I've owned an Audi S5 for a year now and can state the things I do not like about my Audi S5 B8 3.0 Black Edition 2012-2017. I hope a lot of the things mentioned can be helpful when choosing to buy an Audi S5. Along with the bad things, there's also a lot that is good about the Audi S5. Replacing White Audi S5 Black Edition Grille for RS5 Grill SWAP B8.5
มุมมอง 25K5 ปีที่แล้ว
I decided to install an Audi RS5 honeycomb grill on my white Audi S5 B8.5 replacing the S5 black edition grille in the process. Take a look at this Audi S5 to RS5 Grille Swap!
Does this work on the bmw m4 m sport 2016 420D ?
Fake RS5. Just buy an RS5 bro.
@@Kaijuus thanks for the comment. This was only temporary when I installed it. If you watch my full reviews you’ll see this was switched for the supercharged badge :)
@@trouchie No problem, happy to comment. But you kept it on TEMPORARILY. While you could have easily taken it off before installation. Seeing how it came out of the box, or swapped it for a S5 badge from your original grille. Or just buy a new one if it doesn't fit the new grille. You want a different grille, good on you. But you don't upgrade an S5 to RS5 after a honeycomb grille change buddy, or ever even with your supercharger. Maybe put an Lamborghini Badge on it. It might turn into an Urus. If you want to badge a car RS5, buy an RS5. Temporarily argument is just BS. You were pretending to be a car that you aren't TEMPORARILY. You are no different than those Japanese ricers. Many people on TH-cam change their grill on their S5 to RS5 style, but they kept the S5 badge. Sigh. Maybe a Japanese car fits your style more. Then you can put VTEC or Type-R stickers and badges all around your car, which is a base model. Same thing as you done here... temporarily. 🤦
Hello from France ! I can’t manage to pull of the connector, even by using my thumb. How did you manage ? It’s so hard to
Hi and thanks for the comment. Yes I remember it being pretty hard to pull out the connectors. I think there’s a little bit you push in when pulling that helps but got to pull hard.
What do the wires do? What happens if you just open the valves and leave the wires on?
the wires close them again.
Access to pull out the connector is so nice on your M4 compared to my F-Pace SVR haha. Nice! Luckily neither of our cars have ECUs looking for valve position feedback!
Thanks for the comment CapnT87. Is the access to the valves on the SVR hard to get at?
@@trouchie You have to unbolt the rear valence to let it drop a bit and then you only have a few minutes to get the job done before the car goes to sleep from accessory mode and valves close themselves haha….unless you do it with the engine running :p. I found your video looking to see if anyone did this on the G80 series - about to order one.
I'm looking to purchase one, I think I'll go for it. Great video 👌
Thanks for the comment. Good luck the purchase if you choose to get one 😀
Does it use more fuel with the valves open in efficient mode or is it just pure exhaust sound
I can’t fully remember but I don’t think it affected fuel. Pretty sure it was just the sound.
I tried it sounds really nice but my car wouldn’t go up to 120 hp when I floor it idk if that’s a problem with my car but when I put the cable back it’s back to normal
Thanks for the comment Atsy. That’s strange regarding not getting up to 120!
Just had both mine programmed at DMS when I was having the tune installed!!👌
Hiii im only seeing this vid now cos recently ive gotten a M4 and i dont want to spend money for a new exhuast , can i go under the car myself an do it or do i need to lift it up? Thanks
Thanks for the comment. Congrats on the M4. Really nice motor! Yes I didn’t jack my car up at all and managed to do this myself on my drive at home.
@Paul Connor thank you I do plan on doing it later, after I disconnect the plugs do I start the car or switch it off an start it again? !! Love your vids
@@sahilnaidoo thanks a lot man. I really can’t remember it’s been quite a few years since I had the M4. Good luck with it buddy :)
why would you up-badge your car to be something that it's not? that's like putting a hellcat logo on a V6 charger, this is cringe.
This is why is the badge came straight off. If you check my next video on this car you will see. I changed it for the supercharged badge.
Does this work on the g80 m3?
I’m not too sure. Never drove one yet. Will be interesting to find out though.
Very cool review. Thank you)
Thanks for the comment Lee!
Absolutely awesome mate, sounds fantastic, am I envious you bet, 😁 yeh the roush is deafening sweet to the ears, love that on my s5, 🤣 got the volume at full blast on my television, cheers bud for the review enjoy,

@@tonyo6972 yeah the fuel drops very quickly in that car. That super charged engine is very thirsty. At the moment I’m driving a killer 5 litre tuned Mustang. I’m going to post a video on it soon. It’s a total beast!
I just coded it to always open 😉
What did you use to code?
@@truhust1az1 MHD but with bimmerlink it should be work too.
@@Rif_Tv_Gaming did you experience a Differnce in fuel economy?
@@josephmina1816 No not really.
Wouldnt this just be the same thing if you just put it in sport plus by a push of a button? Or does this way open it up more then just switching it to sport plus?
The Exhaust will stay "open" at all times. Some people dont want all the power just the exhaust note
Thanks for the comment Julian. So pretty much what RevItRalph has said. I had to push it hard to get some decent sounds in sports mode, but with the mod was louder even at slower speeds as I remember. Thanks.
Sport + actually doesn’t keep the valves open at all times. They only go open all the way at the higher rpms under heavier acceleration
Sport + or M2 burns more fuel if that matters. I love the sound but don't want all that power or having to be at high RPM to hear that sweet sound
Hey… thanks for the awesome tip. It was really easy to do this and now my M4 sounds really nice!
Great stuff Darryl glad you sorted it 😀
Purchased my first S5 Convertible today, facelift model in white like yours 😁🙏
Congrats. Great car and hope you love it. Go drive and enjoy buddy 🙏
Nice ride man! Absolutely Love the white on these cars!
Thanks rig. Yeah lovely cars!
@@trouchie Amazing review, I love this car, I hope you still have it. Im currently looking at a black S5 100,000 km 2015 and this was very informative. Thanks again for the video!!
@@Djay_699 no problem and glad you enjoyed the video!
Hi does this do the same thing by having it in sports or sport plus mode?
Hi Hasan, yeah so I found that only when in sports mode I still had to rev quite high to get a decent sound. With this mod it made it more apparent in eco and lower revs.
Hi, just asking what exactly does unplugging those plugs do to the car?
It just the plugs for the valve. Prevents them from closing
I like to review because you covered a few areas not covered in other reviews. For instance the fact the exhaust note is very loud on the cold start. I do live in a closely knit neighborhood. Lol. I hope the forgiveness my neighbour's have will be enough when I do get one of these. Thank you very much Sir.
Thanks for the comment loveakland. Glad you enjoyed it!
Does it stay open after doing it once or do you have to do this every time you start the car?
Hi Mike, as I remember you just need to do it the once. Hope that helps bud!
Question, does having the values open effect the efficiency of the car? I haven’t noticed a difference myself. Just wanted to check before making them permanently open as I have a 90mile daily commute
hi pal great review. what's the steering feel like
I know this was a year old video but quick question here you put a plastic protection on the connector but how about the terminal of the valve where you pull the plug does it get corroded or maybe get some moisture and eventually getting some rust? Thanks
Thanks for the comment. I’m afraid I’m not sure about this as I only had this mod done for a few months before I plugged them back in and sold the car. Thanks.

I have another problem smoke go out just for one pipe😀 because one valve open another close?
Oh man. That never happened to me and unfortunately I don’t have the car anymore to provide any help. Hope you get it sorted 😀
Absolutely brilliant review Paul, thank you! I’m obsessed with v8 range rovers but need to be a bit more sensible with fuel economy, my current 4.4 petrol drinks fuel for fun. I prefer larger cars so have been researching A7s, is there much difference size wise between an A7 and an S5?
Thanks for the positive comment John. Yeah a bit difference between the two a7 and s5. A7 feels like much of a better car if you like bigger cars like me. A great all rounder with unique looks. I’m currently in a Range Rover Velar at the moment and loving it, but thinking another Audi next.
Bit the bullet and picking up a Nardo Grey S5 next week. Thank you again my friend, your video has definitely made my mind up.
@@johngoulden322 great news and congrats. Wow nardo grey is my favourite car colour. A nice Christmas present there 😊
Hi Paul. Looks nice mate. Did you have to remove the front tires to remove the tyre lining when taking off the front bumper. Gonna try this on mine
Hi Hassaim, thanks for the comment. No I didn’t have to remove the lining as I remember. If you’re going to go for it just make sure you give yourself plenty of time to get it done as can be quite fiddly. Definitely worth it though!
Paul, thanks for the great review. I just wanted to know whether you had any experience/thoughts on the auditory experience (sound of the engine/exhaust is important to me!) between the S5 and the V6 3.0 TFSI A7 (same engine as the S5). Does the S5 exhaust/setup give more pops and crackles since its an S-model and is set up differently? Thanks!
Thanks for the comment. I was pleasantly surprised with the sound. Much better than what I was expecting. It’s not too dramatic but has a nice high pitched sound as well the odd pop on up shifts which I really enjoyed. I’ve actually owned an a7 as well which I loved. Both great cars! Probably overall preferred the A7 as I like bigger cars.
Many thanks for your reply…does the A7 similarly pop and crackle on upshifts? I’d prefer the looks and size of the A7 as well, but if the A7 is just a quiet luxury driving experience I would want the S5 instead
@@gilmo1 I had the 3 litre diesel so had bad sound, but had tons of torque. Just depends on your preference:)
Congratulations mate
Thanks Sanjan!
No sunroof
Unfortunately not on the S5 I had.
Another great review mate, subscribed 👍
Thanks Sam!
Brilliant review mate, probably best on youtube. I'm picking up a 2015 S5 3.0TFSI V6 this saturday, a white black edition like the one you had but a Sportback instead. Moving from a 2012 A5 (3.0tdi V6 font wheel drive) which isn't that exciting to drive. Just out of interest, what made you get rid of the car? Thanks
Hi Sam, thanks for the comment and the kind feedback. It was a great car, well built, very fast and sounded pretty good too! I like to switch cars every year. Keeps me excited for the next one and l like to try different things. Nothing wrong with the car though. If there are any negatives from memory I would say they can be very thirsty when you put your foot down. Other than that a very solid motor and timeless design. Enjoy bud.

Got the car mate, absolutely love it. Just off memory, did you notice a difference between it being in Dynamic mode and just moving the gear shifter into 'S' mode which is sport? Is there a difference?
@@samhancock268 awesome, glad you are loving the car. As I remember I used to mainly pull the great shifter down into S and floor it then. Seemed to pull better.

Hi Kurt, thanks for the comment. This S5 had a pretty simple radio, CD player and hard drive media library. I never was able to use android auto or apple car play unfortunately. I’m guessing there’s a way you can make it work though.

What year is yours. How do your mirrors fold in?
Thanks for the comment. As I remember this was a 2012 model. The auto folding mirrors were a nice feature. I wish other cars I’ve owned had this. I think it was just a factory option. Cheers
