  • Video from 2nd April (prior to catching the 67kg sword). Where do I start... we discussed not sharing as the story as it sounded to elaborate to be true, but here is some supporting evidence of what went down. Long story short, got 2 hook-ups at the same time on slack tide. One on the electric that we noticed first. We were all so entertained and drowned out by the sound of the forcemaster that we missed the bite on the game rod. After 5 or so minutes we sighted the electric hook-up, confirmed swordfish (video clarity not great). It busted off on the surface, hook breaking through the mono. Lost.
Started winding up the game reel to go back and reset now that we had the electric in. Half way up we pulled tight with around 200m still out. As we drove off, Aaron yells "it’s right here!". 10m from the boat but didn’t break the surface. We tussled for a few minutes before succumbing to the fact we’d lost a second fish. Disappointing.
Upon reflection we don’t think the fish sighted at the side of the boat was that attached to the game reel, but the sword that busted off the electric and had come charging at us after it was free as they are known to do this. 🤷‍♀️ Was utter chaos, and we didn’t convert either 🤦‍♀️😭
That's now 3 chances in 2 weekends and we're starting to wonder how many more we will be given. On one hand we've put 8 full days into them this season already and feelings of disappointment are rising. Self induced by the curiosity of "what if". If we had not started early, then the last 2 weeks would be cause for celebration! It's an emotional roller coaster this game.
