. But he a color, a rhythm, a path that's different from others. It's beautiful and scary to me all at once. This story reminds me not to stomp out that color. He is, and will always be, my beautiful baby boy! I love you, Clive.

It in a way reminds me of Equilibrium (which I find to be a quite underrated movie), but instead of feelings it's colors. But colors, especially in art, are so evocative that I could see the lack of it felt so strongly. As an artist myself I'd feel incredibly bereft and that scene with the painter holding the desaturated picture is so heartbreaking. I would've loved to see a whole movie about this and the character development of Dan and his journey forward. Probably one of my favorite shorts in quite a while!

One of these times where you think "wow this is really an idea that I haven't seen before". That colorless future was something new.
Only mistake is revealed at the end, by the movie itself, but doesn't really change the verdict about the movie. The painter could pay with the color of his blood.

A unique take on the "usual" story of authoritarian corporatocracy, expressed via the lumen-industrial complex. Remarkably well done into a 15 min short. It seems I may have seen this before, many months ago, but that's OK, doesn't detract from the quality of the production. Somewhat reminds me of the film "Equilibrium", only there it was the enforced suppression of passion and emotion. Harvesting color for energy . . . definitely a different avenue, this could have been made into a feature length film or a series.

Excellent story - excellently told and perfectly enacted. Jackson Miller's choice of ending is...mature. There are things you can't live with and a person can be driven to no longer care about "self-preservation" that in fact is nothing of the sort. THIS truth has been faced, confronted and died for throughout history. Do you work to live or live to work? Do rules and laws serve you, or are you their slave? Question everything. Well done, worth re-watching and passing along - esp. to the very young.

As a colorblind person, it took me a while for this to really register. I mean, I can see colors but have a hard time telling what they are; therefore, I tend to not differentiate various cues based on color. Generally, I ignore colors since I can’t trust (or, rather, can’t be trusted) what they’re supposed to represent - you know, like a stoplight. In that case, I have to rely on the lights’ position. Anyway, once it dawned on me how Cold War Soviet Union the scenes looked, I had to start over. Interesting concept that I took more seriously after seeing the girl killed about…color.

Great story. If our future is truly going to be like this then humanity should perish from the earth. Who would want to live in a world with no beauty. A completely grey world? Our future looks bleak!

For a scifi plot to work one must use a subject that creates suspension of disbelief in the viewer. Sadly, for me at least, the idea that color can be extracted from something without physically altering/destroying it in the process would have been a difficult concept to swallow, but at least the concept of bleaching exists an so is usable; however, the idea that color can be removed to turn into energy is jumping the shark. The color of objects comes from their reflection of light they don't absorb. To remove their color would mean either adding something to block the color the object absorbs, or removing the reflective pigments which would result in the object turning black as it absorbed all light energy. Neither option is really believable enough to suspend my disbelief as both would have the opposite effect. The energy we're talking about in both situations would be solar related. So if color absorption was the goal then it should have focused on extracting all of the light it self casting the world into darkness; however, disregarding the plot, the fundamental production quality and acting was very good.

My ability to suspend disbelief extends to energy from color. What trips me is the illogic of not desaturating people.

    • @-_James_-

Indeed. It's a monumentally ridiculous premise. If you needed more colour you could just extract red blood cells from all living creatures and grow lots of flowers.
