The last two wheel drive car to win the RAC rally. Lotus Sunbeam.

And des went on to win manufacturers championship the next year 1981. The last of the rear wheel drive rally cars. Pipping the Ford escort at the end of the 2 wheel era. Des odell went on to assist Peugeot with the 205 4wd with his experience.

Thanks for this, I'd seen the first part of Dell's interview, but the longer version is most appreciated.
Special memories for me as 1980 was my 1st, but not last RAC.

I think the shu-vit was the quicker car. True great times for rallying. Only repeated with the kit cars of late 90's. We should be due a renaissance fairly soon
