    More About "Ikarus":
    Teenage scavengers, Queen and her older brother, Birdie, are on their usual hustle of hunting down cargo drones. However, unbeknownst to Birdie, Queen has navigated the pair onto new paths, with the hopes of landing the ultimate payload, Nano-biotics. Queen’s plans go awry when her home-made honing device accidentally sounds, attracting unwanted attention. The siblings narrowly escape capture but, during the chaos, Birdie is shot in the stomach. With Birdie unconscious and consumed by a high fever, Queen must now attempt to hunt these very Nano-biotics on her own, if she’s to save her brother’s life.

    This is the strangest thing I have found about ALL films or TV shows. When the leading Det. or someone equivalent enters the interview room, they always carry their sidearm. That NEVER HAPPENS. In fact, you need to check in your sidearm as soon as you enter the building. Watch or rewatch some films or TV shows and look for it. It's insanity to think this really happens.

    Very well done. The CGI was superb. Though it flows more like a trailer or teaser for a larger movie. There is certainly the source material for a bigger project. The three most claring inconsistencies are the prisoner being left armed with a knife, the interrogator taking her sidearm into the interrogation room and the inappropriate crying when she finds the bionanites followed by the nonchalant stroll away from the crash scene when she should be frantically trying to get away as fast as possible to avoid capture and save her brother.

    Nicely done! 👍
    Three comments though:
    She runs around with a backpack with the weapon. When she assembles it, she struggles under the weight. Then disassembles it and easily runs around with it again. That weapon can change its weight massively! :)
    The hooded figure in the interrogation room was too obviously not shown, and we haven't heard a sound. In a place where you are supposed to be searched and stripped. Twenty seconds into the film, and it was already obvious that the figure will not be what the presented assumption is.
    Officers do not bring weapons into interrogation rooms.
    All in all, I see a great potential in this team, you just need to hone your script a bit.

    • @WickedPrince3D
      @WickedPrince3D 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Officers on our Earth generally don't bring weapons into interrogation rooms; but we don't know for sure this is our Earth. Most likely it is, but we're shown that the date is 2220 at one point and we don't know where this takes place. Maybe the rules are different? But I agree that assuming that you are interrogating somebody without bothering to check who they are is darned lazy. And I agree that her running around with a backpack of random objects and showing no signs of their weight was a bit off. Of course the weapon was very lopsided when put together so maybe that explains it.

    • @osbourne2811
      @osbourne2811 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I agree, overall it was a good clip. I liked it. One little thing though that irritates me every time i see it in movies or clips like this. After entering the craft after bringing it down, she goes inside and scans the crates. She identifies the crate, opens it, and realizes she finally got what she wanted...THEN...she putts around examining the contents, wasting time, you could predict exactly what was going to happen. Who does that? Get what you came for and run!, you know someone is not far away and you don't want to be there when they arrive.

    Looks like a bleak future for some willing to risk their lives, while others enjoy a better program, only the ambitious get to move up or the dead become free. Lighting, or lack, thereof, sometimes employed for technical reasons, eg, budget didn't run to convincing prosthetics, make up, clothing, weaponry, machinery, architecture, etc, or because, as in the case of cosmic horror, the intention is to hint, rather than fully reveal, so being less able to be discerned draws less criticism.
      Considering many shorts are on a punishing budget, I find this understandable, so forgive them, but in big budget films it actually enrages me, as it's usually lazy technique and nothing else.

    That was, as a number of others have written, an excellent and enthralling trailer to what feels like a more encompassing story. As to a couple of the 'disconnects' that others have pointed out; I agree that the prevailing authority has such little regard for "the commoners" (as the interrogator put it toward the end) that they didn't bother to check the one being interrogated for weapons, and, in the same spirit, didn't see any reason to bother with (current-day) protocols of not carrying a weapon into an interrogation room. I got the impression that that was meant to convey a certain arrogance, noting that the interrogator avoided looking at the one being interrogated while from the outset sporting a weapon and neatly positioning the torture-cum-compliance device on the table. As far as the seeming disconnect with regard to the disassembled weapon being carried by the sister sibling which she indeed did carry with little sign of stress while on her back but was taxed by its weight when fully assembled and held in her arms, I didn't find that contradictory. I know from personal experience that, if one has a strong back, then it's far easier to carry weight on your back than it is in your arms. Different muscles being used; different weight distribution. I wish I could explain what I mean better but it's late and I'm tired and thanks so much for the short film. It was horrifying as a glimpse into a possible future, but very well done.

    Please make full length movies! It's so good, but way too short. Give us 2 hrs of this awesomeness, or a season of one hour episodes times ten or more per season. Your talents are wasted on shorts. Other than too short, ten out of ten, fantastic job

    • @billyandrew
      @billyandrew 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      *Dust* is not a film studio.
      Think of it more as a dedicated film channel on your TV focusing solely on short films.
      Independent film makers submit their work and *DUST* considers them, then screens the ones they think will appeal to their audience/subscribers.
      Short films give film makers the opportunity to gain experience within their craft or show proof of concept, in order to raise interest and financial backing for bigger projects.
      Full length movies are expensive and, unless pirated, would cost the channel, who could not afford it, unless they began to charge the viewer.

      @jasonburguess 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@billyandrew if you can shoot 10 minutes of film, you can shoot 120minutes of film, if they made full length films they could sell them to the streaming services and make money not lose it. Netflix, Hulu, etc. Would pay for good movies if they were available, but every movie that comes out now is total shit, send them good stuff and they'd buy it.

    I really like this they should have tv series on these different shows. Top rated. I guess she had an improvised ion cannon. Well it worked at least . I love science fiction and it be fun to be in one.

      Who should have a tv series?
      *DUST* is already doing that, although on the internet, *DUST* being the channel, just as you have on your tv.

      Is it me, my monitor, my eyes or what, but for the most part of the movie, it was nearly impossible for me to see what the actors were doing, or where... a kind of "midnight in the mine" setting.
      That's seemed to happen often in DUST films. Is that intentional or Producer's/Director's choice?
      Makes me reluctant to watch some of the features. :(

    The missle is too lit. Gives away your location to the enemy. But then again, we'd see nothing on the screen if it was that realistic.
    The original Battlestsr Galactica from the 1980s, was like that with the helmets. They lit up to show the actors faces in the cockpit of a Viper.
