- Here is a full in-depth review of my Audi 2012 A5 / S5 3.0 Supercharged V6. How it looks, how it sounds, the interior, the gearbox. Should you buy one?

V8 had lovely sound but a5 2.0T with stage 1 have same performance. It’s kind a sad 😞. This v6t stage 1 pretty faster than V8. Also wanna buy but can’t decide V8 or V6T. Sound or performance. That is hard choice.
I drove the V8 S5 on a test drive back in 2015 and wasn't that impressed, but you're right it sounds pretty good. The V6 S5 doesn't sound that bad. I quite enjoyed the sound when driving it hard. Thanks for the comment :)

Brilliant review mate, probably best on youtube. I'm picking up a 2015 S5 3.0TFSI V6 this saturday, a white black edition like the one you had but a Sportback instead. Moving from a 2012 A5 (3.0tdi V6 font wheel drive) which isn't that exciting to drive.

Hi Sam, thanks for the comment and the kind feedback. It was a great car, well built, very fast and sounded pretty good too! I like to switch cars every year. Keeps me excited for the next one and l like to try different things. Nothing wrong with the car though. If there are any negatives from memory I would say they can be very thirsty when you put your foot down. Other than that a very solid motor and timeless design. Enjoy bud.

Got the car mate, absolutely love it. Just off memory, did you notice a difference between it being in Dynamic mode and just moving the gear shifter into 'S' mode which is sport? Is there a difference?
@@samhancock268 awesome, glad you are loving the car. As I remember I used to mainly pull the great shifter down into S and floor it then. Seemed to pull better.

I’m obsessed with v8 range rovers but need to be a bit more sensible with fuel economy, my current 4.4 petrol drinks fuel for fun.
I prefer larger cars so have been researching A7s, is there much difference size wise between an A7 and an S5?
Thanks for the positive comment John. Yeah a bit difference between the two a7 and s5. A7 feels like much of a better car if you like bigger cars like me. A great all rounder with unique looks. I’m currently in a Range Rover Velar at the moment and loving it, but thinking another Audi next.

@@tonyo6972 yeah the fuel drops very quickly in that car. That super charged engine is very thirsty. At the moment I’m driving a killer 5 litre tuned Mustang. I’m going to post a video on it soon. It’s a total beast!

The sportback I think looks great and real practical. I think if I was to buy this car again I would go sportback, get a stage 1 on it and get all the black external parts like mirrors etc. Thanks for the comment.

Thanks for the vid 👍What MPG do you get if you drive at moderate speed for a journey and what MPG do you get if your putting your foot down on a journey?
Hi Vains, thanks for the comment. On longer journeys when driving at a sensible speed I think it returned around 33mpg at a push. However, when you put your foot down in sports mode it was really thirsty more so than the BMW M4 I have now. I think my average mpg was about 23mpg. Hope that helps.
That’s helped a lot, it’s a hard choice between the Audi S5 which sounds lovely and the BMW 4 series 435D which is faster and does 50mpg
@@RYZAable no problem. If fuel economy is important to you go for the bmw, as you won't be able to drive the S5 how you want due to the thirsty supercharged engine. Before the S5 I had a Audi A7 3.0 diesel which returned over 40mpg and was super quick. So was difficult to adjust at first.

Paul, thanks for the great review. I just wanted to know whether you had any experience/thoughts on the auditory experience (sound of the engine/exhaust is important to me!) between the S5 and the V6 3.0 TFSI A7 (same engine as the S5). Does the S5 exhaust/setup give more pops and crackles since its an S-model and is set up differently? Thanks!
Thanks for the comment. I was pleasantly surprised with the sound. Much better than what I was expecting. It’s not too dramatic but has a nice high pitched sound as well the odd pop on up shifts which I really enjoyed. I’ve actually owned an a7 as well which I loved. Both great cars! Probably overall preferred the A7 as I like bigger cars.
Many thanks for your reply…does the A7 similarly pop and crackle on upshifts? I’d prefer the looks and size of the A7 as well, but if the A7 is just a quiet luxury driving experience I would want the S5 instead
@@gilmo1 I had the 3 litre diesel so had bad sound, but had tons of torque. Just depends on your preference:)
Black roof black mirrors black side skirt black rims and its perfect ^^ a lovely car reviewed in a good video! ( Diffuser is an great idea do it ^^ )
Thanks for the positive comment. Yes I agree with all the black parts and diffuser the appearance can be hugely improved.
If I was to buy this car again I probably would spend the cash and get the black parts.

@@oasdfe1691 I had 0 issues with mine so hard to say. I guess the usual things like full service history I think is important, tread on tires and what are they. I had pirelli P0 on mine and the the grip was immense. Make sure brakes are decent. But again service history is key to ensure it has been looked after over the years. Other than that I think in general they are very solid. Hope it goes well!

Hi there, so I bought it back in mid 2018 with very low miles for about 18k.. This was from a dealer with full audi history. Also they had just put a new set of tyres on so didn't mind paying a slight bit extra. Hope that helps.

Yes, that is a good point. I didn't notice that the first time I got in the car. I also much prefer a darker roof lining in the interior.
@@trouchie wouldn't put me off buying it but I do prefer a black lining just feels more sporty. I'm looking at getting either one of these or a golf r next.
@@tomosjohn230 yes I agree regarding your preference here. It is a great car - very capable just a little bit numb in some areas and not the most exciting, but an overall solid car with a lot of appeal. I switched to an M4 last year and sold this, so that has been an interesting transition.

@@tomosjohn230 yes it was an upgrade I guess. I quite fancied one for a while and thought bite the bullet. I'm going to do a vid on that soon and my thoughts on going from BMW to Audi back to BMW. I do think for the price range of the Audi S5 3.0 B8 it is a winner. The Golf R is meant to be great too, but I've never driven one yet.

Hi Kurt, thanks for the comment. This S5 had a pretty simple radio, CD player and hard drive media library. I never was able to use android auto or apple car play unfortunately. I’m guessing there’s a way you can make it work though.
Look up RSNAV to add it yourself.
I’m looking to get one of these, and this helped a lot but how long have you owned this car? And how is the maintenance on this car? Is it expensive or moderate
Thanks for the comment Cristian. I've had it for a year now. As far as maintenance goes I paid £220 for a regular service last and the car is really solid. By far the most reliable car I've owned. Never had a single issue and very well built. Fuel prices are a bit high if you drive it hard as well. Hope that helps.

The new one i'm not a fan of the lines they r to busy for me im buying the s5 2016 its just a cleaner more simplistic car not busy not boring looking the sex appeal is on point with this car👍
@@malcolml1967 I completely agree with you here. Was looking at both the coupe and sportback of the newest S5 and the design just didn't do it for me. The proportions just seem off especially compared to this model.
Is have a s5 b8.5 sportback, i paid 850 euro for the small service interval and 1500 for continental tires. I pay about 300euro a week, i drive 500km a week
Thought facelift were turbocharged not supercharged
