    Thanks. I learned something new. I’ve thought fast or extra fast heavy rods were less sensitive. The dry land part helped me understand it better. I’d love to see a video going more in-depth with angles and helping landing more bass especially sitting in kayak. Thanks!

      @@ChadHooverFishing I've been an Angler for over 40 years and very little to None of it has been Jig fishing. As Kathy stated that dry land presentation explanation gave me the visual understanding to not only better understand whats occurring under the water but what's the best rod setup to do it. This winter I will be looking for a rod to dedicate to jig fishing. As always, Thanks for the Great content.

    Jig videos are my favorite! I caught a 19inch jig fish on Friday but yours was fatter. I used a weedless hair jig with a zoom chunk cause I am north east. Also I hit my total weight loss goal of 60lb! I am healthy and building muscle. It only took 14 weeks of fasting/ keto and 9 weeks of training. Love of the sport and your videos was so important for me Chad.

    Certainly mean no disrespect… However Lots of professional bass fisherman will disagree with some points in this video.
    Xtra Fast rods lose lots of fish particularly jig fishing
    A slightly parabolic rod is the action of choice for most professional bass fishermen
    Reason being … is the load in the rod actually keeps fish pinned
    Most would agree that Xtra fast action rods work in favor of the fish throwing hooks
    Go take a look at Matt Allen’s Jig Rod videos…they are extremely informative
    It will give you a better understanding of the concept behind a slightly moderate Jig rod

    • @ChadHooverFishing
      @ChadHooverFishing  ปีที่แล้ว

      I understand the points made by many people with differing opinions and in many cases they are offering you advice on how “you” can do it with compensation for things like not maintain contact with the fish or not using a fast enough reel or any number of other factors.
      I offered my opinions and explained each of them with a demonstration so that you can take the info and do with it what you want.
      I would disagree with the assessment that “most” pro fisherman use a moderate jig rod though seeing as how almost all “signature series” rods from pros include a fast or extra fast jig rod.

      Thanks. Check out other opinions too. Many people thing you should use a moderate action to help with the “fight” avoid losing fish. I think that I would rather hook more fish and hang up less because I can’t lose a fish I never hook and if I’m jacking around trying to get my jig free from a snag then I surely ain’t catching them.

    I usually don't jig but in Ohio it seems thats the better method. I'm more of a cranker Thank you for the info!
    As hook set, seems to me bass hook themselves so I try not to pull hard using a medium heavy rod.
    As Saugeye/walleye I use a faster action rod and spinning reel. It's easier to me to loose those fish.

  • @tedjohansen6535
    @tedjohansen6535 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    It's moderate action, not fast action, that keeps a fish pinned on hook when jumping and head thrashing. It keeps a more consistent line tension because, not in spite of, having the rod bent over further. So there's a good case for a mod-fast rod in situations with high chance of jumping (long casts) and using a throwable (heavy/connected weight) lure such as with football jigs. Further nuance might help some folks here - one can "get away with" a more moderate rod if it is high power, and one can "get away with" a faster rod if it is lower power. All that said, I appreciate the video!

    • @ChadHooverFishing

      The moderate action has less feel and leads to waaaaaay more hang ups and you have to hook the fish before you can lose it.

    • @tedjohansen6535
      @tedjohansen6535 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ChadHooverFishing Agreed, and its all relative - neither of us would recommend a fully "moderate" rated rod!
