The unfortunate thing about Valoris is that he is simply not Valdor. He holds the same position, but he will never be as iconic, or noteworthy, as Valdor.
Honestly, that's for the better. Valdor was a robot in all but composition-a bit of an exaggeration, but I've read the books. I am not wrong, but Valoris is a wizened man in comparison to Valdor. He should be different, and that means he can be far more unique than his predecessor.
All of the custodians are in Valdor's shadow. But as implied all throughout the final series of books in the HH and Valdor's own book, he may be more than just a custodian. And considering the recent Bequin novels? Oooh boy.
@@Cptsuccess He's was way more than a robot, that was being hinted at for well over 10+ years now but fit wasn't until E&TD that we got to see that start to crack. Especially with his banter with Rogal when all seemed lost on the Vengeful Spirit. There's a reason why he's very much still venerated by his Order 10K years later on, more than just the title and rank he had. What im dying to know is, where does his alignment fall now in the current setting.
That is exactly the problem when you have someone who sets the bar very high. Not denying that Valdor was the best of the best, but it is human nature to make comparisons, and hence why every successor Captain-General feel like they are unable to fill the massive shoes Valdor has walked in.
@@kennycai8695 That's just about everywhere. Black Templars want to be Sigismund, Blood Angels want to be Alderon etc. The exception to those examples I just provided is that the Custodians all have perfect recall. So they remember their days with Valdor like it was a week ago. With them its a bit more justified. But in retrospect, its been pointed that he was above normal from the start even before conversion.
I like Valoris in recent fluff. His first appearance was a bit of a jerk (but what custodian isn't?) But later on they rolled him out into a proper character. Good stuff for a change.
@@bgcvetan Hmm. more or less, had sharp views on the ecclesiarchy but a all around good guy. of course, 40k being 40k, good guys are often the lambs in the tale.
I know the high Lords in the past have threatened to close Terra's borders and horde their defences instead of helping the wider Imperium. This could be why Valorus chose to hide the profercy
Is this set after Our Martyred Lady? If so Vahl is right that Ophelia VII needs cleansing and it makes sense Valoris would back her as his Centurion Longinus (the one who took Alicia Dominica to meet the Emperor) has told him of the demon incursion.
@@blackouthorus1519 It gets really annoying when you want to know the developing lore and they hijack the comment section to dump the same 3 memes that are outdated by at least 5 years, it makes for an awful lame experience after a few years.
Sorry, but even as a fellow TTS fan, you're mistaken. Valoris and Kitten are not the same person. This is confirmed in an audio log where one of the Custodes "cleans up" the sewers within the Imperial Palace.
Valoris is also captain General in an era without primarchs running around, Malcador scheming and the Emperor doing his thing. They are in charge of two very different organisations in different times. Valdor was arrogant, brutal and remorseless because that's what was required of him. Valoris is more new school, more similar to Valerian than he is to an old school custodian like Diocletian. Much like Diocletian, Ra and Valerian are different so can Valdor and Valoris also be different. The right tool for the right job as the saying goes.
See, this is why Custodes tend to piss me off. And, you don't retreat to a palace for God knows how many years and keep your combat edge. There I said it.
They weren’t doing nothing tho, for the most part. They still went on missions, and their spy network made it so they knew about every threat that popped up in the galaxy before mostly anyone else

Welcome back Rho!
I agree. This behaviour from valoris looks like there is a lot of communication once again between the emperor and the custodes through visions.

More of this. Love the inner conflict of the wider imperium
Great lore again
I wonder if this night Lord assault on the sister compound was when Acerbus ascended to daemonhood?

Ah yes, Trajann Valoris, better known by his powerful nom de guerre "Kitten".
Wooo kitten is back 😅

What's the lore reason for the tilting shields some wear?
How is there rain when there is canonically no major bodies of water on Tera?
Blood sweat tears and waste over 10000 years probably left behind enough moisture to restart the cycle.
You can have rain without bodies of water. And there's nowhere that says there isn't water on Terra, just are not oceans etc.
I prefer Valoris to Valdor honestly. Valdor was a complete robot. Valoris on the other hand comes across as an experienced and wise veteran.
The Kitten-General is indeed better than Valdor.
