- Find out why they call them the "gladiators of the sea". We know these fish can be unpredictable and aggressive but we weren't quite expecting this!
Successful tag & release (with a bit of drama) of a very healthy, and green, Broadbill Swordfish est. at 230-240kg after a 1hr:40min tug-o-war. These fish have unreal power and it is one hell of an experience to see them up close, but so good to see them swim away strongly. This was the beginning of the seasons goal and to have caught 3 this year has been amazing. It has well exceeded our hopes and dreams. Hope you enjoy the ride and if you are out there chasing these swords, tight lines and remember to not take your eyes off that bill!! @itswizza

Good fishing u guys have such a good sword fishery. Your quite a bit off on ya estimate there buddy. U will eventually hook a really big one and with the drag settings and that noodle rod will be your undoing....u will be on a big sword for 20 hours. Only once this has happened to you , you will then get a stronger rod and step up the drag. Until then I will keep unjoying your videos. I'm so jealous over here in nz. Our weather hardly let's us out. And we haven't got the numbers like you guys have in tazie
nice vid mate, have you ever dropped for swords in 800m? 400 to 600m seems to b the sweet spot. but got some very good looking grounds in around the 800m mark
Cheers. Yeah we have dropped out in 800m a few times but I didnt like long it took to wind all the line back in haha. And we haven't had much action in those depths but also not given it a lot of effort.

Was grumpy. Nothing/no one broken thankfully. Few new marks up the side of the boat, but i dont mind those stories engraved into the side of it 😁

Hi, what sort of water temp are you guys fishing at this time of year?
15.1oC it was out there, been dropping pretty quickly. But down where they are are is about 8oC. They are here to eat and fatten up and that's proven with the quality of fish we are seeing.
