  • "Who says there is no work-life balance in Consulting?" Seema Bansal, Director At BCG debunks this myth and how!
    “BCG looks for people with very high-quality interpersonal skills, empathy, communication skills & teamwork.”
    If you want to know the skills required to crack an interview with BCG or the truth about life as a consultant, this video is a must watch for you.
    In this video, Seema Bansal Director - Social Impact Practice @BCG India & Asia Pacific, IIM C Alum tells you how to get a PPO at BCG. She tells you of the skills and attitude required to work at BCG and how BCG recruits not just from b-schools but independently as well. Questions about getting a PPO, the interview process, etc are also answered.
    Seema also tells you how the life of a consultant plays out. Think consulting is an intensive job which is highly stressful? Think again. Because Seema tells you how consulting can be cool. As a certified scuba diver, a trekker who’s climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro on her 40th birthday and who’s currently learning to play the piano and dance the salsa, Seema tells us how being a consultant can be kaafi cool.
    From taking family vacations 4 times a year to managing being a mum and a crazy job all at once, Seema paints a picture of the ideal life of a consultant. She shares how to manage work-life balance for any corporate job, and how to be successful with guilt while managing work and family.
    Master the science of Consulting & learn how to ace Consulting interviews from Seema Bansal. Join us for the 1.5-month Consulting Festival where Seema Bansal, Partner & Director - BCG & other such experts from BCG, PwC and KPMG teach you all you need to know to crack Consulting interviews and get a job in this in-demand sector! Consulting is good when you are fresher to gain experience and then people leave consulting to have work-life balance. Also, keep in mind, in consulting once you reach mid-management level it is sales focused. Choose your interest. Consulting is general term, it is like saying IT resource. There are various streams within consulting, pick your area of interest. Market also matters, Asia vs North America etc. Think, plan and then make decisions.

      Its very disappointing but in India most consulting firms focus first on college name, then on marks and last on candidate’s skills. I would recommend work couple of years in market and then apply as experienced hire in consulting firms, in your area of your work/domain (eg. Finance, strategy, Technology etc.). IIM helps to get jumpstart in your career. If you are not from IIM then work in market build your skills and then apply. Hope, that helps.

    • @sgg8922
      @sgg8922 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Executive MBA does not guarantee consulting career. The executive MBA is for folks who have good 7-12yrs experience and to further move up the ladder in their existing companies some candidates do such MBA. Always focus on ROI, MBA means nothing when you have 7-8 yrs of experience. Don’t waste your money and time. Focus on opportunities which might take you further.

      How do they find time to develop in other areas if they work these many hours?

    Whats wrong with not sitting at home? Just because eveeryone is in the rat race that dosent mean that you have to do exactly same. Live for yourself than just proving others how sucesssfull you are.

      There is nothing inherently wrong with not conforming to societal norms or the expectations of others. Each individual has the freedom to choose their own path and live their life according to their own values and aspirations.

    Consultants are backchod's (Interpersonal skills), who are always doing sales (consciously/unconsciously). It's a good start to someone's career to find what they like. A long term career in consulting is just ridiculous unless your dream is to start your own consulting company someday. Just saying from experience.
