Growing up near Monmouth in the late 60's, the forest of Dean and the forests of Wales provided a wealth of free motorsport spectating opportunities. Tour of Dean, The Welsh Rally and the RAC were followed from one special stage to another, just as soon as I had a licence and car of my own. Often my enthusiasm, with a couple of mates with me, we would find ourselves miles from home the following dawn, perhaps up in the Radnor forest. Happy days!

Fascinating! Love the soundtrack. And the traditional, well-spoken commentator. Oh how times have changed!

0:48 I also find engine oil on the wiper blades gives extra speed.

"Drivers for the top teams paid as much as a £100 a week" Blimey......yep that was a lot. I was earning £2 a week!! Some of those registration plates would be worth a small fortune now but back then there was no market in personal plates so nobody hung on to them.
